We don't often see porn as art. Here's a great example of what that looks like. We tend to think of porn in terms of its value as stroke material. This movie doesn't fit that model. To paraphrase Terry Pratchett the difference between art and smut is that you can put art on a plinth or in a frame. This one belongs in the art category. Is it strokable? Yes. Fans of Dumont will obviously want to pick up this release fans of the genre may ultimately be disappointed by the films on the release. Sadly, Grindhouse XXX 2 doesn't live up to either mostly trying to spoof Grindhouse with a 51-minute spoof of the Machete trailer from Grindhouse called Machete XXX and a 49-minute all-sex spoof of Death Proof, called Fuck Proof, that is just a string of unconnected sex scenes. It has probably become clear at this point that Grindhouse XXX 2 suffers from huge plot issues, however, it also contains a multitude of technical issues. Some of the sex scenes aren't bad but they could have used some tighter editing. Nice turns too in this from Nina Hartley, Evan Stone and Kayden Kross. There is bondage present but it doesn't dominate nearly as much as I thought it would, the first scene with Bree was quite good in that area and throughout you get nods in the scenes to bondage but then it usually ends and the scene is pretty hardcore after. I read the novel some 3 or 4 years ago and I loved the content and themes of it-- kinky S&M and the objectification of women, namely, love slaves. It was an enjoyable novel but I much prefer the "O"-inspired "Sleeping Beauty" series by A.N. Roquelare (a pseudonym of vampire novelist Anne Rice.) "Story of O" feels tame compared to "Sleeping Beauty" yet this movie feels tame compared to "Story of O." And I think that's saying a lot that a porn movie feels less explicit than an erotica book. I know that Adam & Eve is geared towards the softer couples crowd but still, I was hoping for something much more bold. Initial Reaction: Its one of the best movies Ive ever seen from Roy Karch, and a great couples movie. Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a light couples movie with passionate sex Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting either nasty or extremely bland sex Audio /Video Quality: The audio is clear and well balanced with barely a hint of background noises. The video is also very good. It has some very slightly grain, but is wlel lit with most of the shadows appearing natural. Music: The music is normally nicely balanced with the rest of the audio. The silent movie effect made a lot of the performances look fake. When I cranked up the volume to hear what was going on, things heated up and got real.
