review from 2/9/2019:
When his promiscuous, dissatisfied hippie of a wife (Dorothy Smight) opts to divorce him, leaving him unable to pay to for it, the down-on-his-luck Jon Martin has little choice but to take on a low-end job as an encyclopedia salesman for an ambitious businesswoman (Brigit Olsen), who's also the client of his attorney (Christine DeShaffer). Of course, Jon would be an utter failure at this piece of his life, as well, if it weren't for his almost uncanny ability to ensnare women with his naively innocent charm...and then satisfy them thoroughly with his seemingly mystical cock. Such is the case in Howard Perkins' overall-good, 1978 release, "Hot Lunch", which has been skillfully remastered by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

review from 10/10/2018:
A seemingly virginal, though certainly troubled, young woman, Rosemary (played by Sharon Thorpe), finds herself both unable to have sex unless in impersonal situations and also swirling further and further into madness, particularly upon the death of her estranged father. Where this disturbed path that her troubled psyche takes her upon will ultimately lead is anyone's guess, but one thing is for certain, and that's that it will be dark...and sexual. Such is the case in "Baby Rosemary", a bizarre, though very good, re-release of a 1976 Howard Perkins film by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

Emboldened by a female colleague's wanton activities, a newly-minted, cosmetic industry Vice President, the stunning legend, Lesllie Bovee, embarks upon a quest of sexual exploration and gratification around her home base of San Francisco. Given her rising station in life, she's in need of a trustworthy bodyguard to keep her safe, which she finds in the down-on-his-luck smooth-talker and former Navy boxer, John Leslie, who pretends to be gay to get the job. Of course, John's charade, coupled with both of their prurient proclivities, results in a powder keg that's simply bound to explode...in all manner of fucking. Such is the case in "Champagne for Breakfast", a very good, 1980 release from Chris Warfield and re-mastered by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

review from 11/12/2010:
Review: The Senators Daughter serves as a campy, yet interesting, look back into the world of adult films at a time much closer to its inception than the current one. As such, many of the technical and formulaic aspects of this production are quite different than what a porn fan of the modern era might be accustomed to, andnot surprisinglythe overall tenor of the film is quite different, as well. To many, different might mean bad. For instance, there are full bushes here on the men and the women, and the special effects are seriously outmoded. Additionally, the quality of the picture could be much better, though it certainly isnt awful. The sex scenes are typically short, and not all of them are actually hardcorethey are simply what fits best into the flow of the movie at the time. All of these things, of course, are reflective of the technology, societal aspects, and / or state of the industry at the particular timei.e. the 70s. So, from my perspective, different here doesnt necessarily mean bad but, instead, simply means different. [read the full review]

Blonde Emmanuelle is an amusing adult take on Casablanca. While Asterix has included the 3D version of the film, the hardcore and R-rated versions are sadly missing. With the hardcore sex scenes missing it becomes a little more obvious how the plot was designed to go from sex scene to sex scene but the thin plot is still fun, the film features a great cast, and the humor still works. Asterix has done a disappointing job with the release with problems with the transfer, only a few truly good extras, and the lack of versions present on the release. Director Stephen Gibson said that there is a 3D Blu-ray coming for the title so it is recommended that you not seek out the old Asterix DVD and wait for the Blu-ray. [read the full review]

"Maraschino Cherry" is an interesting release from 1978, Radley Metzger, and Video-X-Pix that, once again, appears that I'm going to be the only one who really likes it. That's not to say that it isn't without its flaws, of course. Indeed, this film--to a large degree--comes off as "trying too hard" to replicate the type of nonchalant, sexual action/attitude that pervades films like "Barbara Broadcast" and so on. Still, in many ways, it's enjoyable and sexy...enough so that I found it a worthy purchase. [read the full review]

