Synopsis:
Debbie (Bambi Woods) gets a place on the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad, but doesn't have the money to get to Dallas. She and her fellow cheerleaders pick up part time jobs so Debbie can go there and the rest of the squad can come along to cheer her on during her first game. Soon they find that their jobs aren't getting them money fast and they find that if they perform sexual favors the money adds up faster.

Video/Audio:
For its age, this disk is a good presentation of the film. The film contains many artifacts, none overly large or enough to be distracting. The picture is soft throughout the film and in some scenes the color is over saturated. The picture appears to be cropped from a possible original widescreen ratio of 1.66:1, during the opening credits and the end credits the text falls off the screen on both sides. The cropping is not noticeable during the rest of the film. The 2.0 mono track is incredibly good. The dialog is easily heard in most scenes. There are a couple places that a line or two are hard to hear. The only language track is in English and there are no subtitle options.

Special Features:
The only special feature contained on the disk is a chapter search. The film is broken up into nine chapter breaks. The chapters decently break up the film allowing the viewer to get to the beginning of the main scenes. Nothing else is included. It would have been nice to at least include the original trailer to Debbie Does Dallas.

Conclusion:
Debbie Does Dallas is one of those films that probably most people have seen by now. This film is a lighthearted sexual romp, very similar to the mainstream soft-core films from the same time. The story line and acting are of the same quality as these mainstream soft-core films. It came from the golden age of adult films when there were noticeable plots, characters were built and the stars could act. Debbie Does Dallas also comes from a time when the women and men were noticeably hairier. Given that this is an adult film from 1978, the picture presentation is probably the best we are going to see. The color over saturation can be annoying at times and it would have been nice to have the film in its original widescreen with the original theatrical trailer.

None of the sex scenes push any limits, but there is a wide variety in how each one is presented. Unlike many new films, the scenes don't feel repetitive because not the same acts are being performed in each one. The actors seem to be enjoying themselves which add to the picture. There is nothing worse than watching a film and seeing one of the actors uninterested or in noticeable pain.

Another disk of Debbie Does Dallas has been released by VCX and it is not known to me whether the picture is any better on that release. There is a good chance that it is equivalent or worse than the NuTech Digital disk. Given the price of this disk, you can pick it up relatively cheap on the Internet. If you are a sucker for the classics, this film is a good buy or if you are interested in seeing one of the films that started it all Debbie Does Dallas is worth obtaining. Otherwise I would stay clear of the film and go for a newer film with better video quality.

It's nice to see the classics being released on DVD and I hope the trend continues. I wish that they were given better treatment, I'm not asking for a Dreamworks quality disk, but one equivalent to Anchor Bay's releases would be nice. Now I sit back and wait for Debbie Does Dallas 2 to be released.
