Initial Expectations: This one sound like a lot of fun.

Initial Reaction: It’s a lot of fun but not much of a porno.

Audio /Video Quality: It’s a classic, so one shouldn’t expect it to look like a recently made movie. Even without considering the age, the audio is pretty clear. When considering the age, it’s great. The video suffers a little more. It’s grainy and often very fuzzy with some relics.

Music: The 70s music you know and love. Make that the 70s music you know.

Review: The Senator’s Daughter is a lot of fun but it’s a little disappointing as a porno. Yes, normally the sex scenes in classic porn aren’t as long or defined as in modern porn but they’re even less so here. I’d barely consider it to have four scenes in the movie. That doesn’t mean that it’s a waste of time. I think everybody involved with it had a lot of fun making the movie and I know that I had a lot of fun watching it.

The Senator’s Daughter is basically an adult version of The 6 Million Dollar Man with John Holmes in the title role. When terrorists kidnap an influential senator’s daughter (Leslie Bovee), as well as several other Washington insiders with top secret information, the Alpha Project goes into action. The only thing missing is a subject to operate on, however when erotic film star John Holmes suffers a terrible accident, they convince him to become their subject. They outfit him with a bionic eye, leg, arm, and cock. The bionic eye can fire a laser beam and the cock can even fire a poison dart. Sound cheesy? It is but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. Even the effects are cheesy however they’re pretty good for the age of the film and the low budget.

The Senator’s Daughter is laced with humor and it really helps make the film work. When John’s driving down the road the radio in his car is tuned to KOCK radio. I’m assuming that this is a pretty hard station. The doctors also joke about testing out the bionic cock on a monkey. Humor even enters the sex scenes. When The Senator’s Daughter was made adult films actually had plot and the sex normally fit around the plot. At the initial Alpha Project meeting Nancy the secretary (Nancy Crew) slips under the table to blow several of the guys. Of course they can’t help but smile which leads the head guy to yell at whoever’s getting a little action for smiling. Near the end of the movie the control room, who monitors John’s actions, celebrate with a gang bang. Since Nancy’s the only one around she’s nominated and willingly agrees to take one for, and from, the team. The only person complaining is the head guy who’s locked in the control room and doesn’t want sloppy fourths.

Like with most classic adult films, a lot of the sex is fairly chopped up. It’s a nice change since you don’t always know who’s going to hook up. Some scenes are very short to lead into another scene, such as Dr. Kilchare (Allan Ball) jerking off on a nurse (Monique Little) who then goes to another nurse for a little sympathy. There’s also things you don’t see today due to some of the regulations put on the adult film industry. The henchmen molest Leslie in the car after they kidnap her and later the terrorist (Burham Tey) actually rapes her. It’s done fairly tame and it doesn’t appear that there’s any penetration, but it’s still a rape.

Of course, there’s full sex scenes also, most of which feature the legendary John Holmes. When John first appears on camera he’s doing a scene for a movie with Gloria Throate that would seem to fit in with an adult version of Aladdin. The age of the film really shows in this scene as it has really poor lighting that made quite a bit of the scene hard to see. The technical aspects are a little better later in the movie when one of the nurses puts John’s bionic cock to the test in the hospital linen closet. It does surprisingly well since he just finished an official test in the pool with two other test subjects. Of course, John also has to take on Leslie. From what I understand she was one of the top adult film stars at the time, as was John, so it’s natural to assume that the two of them would hook up for the final scene. Unlike most adult films of today they actually hook up twice. The first time is a very short blowjob scene when they first meet when John comes to rescue her and the other is an orgy scene to finish the movie off. Both have some very good technical aspects and aren’t as plagued by the lighting problems that hindered some of the other scenes. The blowjob scene is really short but fits in with the plot very well. The orgy scene isn’t what most people are used to out of orgy scenes of today. There’s chemistry here and it feels a little more natural. It’s also fairly laid back. Most noticeable is John finishing Leslie off by shooting his load across her stomach and tits and then rubbing it in himself. It’s one of the only times I’ve seen a guy touch his own jizz after he unloads it.

Although not a great porno, The Senator’s Daughter is a fun and sexual movie. The cast does a decent job of acting and you won’t see some of the things covered in it in today’s movies. I was tempted to rate it a little lower in some areas, but I had so much fun watching it that I couldn’t bring myself to rate it down. The main thing that holds the DVD back is an extreme lack of extras.

Extras: There isn’t much here. The main extra is trailers for Boogie Now, Coming to Beverly Hills, Coming to Beverly Hills 2, My Best Friend’s Wife, It’s a Wonderful Life, Pandora Peaks, The Price of an Education, Sensual Experience, Promises - Collector’s Edition, Sex, Lies, & The President, and the Kaylan Nicole series. There’s also some website and company information.

Overall: Currently, The Senator’s Daughter can be found online for between $13 and $22 with a wide range in between. If you enjoy classics or are a fan of John Holmes you’ll probably enjoy it. If you don’t care for the classics skip this one. Even if you’re interested in the classics you can probably find better ones to start with as it’s much more plot than sex. Of course, with how NuTech has been pricing their classics it’s hard to get too disappointed.

Note to NuTech: You’ve done a good job restoring The Senator’s Daughter . I would have liked a few extras, such as a commentary like I-Candy or VCA has done on some of their classic releases, but I can overlook it a little since you kept the price down with basically a bare bones DVD.