Don't be fooled by the fact that this was directed by Radley Metzger, who directed such acknowledged classics as The Opening of Misty Beethoven. This film just doesn't come close to the level of Misty Beethoven, or Metzger's other efforts. The DVD was transfered from an extremely distressed print of the movie. This thing is simply terrible to look at, and there is little eroticism, despite the presence of the superstars of the era, including Leslie Bovee, Gloria Leonard, Constance Money, and Annette Haven. For example, Constance Money's scene consists only of a short handjob. About the only thing that saves this film from being a complete waste is the nasty, kinky S&M scene with C.J. Lang. NOTE: This is not your typical review. Others have done an excellent job reviewing the content, scenes, performances, etc. of this porn classic. This "review" concerns itself with how the DVD's contents compare with the complete, uncut original release version of the film or an early (before prior self-censorship) VHS version. The Ratings given refer either to the "original" version of the film (Performers, Plot, Sex, etc.) or to the DVD version (Extras, Value, etc.) and are relatively arbitrary. The important info is that which follows. MARASCHINO CHERRY DVD IS THE PITS! Radley Metzgers last hardcore effort under his Henry Paris nom-de-film is finally available on DVD from Video-X-Pix. Well, they saved the worst for last and by that, I dont mean from a content standpoint! While Maraschino Cherry is generally regarded as the weakest of that group of films, even Metzgers weakest efforts far outstrip those of most of his porn peers and successors, IM (and many others) HO. Armand Weston was one of the finest directors ever to make hardcore films. Although he usually crafted dark and depressing tales, this 1978 film was his foray into comedy. review from 3/7/2005:
This 1978 feature directed by "Armand Weston" is a good example of "golden age" adult filmmaking. The plot is a take off on the Oscar Wilde story, "The Picture of Dorian Grey." The protagonist's name has been changed from Dorian Grey to "Darrin Blue," (played amazingly by Wade Nichols). And instead of a painting, his youthful image is captured on a porn film that his liberated 1920's flapper girlfriend (Georgina Spelvin) secretly had made of them making love outdoors. When she shows it to him later, he wishes that the image on the film could get old, and that he could stay youthful forever. You might have guessed that that is exactly what happens. The 1930s have Wade Nichols doing a remarkable imitation of James Cagney, during the 1940s, he's doing Humphrey Bogart (and Annette Haven). During the 50s, he's doing James Dean and making love on his motocycle. During the 1960s, still as youthful as ever, he is, you guessed it, a hippie doing drugs and having an orgy. Since this was shot in the 1970s, that brings us up to the present. [read the full review]

review from 2/8/2006:
Very "dark" plot including scenes of kidnapping, bondage and forced sex. The acting is fairly good although the A/V quality isn't the best (e.g. - some sex scenes substitute music for the actual sounds from the actors/actresses). This movie is famous for as lustful a lesbian scene as you will ever see. In it, Leslie Bovee eats, nay, devours Abigail Clayton's sweet, young pussy so voraciously, it borders on cannibalism. The camerawork is terrific as Abigail appears to gasp while Bovee firmly holds onto her squirming, orgasming body - feverishly sucking and tongue-lashing the pretty young actress' spasming pussy with all of her sexual energy until it actually seems that Clayton can take no more (this is one scene where the actual moans, groans and lip-smacking from the actresses would have added to the already volcanic nature of the action). Length: 84:20 Year: 1977 The Caballero dvd of A Coming Of Angels is presented in full-screen which doesnt appear to be correct because during the ending credits the names are cut off on the left and right of the screen, but during the rest of the movie you dont notice anything really being cut off. Unlike earlier Caballero dvds this one is on one track so you dont have those layer changes that cause the pauses, such as on Amanda By Night. The story to this movie is that Mark (Jamie Gillis) is an evil kidnapper who sells the women he kidnaps to various buyers. Before he does this though he and his evil sidekicks train the women how to be sexually submissive. This movie was meant to be a take off of Charlies Angels, with Carrie (Annette Haven), Jennifer (Abigail Clayton), and Robin (Leslie Bovee) playing the angels. Jennifer has been kidnapped by Mark and his gang and so the other two angels are out to find her and that is the basic plot to the movie. Robert (John Leslie) has a serious problem throughout the movie. [read the full review]

