review from 4/11/2021:
Hired to ghost-write a book by a wealthy socialite (Kay Parker), Eric Edwards encounters--and takes advantage of--a world in which just about everyone is corrupt. From Parker''s and her husband''s (John Leslie''s) cheating ways to an au pair with sticky fingers (Rikki Harte) to Edwards'' quasi-girlfriend/stripper (Tina Marie), everybody seems to have an angle. The only innocent one? Parker''s and Leslie''s blind daughter (Joanna Storm)...who''s naively looking for love. So goes "Firestorm", an exceptional 1984 release from director Cecil Howard and Command Video. [read the full review]

review from 2/21/2018:
A Taboo Identity is a great documentary for fans of the adult movie industry, especially fans of the golden age of adult films. Not only does A Taboo Identity chronicle what Kay Taylor Parker has done since she retired from acting in adult films, the movie also tackles the stigma of life after adult movie acting and the difference between how adult actors and actresses are perceived by the public versus how the actors and actresses view themselves. Soundview Media Partners and MVD Visual have done a nice job with their DVD release of A Taboo Identity with nice audio and video quality. [read the full review]

In this 1983 romantic comedy porno film. Adult film stars Linda Hand(Jesie St. James), and Lance Hardy(John Leslie), are two of the most well-known stars in the adult film business, as they have appeared together in many pictures, for Sensational International Pictures, which is owned and operated by Bernard Kuntz(David F. Friedman) and Harvey Cox(Elmo Lavino). All is well for everyone, until there is friction between the two stars on the set of their latest movie entitled Matinee Idol. It is turmoil, which sends both Kuntz and Cox into a frenzy, as they look to finish the picture, as their investors put the pressure on them. [read the full review]

The fourth entry into the popular TABOO series, TABOO IV: THE YOUNGER GENERATION is a 1985 film, centering around Dr. Jeremy Lodge(Jamie Gillis), a Psychologist specializing in incest. The Author of a book, titled, Incest: The Family Taboo , Lodge makes the rounds educating those about incest, and what could be the cause of it. He believing that adultery to be one of the main culprits. Besides making promotional tours, and doing things such as radio shows, the topic of incestuous relations is also the subject of weekly meetings between he and his patients(Among them, Barbra Scott and Joyce McBride from the saga's previous entries). But, no matter how morally correct Jeremy's life appears, it is just a thin veil for the inner turmoil within his own family. [read the full review]

Flash's
review from 12/20/2016:
Taboo 2, while not as good as Kirdy Stevens' original Taboo, is an enjoyable feature adult film. The cast does an amazing job with their sex scenes and do a great job with the non-sexual scenes. Taboo 3, on the other hand, is a massive let down with a poor story that does little to connect with the first two films and seems like just an attempt to cash in on the Taboo name. Most viewers likely won't have any interest seeing the film more than once. Taboo 2 makes this release worth picking up. Vinegar Syndrome has done a great job with this release. Taboo 2 has some issues with the video and audio but is still the best release of Taboo 2 on the market and Taboo 3 looks absolutely stunning. [read the full review]

"X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of all Time" is a good, albeit fluffy, documentary hosted by Chanel Preston that offers up about an hour-and-a-half's worth of material that puts forth its creators' views of the best that the adult genre has to offer. Documenting films both past and present, the selections start with the "Deep Throat" era and go up essentially through the modern day (...to, say, about five years ago). [read the full review]

X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Films of All-Time is a fun look at a series of films and movies that are culturally important to the adult entertainment industry from 1972 until 2013. X-Rated skimps on the historical impact that each of the included films had. However, the documentary is a nostalgic look through some of the best films to ever grace the blue screen. After the documentary is over, if you are a fan of feature films, you will want to rewatch films you had forgotten about and seek out others that you have missed. X-Rated is definitely a fun watch for fans of the feature film genre. [read the full review]

Emboldened by a female colleague's wanton activities, a newly-minted, cosmetic industry Vice President, the stunning legend, Lesllie Bovee, embarks upon a quest of sexual exploration and gratification around her home base of San Francisco. Given her rising station in life, she's in need of a trustworthy bodyguard to keep her safe, which she finds in the down-on-his-luck smooth-talker and former Navy boxer, John Leslie, who pretends to be gay to get the job. Of course, John's charade, coupled with both of their prurient proclivities, results in a powder keg that's simply bound to explode...in all manner of fucking. Such is the case in "Champagne for Breakfast", a very good, 1980 release from Chris Warfield and re-mastered by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

