Initial Expectations: YogaGrrl really enjoyed this feature, who I normally agree with very well. Flash’s review wasn’t so kind, who also normally shows some great taste, so I’m not quite sure what to expect.
Initial Reaction: It’s just why people still long for golden age porn.
Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants plot, chemistry, and real people
Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants implants, razor burn, and extreme sex
Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a bit on the muffled side, but normally well balanced. For porn of this age, though, it does seem very good, although there is a minute or two without any audio. The video is on the soft side, and has a slight bit of grain throughout the entire feature. Once again, for the age of the feature, it looks very good. There are a few artifacts that flick by throughout the feature, but overall it looks very good for its age.
Music: The music is just what you’d expect from the late seventies. It ranges between a nice balance and being a bit loud.
Disc Problems / Complaints: First, there’s the false advertising. The cover claims photo shots, and there aren’t any. Then there’s the semantics which borders on false advertising. The cover claims an animated main menu and animated jump to scene. Both of these are true, but have the same type of retarded thought that awards old ladies millions of dollars for suing companies about serving hot coffee. The main menu sways back and forth as it takes the screen and then just sits there, much like VCX probably treats the source material. The chapter menu has some moving crap behind the scene stills that you can’t make out but can tell is moving. I guess you can say that there’s animation to both of these menus, but it’s so minimal and poorly done that I wouldn’t recommend doing so. There’s also the copyright stamp at the top and bottom of the screen for a good portion of the feature. Finally, the audio completely disappears for a couple minutes around the one hour point of the movie. I’m not sure, but I’m guessing this might be to censor out some controversial dialogue. Combined, they’re enough for me to drop a half point from the overall rating.
Menus: The menus are very cheesy, and not in the good way. They look shoddily put together and are barely animated in any way that counts. The chapter menu gives you a wide range of locations you can jump to in the feature.
The Feature: Everybody has their own sexual longings, and it’s not always easy to share them with your partner. Luckily, there’s Sex World, where those fantasies can become a reality. Everybody comes to Sex World for different reasons, some to add a little fun and variety to their marriage, some to try and save their marriage, and some to try something they wouldn’t dare with their partner. As everybody’s told, if you can imagine it, they can do it.
Leslie Bovee starts out getting her rug munched by Kent Hall after he gets home from work. She doesn’t bother sucking his cock, since he’s already ready to go after looking at the nude woman she painted, and they get right on with fucking like monkeys. I should point out that although they are fucking like monkeys, there’s no poop throwing since I think that’s reserved for German releases. There’s a little break in the middle of the action, and when it restarts Leslie goes to work on Kent’s cock orally until he pops in her mouth. It’s a very nice opening scene that does a good job showing the reality that’s so prevalent in golden age porn. It’s a short scene, and feels fairly realistic in its length for many peoples’ real life quickies.
Sharon Thorpe enjoys a little phone sex in the next scene. She calls Peter Johns and they masturbate while talking to each other on the phone. Peter lubes himself up and strokes himself, while Sharon plays with herself over and under her clothes. It’s a pretty hot scene, but has a bit of a disturbing nature at times.
John Leslie gets a lesson he might never forget from Desiree West. He resists a trip to the dark side of the street, but Desiree insists she can show him that his spigot ain’t no bigot, gradually turning him on by showing off her great body. John works Desiree through several positions before she jerks him onto his stomach. It’s an all around hot scene, but unfortunately is spread out over more than a half hour.
Kent Hall enters his fantasy much more willingly as Carole Tong brings him home to meet her roommate Amber Hunt, and then stays to watch the girls take care of each other. He talks about leaving a few times, but the girls manage to convince him to stay using a very convincing oral argument. The scene pretty much ends there, and doesn’t even include a pop shot. It’s still a hot scene, and somehow seems to work even without the pop.
Leslie Bovee explores her feelings about Abigail Clayton, the woman who lives next door, next. Leslie resists at first, but gradually gives in to the temptations of Abigail’s tongue. It’s a very short scene, and one that I really wish would have gone on longer. As is, it’s a great start, but feels like it’s only showing a small fraction of what happened.
Kay Parker gets some of the aggressive love she desires from Joey Silvera not knowing that her husband Jack Wright is watching. Joey slaps her around and forcibly makes her suck his cock before fucking her. She begs him to stop for much of the scene, but it’s just what she wanted for her fantasy. Once again there’s no pop, and a few people might be a little put off by the scene due to the forcible nature.
Jack is finally drawn away by Maureen Spring, who looks like his mother. She rides him until he pops, and then sucks up his joy juice. Afterwards, they each pleasure each other orally. It’s a good scene with great chemistry, and once again felt like it could have gone on longer.
Annette Haven fantasizes about Cris Cassidy, the lesbian lover that left her before Roberto Ramos comes to her room. She’s trying to regain control of herself and her emotions, and guides the entire scene. It’s a really great scene right from the start, and one that anybody who’s been left by a lover can probably identify very well with. It’s very soft, but feels right for the fantasy.
Finally, Sharon Thorpe wants somebody to notice her, but when somebody really does, she can’t deal with it. Luckily she still has her Behind the Green Door fantasy with Johnnie Keyes. As usual, there isn’t much of a warmup before they get down to the fucking, which is done in slow motion, and finishing .
Sex World is a very good adult film. The plot is loose, but provides a great framework for a wide range of scenes. It’s also there just enough to remind you that everything is done in a controlled environment, which makes some of the situations much more tolerable. The sex is short, but also fairly realistic in its tone. Rather than providing guys who appear to be able to go hours on end without changing position, let alone popping, it shows people who often go on for what’s probably a realistic amount of time for most people. It also shows both sides of fantasies being explored, both in it building things for the future and tearing down what’s already there, even if it is good. On the negative side, the sex does suffer a bit at times because some of the scenes are cut together a bit much. It’s not much of a complaint with how short many of the scenes are, but I know I would have really liked to have seen all of John Leslie and Leslie Bovee’s scene at once. Sex World is a very well done adult film, and one that fans of golden age porn are almost sure to enjoy.
Extras: None.
Themes: Straight, masturbation, phone sex, inter-racial, lesbian, group, rough sex, forced sex, voyeurism, and incest
Raincoat Factor: Medium low
Overall: Most VCX titles can be found online for between about $13 and $25 with stores offering them everywhere in between. If you’re a fan of golden age porn, or even just curious about it, this is a great place to start for not much money. The women are hot, the plot fun, and the sex has some great chemistry and variety. Unfortunately there isn’t anything for extras, but the transfer is still quite good.
Note to VCX: Please be more honest in your covers. I have a feeling that if a big name star had their elbow brush the edge of the screen you’d be listing that too.
