Confessions of a Sinful Nun is an all girl nunsploitation feature movie from first-time adult movie writer and director Ricky Greenwood and co-director Dana Vespoli. Much fanfare has been made over the 1970s looking cover design of the movie and Greenwood wanting to stay true to the 1970s nunsploitation movies. Greenwood doesn't exactly succeed at his goal, however, this isn't to say that Confessions of a Sinful Nun is a bad adult movie.

The story for Confessions of a Sinful Nun is, after Lily (Lily Adams) arrives at a convent, the mother superior (Nina Hartley) assigns Sister Charlotte (Charlotte Stokely) to get Lily acclimated to the convent. After Sister Charlotte witnesses Sister Penny (Penny Pax) and Sister Darcie (Darcie Dolce) having a tryst on the convent grounds, Lily makes advances towards Sister Charlotte. Sister Charlotte starts to develop feelings for Lily that she doesn't understand.

The story in Confessions of a Sinful Nun is decent and is more than just a way to connect the sex scenes together. The movie is ten minutes in before the first sex scene is even introduced to the viewer. The characters are decently rounded out and not just flat. This being said, the story could have been made more complex without harming the movie — in fact, it would have helped the movie out.

The sex scenes in the movie are long, running 30 to 40 minutes each, which does pull the viewer out from the story a bit. Charlotte Stokely's much shorter masturbation scene felt like far more of an appropriate time to pull the viewer from the story. As the movie goes on the story becomes thinner and thinner as the sex scenes come more rapidly. However, only one of the sex scenes actually seems out of place in the story.

None of this is to say that the sex scenes themselves aren't enjoyable. Confessions of a Sinful Nun has a great cast, who do a great job with the sex scenes. The cast members in each scene exhibit great sexual energy and certainly appear to have excellent sexual chemistry together. The cast does a great job with their non-sexual material as well. This reviewer loved seeing the legendary Nina Hartley in the role of the mother superior. As a long-time fan of hers, it is great to see her still getting roles.

The technical aspects of the movie are outstanding. Confessions of a Sinful Nun is absolutely beautifully shot by Matt Holder and James Avalon. The camera work is excellent and the finished movie looks excellent. The locations and sets are perfect. Nothing looks cheap or rushed in the production and the sets and locations give the movie a realistic feel. The costuming for the movie is outstanding. Like with the locations and sets, none of the costuming looks fake or rushed. It is obvious a lot of attention went into making Confessions of a Sinful Nun. The CGI used in the movie is very limited and is well done.

How one fares while watching Confessions of a Sinful Nun will depend on exactly what frame of mind one goes into the movie with. Viewers who go into Confessions of a Sinful Nun hoping for a return to 1970s style adult films will sadly be sorely disappointed. There is no doubt that this is a modern adult movie made with modern viewing audiences in mind. Viewers who go into Confessions of a Sinful Nun will find it to be a very well done and enjoyable all girl movie.

The edition of Confessions of a Sinful Nun screened was a streaming only screener available for critics. As a result, there may be differences between the screener and the commercially available version of the movie. The streaming screener provided to critics by Sweetheart Video was well done. Confessions of a Sinful Nun was shot digitally and is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1 in 720p. The video presentation for Confessions of a Sinful Nun is beautiful with nice vibrant color and a mostly defect-free image. There is a slight breakdown of the image due to grain in very dark areas. Overall, the image for Confessions of a Sinful Nun is beautiful. There is a Sweetheart Video bug that is located in the lower right corner and takes up almost one-half of the bottom of the screen. This reviewer doesn't know if this bug will also be in the commercially available version of the movie.

Confessions of a Sinful Nun is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio track. The audio for the movie is full and robust with no noticeable issues whatsoever. The dialog in the movie is clear and easy to understand at all times.

Confessions of a Sinful Nun is a well-done and enjoyable all girl feature movie from Sweetheart Video. Confessions of a Sinful Nun combines high production values, with a decent story, and some incredibly hot all girl sex scenes. Fans of the genre should definitely give this movie a look.