Indeed, they're seeking sexual liberation and fulfillment--in one form or another--and "Sex World" is just the place to give it to them. Such is the case in Anthony Spinelli's 1977 release of the same title, a landmark film in the history of adult fare. [read the full review]

review from 8/29/2005:
Anthony Spinelli's "Sex World" is a movie that I have been wanting to see for a very long time. I finally obtained a copy of this 1978 classic and the wait was well worth it. As an adult movie with a real plot and actors who could actually act, this film is effective on several levels: As erotica, a character study, and a psychological drama. There are many characters to keep track of here and the movie is practically a who's who of porn in 1978. The story revolves around a group of people taking a chartered bus to a resort known as "Sex World". The characters include Annette Haven as a lesbian left by her lover (Cris Cassidy), who comes to the resort looking for a heterosexual encounter; an adult movie enthusiast (Sharon Thorpe) who can't express her desires in real life; a racist (John Leslie) who is slowly seduced by black beauty Desiree West, and several couples having various sexual problems. The sex scenes themselves are pretty short, since they are so numerous in number, but they are all beautifully shot and uniquely erotic. [read the full review]

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants plot, chemistry, and real people Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants implants, razor burn, and extreme sex Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a bit on the muffled side, but normally well balanced. Bruce, Sara Tulip, Alan Fink, and the Belly High Dance Troupe Initial Expectations: This one sound like a lot of fun. Initial Reaction: Its a lot of fun but not much of a porno. Audio /Video Quality: Its a classic, so one shouldnt expect it to look like a recently made movie. Even without considering the age, the audio is pretty clear. When considering the age, its great. The video suffers a little more. Its grainy and often very fuzzy with some relics. Music: The 70s music you know and love. Make that the 70s music you know. Review: The Senators Daughter is a lot of fun but its a little disappointing as a porno. Yes, normally the sex scenes in classic porn arent as long or defined as in modern porn but theyre even less so here. [read the full review]

review from 6/19/2017:
All bets are off when a struggling actor who also happens to be a smooth-talking ladies' man, Jamie Gillis, signs on to be a part of a plot hatched by a wealthy, Hollywood mogul to cheat his relatives (a sister and four nieces) out of their inheritance from his dying (...and wealthier...) anti-sex crusader of a brother. Of course, this is a porno, so Jamie and his pals (John Leslie and Paul Thomas) are tasked with bedding all of the women in the family (with proof) to demonstrate their profound lack of morality and to get them kicked out of the will. The only thing that might get in the way of such an "easy", foolproof plan? Love. Such is the case in "The Ecstasy Girls", an exceptional, 1979 release from Caballero and director Robert McCallum. review from 1/15/2002:
Here is a splendid little classic from 1979, produced by Harold Lime and directed by Robert McCallum. As is usual with "Golden Age" classics, the plot, acting, exterior shots and general production values are outstanding. This flick was shot on location in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. They dont make them like this anymore. Jamie Gillis plays a washed up B-movie star who is down on his luck. He has been reduced to escorting starlets to movie premieres, a service for which his agent pays him a few bucks plus expenses. He still makes the rounds of Hollywood parties, however, and at one such event, his host, J.C. Church, observes him seducing Desiree Cousteau. It is a hypnotic scene; Cousteau was a beautiful girl with wonderful, natural breasts. Georgina Spelvin secretly observes them, while being secretly observed herself by J.C. Church telephones Gillis that night with an interesting proposition. J.C. is the brother of Edgar Church, a rich industrialist from whom J.C. stands to inherit money. [read the full review]

