Champagne for Breakfast review summaries:
fu_q's
Emboldened by a female colleague's wanton activities, a newly-minted, cosmetic industry Vice President, the stunning legend, Lesllie Bovee, embarks upon a quest of sexual exploration and gratification around her home base of San Francisco. Given her rising station in life, she's in need of a trustworthy bodyguard to keep her safe, which she finds in the down-on-his-luck smooth-talker and former Navy boxer, John Leslie, who pretends to be gay to get the job. Of course, John's charade, coupled with both of their prurient proclivities, results in a powder keg that's simply bound to explode...in all manner of fucking. Such is the case in "Champagne for Breakfast", a very good, 1980 release from Chris Warfield and re-mastered by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

Crime doesn't pay, but it sure can be sexy, or so goes the moral of "Eruption", an exceptional, 1976 release from Cal Vista and director Stanley Kurlan. Starring the utterly breathtaking brunette, Lesllie Bovee, and everyone's favorite action cock-slinger, John Holmes, as a duo who meets on the beach and hatches a plot to knock off Bovee's rich hubby for insurance money, this flick offers up a full and engrossing plot...and plenty of hot sex. Chuck Vincent was truly an outstanding director who had a flare for great comedy and great drama, and he shot both with a surprisingly affectionate flare. This is one of his lesser seen films but it's cast and director automatically make it worth watching. Vincent creates a light, fluffy, and very amusing comedy that never knocked me out of my seat with its humor but proved an extremely fun and enjoyable film viewing experience. [read the full review]

"Maraschino Cherry" is an interesting release from 1978, Radley Metzger, and Video-X-Pix that, once again, appears that I'm going to be the only one who really likes it. That's not to say that it isn't without its flaws, of course. Indeed, this film--to a large degree--comes off as "trying too hard" to replicate the type of nonchalant, sexual action/attitude that pervades films like "Barbara Broadcast" and so on. Still, in many ways, it's enjoyable and sexy...enough so that I found it a worthy purchase. [read the full review]

Don't be fooled by the fact that this was directed by Radley Metzger, who directed such acknowledged classics as The Opening of Misty Beethoven. This film just doesn't come close to the level of Misty Beethoven, or Metzger's other efforts. The DVD was transfered from an extremely distressed print of the movie. This thing is simply terrible to look at, and there is little eroticism, despite the presence of the superstars of the era, including Leslie Bovee, Gloria Leonard, Constance Money, and Annette Haven. For example, Constance Money's scene consists only of a short handjob. About the only thing that saves this film from being a complete waste is the nasty, kinky S&M scene with C.J. Lang. NOTE: This is not your typical review. Others have done an excellent job reviewing the content, scenes, performances, etc. of this porn classic. This "review" concerns itself with how the DVD's contents compare with the complete, uncut original release version of the film or an early (before prior self-censorship) VHS version. The Ratings given refer either to the "original" version of the film (Performers, Plot, Sex, etc.) or to the DVD version (Extras, Value, etc.) and are relatively arbitrary. The important info is that which follows. MARASCHINO CHERRY DVD IS THE PITS! Radley Metzgers last hardcore effort under his Henry Paris nom-de-film is finally available on DVD from Video-X-Pix. Well, they saved the worst for last and by that, I dont mean from a content standpoint! While Maraschino Cherry is generally regarded as the weakest of that group of films, even Metzgers weakest efforts far outstrip those of most of his porn peers and successors, IM (and many others) HO. Armand Weston was one of the finest directors ever to make hardcore films. Although he usually crafted dark and depressing tales, this 1978 film was his foray into comedy. With a fantastic cast of regulars, and Leslie Bovee as the female lead, Weston crafted a wonderful, skilfully acted, sumptuously shot, and cleverly written parody of films of American culture from the 30s to the 60s. This 1978 feature directed by "Armand Weston" is a good example of "golden age" adult filmmaking. The plot is a take off on the Oscar Wilde story, "The Picture of Dorian Grey." The protagonist's name has been changed from Dorian Grey to "Darrin Blue," (played amazingly by Wade Nichols). And instead of a painting, his youthful image is captured on a porn film that his liberated 1920's flapper girlfriend (Georgina Spelvin) secretly had made of them making love outdoors. When she shows it to him later, he wishes that the image on the film could get old, and that he could stay youthful forever. You might have guessed that that is exactly what happens. The 1930s have Wade Nichols doing a remarkable imitation of James Cagney, during the 1940s, he's doing Humphrey Bogart (and Annette Haven). During the 50s, he's doing James Dean and making love on his motocycle. During the 1960s, still as youthful as ever, he is, you guessed it, a hippie doing drugs and having an orgy. Since this was shot in the 1970s, that brings us up to the present. [read the full review]

Mixing science and sexuality to help its clients fulfill their most intimate and deepest of desires, "Sex World" is a resort that ushers in groups of hand-picked tourists who are looking for a bit more out of their getaway than the standard vacation has to offer. Indeed, they're seeking sexual liberation and fulfillment--in one form or another--and "Sex World" is just the place to give it to them. Such is the case in Anthony Spinelli's 1977 release of the same title, a landmark film in the history of adult fare. [read the full review]

Anthony Spinelli's "Sex World" is a movie that I have been wanting to see for a very long time. I finally obtained a copy of this 1978 classic and the wait was well worth it. As an adult movie with a real plot and actors who could actually act, this film is effective on several levels: As erotica, a character study, and a psychological drama. There are many characters to keep track of here and the movie is practically a who's who of porn in 1978. The story revolves around a group of people taking a chartered bus to a resort known as "Sex World". The characters include Annette Haven as a lesbian left by her lover (Cris Cassidy), who comes to the resort looking for a heterosexual encounter; an adult movie enthusiast (Sharon Thorpe) who can't express her desires in real life; a racist (John Leslie) who is slowly seduced by black beauty Desiree West, and several couples having various sexual problems. The sex scenes themselves are pretty short, since they are so numerous in number, but they are all beautifully shot and uniquely erotic. [read the full review]

Audio /Video Quality: Its a classic, so one shouldnt expect it to look like a recently made movie. Even without considering the age, the audio is pretty clear. When considering the age, its great. The video suffers a little more. Its grainy and often very fuzzy with some relics. Music: The 70s music you know and love. Make that the 70s music you know. If people want to have sex for my entertainment, who am I not to watch them? That means, among other things, that I have absolutely nothing against "old school" porn. By the same token, however, I don't think "classic" movies are inherently better than what's made today. With that in mind, Blue Ribbon Blue presents itself as a greatest hits package of classic stars. Unfortunately, it's not. In fact, it was produced years ago before its performers were even considered legends, and its poor mastering reflect just how much of a thrown together effort it actually is. Had they known that it would be released in the 21st century, it's producers may have paid closer attention to what they included. [read the full review]
