Review:
I have decided to take a walk back into the past in watching and reviewing “Smoke Screen” from Caballero. This late-80’s / early-90’s release stars Megan Leigh who, along with being one of the first actresses I saw in a porno as a young man, also met with a tragic and untimely end…(rest in peace, Megan). In this stroll down memory lane, one finds all of the trappings of porn that one would expect from this era. All accounted for here are the big hair, the real bushes (though these have made a comeback as of late), the poor acting, and the cheesed-up plots and scenarios. Fortunately, most of the sex is decent in this one…albeit it fairly standard…and that much has always been important.

In terms of the plot, Robert Bullock is married to Nina Hartley, but he’s having an affair with an entertainment industry artist whom he represents (Megan Leigh). After seeing how his friend’s life has ended up after having an affair, Robert has an epiphany and cuts things off with Megan…who was about to cut things off with him, regardless. This, of course, doesn’t keep the entire thing from blowing up, as Megan’s jealous co-worker (Jade East) makes an anonymous phone call to Nina and tips her off. Luckily for everyone involved, the healing power of sex knows no bounds, and things come back together just as rapidly as they deteriorated. Who doesn’t love a happy ending? (That’s pretty much it in a nut-shell.)

Sex-wise, this one’s a mixed bag. Both of Megan Leigh’s scenes—the first with Robert Bullock (Scene One; facial) and the second with Nina Hartley (Scene Five; fingers and tongues)—are very good and worthy of a watch. In the former, she sucks and jerks Robert to a pop, and in the latter, the scissors crotch-grinding is not to be missed—hot stuff! Nina Hartley also has a decent masturbation sequence on the living room sofa (Scene Four) and a make-up boy/girl scene with her husband (Robert) that—other than for the botched camera-capture of the cum-shot delivered to her hands—is very good, as well.

Renee Summers and Scott St. James also turn in a good boy/girl segment in Nina’s and Robert’s dining room and living room (Scene Two; facial and oral cock clean-off). The blowjob / titty-fucking combination here is a highlight. And, in a relatively lackluster segment, Jade East and Jesse Eastern get it on in a studio (Scene Three; pop-shot to the ass).

Bonus-wise, this disc is weak…which is to be expected given its age. There are some “Photos”—a slide-show of apparent screen-caps, a “Web” option—which gives an ad for a website, and a “XXX” choice—which plays through some phone sex ads that are actually kind of hot. That’s all.

In all, this is a fun movie for those who are interested in seeing porn from a bygone era and, perhaps, checking out some of Megan Leigh’s work. While it won’t appeal to everyone, there are probably more nostalgia-minded people like myself out there who will get something out of it.
