OK, so in my last review of a Nu-Tech DVD (Custom Slave) I was pretty down on the company based on the shortness of the title (30 minutes). What convinced me of trying another Nu-Tech title, I don't know. Wait a minute, yes I do. A young Cheerleader Captain having to take on her entire squard to keep them happy. Hey, even if that's only 30 minutes, that's good entertainment to me. Unfortunately, i forgot that this was a Japanese title in which most Japanese cheering squads are composed of men. No!!! Now Karen is based on a female character, a nicely drawn volumptuous beauty, but the only girl on a men's cheering squad and it's the men who take advantage of her. That without sex, they quit, and Karen wants to me a good captain, but she's hesitant about the sex. She does it, though, and by the end of the DVD, she enjoys sharing herself with the team. Now, the DVD does redemm itself by having Karen join up with the girl dance team, dressed in far more traditional cheerleading costumes, which Karen and the other girls don't wear for long. As I'm sure will be apparent, I really liked this movie and the DVD was well done. As I put the disc in, I was greeted with the Dolby Digital "City" Trailer. Very cool to have. (There is a DTS track but no DTS trailer is included.) Next, come the nicely animated movie themed menus. They're not super fancy but they are pretty good. On to the movie itself Nikita arrives and narrates about her arrival in Beverly Hills. Then the opening credits role and we see various shots of Beverly Hills. These are shot fairly well and edited together well. We then see Nikita enter the house where she is greeted by the maid, played by Dee, who then leaves to go get Madame(played by Christina St. James). Nikita looks around and we see a brief shot of Vicca running by nude upstairs. Madame is poolside sucking Michael J. Cox off. She promptly leaves when given the word that Nikita has arrived. I wasn't sure what to expect as I popped in Coming to Beverly Hills. I expected there to be some good scenes and some attractive ladies but beyond that I had no idea. The first thing that piqued my interest about this title was the prominent placement on the case saying all sex scenes are multiple angle. I was interested in where they found the extra footage and hoped this would be explained in the commentary. When the alternate angle icon showed up on the screen, I switched angles, to find that the "multiple angle" was merely the film reversed. There is no extra footage, and reversing the film has an interesting side effect, the lips don't match the voice. Throughout the rest of the movie, the angle icon becomes a constant reminder of the wool the studio tried to pull over the eyes of the viewers.Getting more into the action of the movie, this seems typical of 1970s porn and reminds me of Insatiable, another classic movie. Considering this is a film transfer, the video is surprisingly clear with good color reproduction. This was shot on location in Hawaii and features dozens of exterior shots of the island, as well as a sailboat, a helicopter, some scuba footage, an Aloha airliner, etc. The "Double Indemnity"/"Body Heat" style plot far exceeds any plot you'll see in today's porn. On the downside, this is 24 year-old footage, and it shows. The DVD transfer was pretty good, but the film itself is damaged and peppered with scratches and white spots. Moreover, the women doing porn in the late 1970's were pretty homely by today's standards, but Leslie Bovee is a very handsome woman and exudes an earthy sensuality. On the extras side, there is a full motion chapter-stops menu. The multi-angle gimmick is a complete waste of time, because most of the extra angles are just mirror images. The commentary track is the king of all DVD extras, but none of the people associated with this project are still around and willing to participate. This was shot on location in Hawaii and features dozens of exterior shots of the island, as well as a sailboat, a helicopter, some scuba footage, an Aloha airliner, etc. The "Double Indemnity"/"Body Heat" style plot far exceeds any plot you'll see in today's porn. On the downside, this is 24 year-old footage, and it shows. The DVD transfer was pretty good, but the film itself is damaged and peppered with scratches and white spots. Moreover, the women doing porn in the late 1970's were pretty homely by today's standards, but Leslie Bovee is a very handsome woman and exudes an earthy sensuality. On the extras side, there is a full motion chapter-stops menu. The multi-angle gimmick is a complete waste of time, because most of the extra angles are just mirror images. The commentary track is the king of all DVD extras, but none of the people associated with this project are still around and willing to participate. The About Anime explains that evolution of the big eyes, blue hair, high-pitched voices and other anime characteristics with an enticing graphical backdrop. Visually the entire disc is a pleasure to view: menus, movies, and trailers. With two stories (volumes) sandwiched between the intro and trailers, you definitely get enough bang for your buck.The bad guys early victory/ good guys save the day plot, made me think I was watching Saturday morning cartoons. I bought this movie pretty cheap at a local computer/electronic store. Julia Ann, someone that I wasn't too familiar with was on the cover and she looks pretty slutty (hot). The backcover says Celeste was suppose to be in this film but she was not. This was a big disappointment. The firm and huge breast on Julia Ann makes up for this disappointment though.
