Initial Expectations: The one scene I’ve watched from this movie I remember as being pretty hot. With this cast, and seeing that Martin Brimmer wrote it, I’m not expecting the rest of the movie to be much different.

Initial Reaction: It’s pretty good, and a heck of a lot better than that when one looks at the time it came from.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is just slightly on the soft side. It’s well balanced, but occasionally a little muddy. The video shows a hint of grain, but is excellent for the age of the feature. Some of the scenes have a couple shadows that seem a little off, but other than that, the lighting is good but slightly dark.

Music: The music has an easy, sexy jazz feel that really helps out the scenes. It’s occasionally a little loud, but normally works well.

Menus: The menus are pretty basic. The main menu is unanimated and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene. You also have the ability to jump to a scene by the performers in the Cast section of the DVD. It’s a nice touch, but would have looked nicer if combined with the cast menu.

The Feature: After moving from California to the Montana backwoods, Kelly O’Dell finds that it’s not easy being a woman. It’s especially not easy being a woman if you like other women rather than men. Kelly finally comes up with an idea on how to have a lesbian bar survive in rural Montana, but not all the locals like the idea.

Kelly O’Dell starts out diddling herself while looking at a nudie magazine on her bed. After a few minutes, you’re taken into her fantasy where Kelly is joined by an extremely young and cute Juli Ashton. They happily take turns taste testing twats before moving into a sixty nine and breaking out a toy or two. Finally, things journey back to the real world where Kelly takes care of herself a bit with a dildo before getting dressed. It’s a pretty good scene, and although the fantasy scenario doesn’t come to a really complete end, it works well as a fantasy.

Jeanna Fine and Misty Rain get busy in the second scene. Jeanna quickly goes down on Misty, spanking her, fingering her, and tonguing her pussy and ass. Jeanna sits on Misty’s face a little before they slip into a sixty-nine, and they finally finish things up with Jeanna giving Misty one last licking and a kiss. It’s a hot scene with very nice chemistry.

They share a bottle of wine and a little talk about being a lesbian in the wilds of Montana before playfully kissing each other. It’s another nicely done scene with very good chemistry.

They start out with some light kissing and caressing before they’re interrupted by Misty Rain, who walks in as Sindee is eating out Felecia. They encourage Misty to join them, with Sindee taking the low road and eating her pussy while Felecia takes the high road and attacks Misty’s pierced nipples. Felecia soon goes down under to devour Misty’s ass and work it over with a vibe. It’s a great scene with excellent energy and chemistry, but Sindee gets a little lost in it.

Finally, Jeanna Fine and Tina Tyler get it on after a little verbal sparring in the bar. Tina gets on the back to have Jeanna lick her one last time before they end things with some very passionate kissing. It’s a great scene, and easily the best in the feature. Jeanna and Tina have some amazing chemistry together, and seem to urge each other on throughout the scene. This scene’s worth the rental price alone.

Wide Open Spaces is a nicely done all girl feature. There isn’t a heck of a lot for a plot, but what little there is the cast handles nicely. Actually, everything here the cast handles very nicely. Tina Tyler and Jeanna Fine’s finale is easily the best scene in the feature, but Sindee Coxx, Misty Rain, and Felecia’s threesome isn’t far off. Kelly O’Dell’s scenes are nicely done, but her subdued feeling gets a little lost compared to the intensity of people like Misty Rain and Jeanna Fine. Wide Open Spaces is a good all girl fuck flick that shows that not all early to mid nineties porn sucked.

Extras: Trailers are included for Diav Girls and Diva 4, as well as showing the cover for No Boys Allowed. There’s also a two and a quarter minute photo gallery that gives you about seven seconds per okay at best looking photo. Of course, there’s also contact and internet information.

Overall: Currently, most of the DVDs in the VCA Classics can be found online for between $15 and $25 with most stores offering them for around $20. This is a little high for what you get here. The scenes are all above average and the transfer is very good, but there isn’t really anything for extras.

Note to VCA: The only thing that’s holding back your Classics line is the lack of extras.
