Initial Expectations: I really liked how the first part of this series set it up, so I’m looking forward to more here.

Initial Reaction: It’s darker than the first part, but keeps things going very well.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants a story with a little sex fitting into it

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants a lot of animated sex or darker sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video both appear very good for what the source is like. The animation isn’t that developed, think Pokemon, but there isn’t any noticeable pixelation or remnants to hold it back further.

Music: None

Menus: The main menu is nicely animated, and gives a very good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for that scene.

The Feature

After Mai (voiced by Kylie Ireland) loses her fiancé Youji in a mountain climbing accident, she decides she still wants to have his baby. He was working on a way to create babies from the DNA like you’d find in a hair or fleck of skin, but the process is still experimental and extremely expensive. To make her dream a reality, she becomes a DNA Hunter, collecting men’s ejaculate for rich women clients who want to have a specific man’s baby without his knowledge.

Shiori starts out this episode with a client who likes to talk dirty. She’s embarrassed by his talk, but his fingers know just how to get her juices flowing. Amazingly, both the cock and the pop are shown here, which is very rare from what I’ve seen in anime. It’s still a fairly short scene, but it works pretty well here.

Mai’s client, Mr. Kusuhara, lets Mai know who’s in control right away in the second scene. He forces her down and roughly works on her tits before eating her pussy. Ending the scene this way is a nice change from the standard ending, and really helps the feature have a bit more of the feel that classic porn has.

It’s a slightly longer scene, and feels nicely different from the earlier scene as well as the scenes in the first episode, but is still just as well done.

Finally, Mr. Kusuhara drugs Mai and gives her to his slave girls to train. They work Mai over with their tongue and fingers as well as a toy while Mr. Kusuhara watches. This scene leaves me a little torn. It fits into the story well, but I don’t like watching non-consensual sex.

DNA Hunter 2 is a pretty good sequel. It’s a little darker than the first part, due to some non-consensual sex, but does a good job with it. It fits in with the story and is balanced out nicely with consensual sex, which is pretty rare for hentai. It also worked for me due to the overall story. Things are added to the overall story at a very nice rate, and make things interesting as well as sexy. DNA Hunter 2 is darker than its predecessor, but keeps things going well.

The Extra Stuff

The A-side of the DVD contains a few photo galleries and website information. The feature gallery lasts nearly four minutes with about six seconds per full screen photo. Kylie Ireland and Misty Rain each get their own photo galleries also, with each of them running about two and a quarter minutes with six seconds per nice looking full screen photo. There’s The B-side of the DVD contains trailers for most of NuTech’s animated releases. Sadly, these are the same extras on every DVD in this series.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, the DNA Hunter episodes can be found online for between $11 and $22 with most stores offering them for around $15. I liked this movie although it’s a little darker, and although it has a nice transfer, I’d strongly suggest renting it rather than buying it. At under a half hour, I just can’t justify the cost for what you get here, especially since there aren’t any extras worth mentioning.

Note to NuTech: I really wish you’d pay a little attention to how badly your competition, such as Central Park and Kitty, are making your DVDs look and try to improve them. They would have released this entire series on one DVD at roughly half the cost you charge. This makes for much happier customers who seek out your product much better.