Starring: Annette Haven, Sharon Mitchell, Seka, Lisa Deleeuw, Bridgette Monet, Lee Carrol, Abigail Clayton, Veronica Hart, Serena Eric Edwards, Paul Thomas, Jamie Gillis, Hershel Savage First of all, let it be understood that I hold no porn prejudices. If people want to have sex for my entertainment, who am I not to watch them? That means, among other things, that I have absolutely nothing against "old school" porn. By the same token, however, I don't think "classic" movies are inherently better than what's made today. With that in mind, Blue Ribbon Blue presents itself as a greatest hits package of classic stars. Unfortunately, it's not. In fact, it was produced years ago before its performers were even considered legends, and its poor mastering reflect just how much of a thrown together effort it actually is. Had they known that it would be released in the 21st century, it's producers may have paid closer attention to what they included. [read the full review]

review from 10/23/2004:
This was shot on location in Hawaii and features dozens of exterior shots of the island, as well as a sailboat, a helicopter, some scuba footage, an Aloha airliner, etc. The "Double Indemnity"/"Body Heat" style plot far exceeds any plot you'll see in today's porn. On the downside, this is 24 year-old footage, and it shows. The DVD transfer was pretty good, but the film itself is damaged and peppered with scratches and white spots. Moreover, the women doing porn in the late 1970's were pretty homely by today's standards, but Leslie Bovee is a very handsome woman and exudes an earthy sensuality. On the extras side, there is a full motion chapter-stops menu. The multi-angle gimmick is a complete waste of time, because most of the extra angles are just mirror images. The commentary track is the king of all DVD extras, but none of the people associated with this project are still around and willing to participate. Holmes passed away in 1988, and Leslie Bovee has been out of the business for twenty years. [read the full review]

review from 12/8/1999:
Eruption, a 1978 film starring Holmes and Leslie Bovee, shot on location in Hawaii, is the perfect example of Holmes the actor (instead of just Holmes the big, wonderful cock.) As with other classic porno, Eruption had a complete plot intermingled with hot sex. The story was very Magnum PI-like, and not just because it was filmed in Hawaii. Holmes plays an insurance sales guy who helps Bovee kill her husband to collect on a life insurance policy. The movie has plot twists and exciting moments that don't involve sex (seriously.)You get to watch the Holmes' penis rise to the occasion over and over again -these are captivating moments -getting this man hard is a slow, sensual process. The reputation and "importance" of certain writers rise and fall like tech stocks. Who's better, Faulkner or Salinger? Hawthorne or Cooper? To consider such questions is all mental masturbation when you get right down to it, so it's only natural that porn would follow suite. Jim Holliday, director and self-appointed porn historian, put together a little documentary years ago called Legends of Porn, in which he goes over what he believes to be the cannon of American blue movie stars. The Top 25 Adult Stars of All Time Directed by Various Running time (approx): 240mins I think there is a very good reason why many hold the classic era of porn (70s, 80s) in such high regard. For me when I first saw films like this, they were normally passed to me on very low quality VHS, sometimes with no sound, or a picture so bad it was almost unwatchable. Porn back then was the holy grail. It was next to impossible to widely obtain (at least here in the UK) and just seeing real sex was amazing. Now it is different. Hardcore for one, is legal in the UK. Porn is now on DVD and the picture quality is never an issue (at least by no means the issue it was) and also, such beautiful women are ready and willing to shed their inhibitions for your viewing enjoyment. It is a different world now, and for me I have come to the realisation that yes, porn in the past was special because it was so forbidden and unobtainable but porn now is in a different league. We compulsively make them, whether they are of our favorite rock bands, favorite movies, best places to eat ribs, favorite sexual positions, or whatever there is in the world that can be counted. It's only natural, then, that there would be a list of the all-time greatest porn stars. Look to the Polls Forum of this very web site, and you'll see such matters continuously debated. Of course, there could be no official list; sex is much too subjective. [read the full review]