Mixing science and sexuality to help its clients fulfill their most intimate and deepest of desires, "Sex World" is a resort that ushers in groups of hand-picked tourists who are looking for a bit more out of their getaway than the standard vacation has to offer. Indeed, they're seeking sexual liberation and fulfillment--in one form or another--and Sex World is just the place to give it to them. Of course, along the way, the complexity and intricate, interwoven nature of human sexuality is explored. Such is the case in Anthony Spinelli's 1977 release of the same title, a landmark film in the history of adult fare. [read the full review]

review from 11/10/2015:
Dracula Sucks is an odd, high budget, and very fun adult film, which could have only come out of the 1970s adult film industry. While constantly trying to straddle the line of mainstream comedy and adult horror, and never 100 percent succeeding at any of these tasks, the end result is a unique experience that has a lot to offer viewers looking for more than just copulation. An anthology of early 80s era porn. A couple people actually deserve the "superstar" status but most don't. The credits (and lack thereof) defy logic. Thirteen scenes from what some say is the golden age of porn. Unfortunately many of these film prints have gotten a bit faded through the years and aren't restored to their glory here. We are so used to hardcore today, that some of these scenes aren't quite fulfilling anymore...and the musical soundtrack is certainly something I'm glad has gone the way of the eight track tape player. Anyhow, here is a listing of the scenes and if hardcore, it is mentioned. Flick is narrated by Jim Holliday who adds a few tidbits about the women. [read the full review]

review from 10/3/2009:
A collection of gold and silver-era big-boob stars in clips from their films. The sex is definitely from that period--less harsh but a little less explicit. This was transferred over from VHS and the video quality is lacking, sounds is uneven. It's a good compilation if you like that era of soft bodies and (mostly) natural boobs, but the video quality makes this less attractive than most "regular" videos. [read the full review]

review from 8/3/2016:
It seems that just about everyone is up against a new, hard-assed English teacher at Vista Valley High (the lovely Jesie St. James) who's been brought in to whip the unruly school back into shape. Known more for its chaos, beatings, and rapes than its academic rigor, it seems that the students (...and their parents...) at the school are far more interested in fucking around--and just plain fucking, for that matter--than they are in bettering themselves. Indeed, their problems run deep and spread wide, and whether Jesie will be able to set things right and get them back on the straight and narrow...or whether she'll ultimately find herself entangled in their intricate web of carnal corruption...remains to be seen. It's going to take plenty of courage, hope, and sex (...and more than a bit of luck...) to keep open the "Feline Farm", a longstanding, Deep South brothel operated by Annette Haven, when a local preacher sics his Bible-thumping flock on the establishment. Such is the case in "Memphis Cathouse Blues", an overall-good, 1982 release from director Louis Lewis and Caballero. [read the full review]

A disinterested, sports-obsessed, young woman (Melanie Scott) finds herself entangled in a web of lies and deceit when she tells her horny neighbor (Tom Byron) that she's been sleeping with the local stud (Steve Douglas) in response to him taunting her. Of course, initially, she tries to get Douglas to go along with the whole thing--which he does--all while keeping things platonic. Unfortunately (....or, perhaps, fortunately...) for her, her budding libido and awakening sexuality have their own say in the matter. Upon uncovering his wife's flagrantly adulterous ways, Jamie Gillis, an esteemed psychiatrist, succumbs to his own sexual desires and proclivities in "Taboo 9". An overall-good, 1991 release from Metro and director Alex DeRenzy, this film loosely ties in with prior installments of the series, both with the non-sex presence of Kay Parker, who reprises her earliest role, and also via dizzying flashbacks to prior material (clips). With the incest themes found in previous episodes largely relegated to the clips, this production focuses heavily upon adultery, with a bit of TS and cross-dressing kink thrown in for good measure, as well. While not up to the same level in terms of both storyline and heat as some of its predecessors, this one is still good and certainly worthy of a watch...particularly for fans of the series. review from 8/29/2005:
Anthony Spinelli's "Sex World" is a movie that I have been wanting to see for a very long time. I finally obtained a copy of this 1978 classic and the wait was well worth it. As an adult movie with a real plot and actors who could actually act, this film is effective on several levels: As erotica, a character study, and a psychological drama. There are many characters to keep track of here and the movie is practically a who's who of porn in 1978. The story revolves around a group of people taking a chartered bus to a resort known as "Sex World". The characters include Annette Haven as a lesbian left by her lover (Cris Cassidy), who comes to the resort looking for a heterosexual encounter; an adult movie enthusiast (Sharon Thorpe) who can't express her desires in real life; a racist (John Leslie) who is slowly seduced by black beauty Desiree West, and several couples having various sexual problems. The sex scenes themselves are pretty short, since they are so numerous in number, but they are all beautifully shot and uniquely erotic. [read the full review]

review from 9/2/2017:
Talk of a local whorehouse at a dinner party rekindles old memories and repressed desires buried surface-deep within Annette Haven, a seemingly proper housewife with an extremely sexual past, prompting her to explore and act out her innermost fantasies in real life. Almost uncontrollably, she goes about doing so, giving in to each and every erotic whim along the way...often driven simply by shear impulse. She blows her hubby's friend (Paul Thomas) early on in her progression, has sex with perverts in an X-rated theatre, prostitutes herself out to a sailor on the street, and eventually ends up working at the bordello itself...all unbeknownst to her husband at home, John Leslie. With the expression of her sexual proclivities magnifying and escalating at every turn, and nothing but a slight bit of subconscious remorse to put the brakes on, Annette finds herself quickly spinning into the depths of sexual deviation...and enjoying every minute of it. Such is the case in "V the Hot One". [read the full review]

review from 8/21/2005:
Vaguely based on the popular song of the time, "Harper Valley PTA," this old-school movie-with-a-plot is about a new teacher (Jessie St. James) and the students and parents of Vista Valley High School. Forget the plot, because like most porn movies it's just a method of setting scenes and it's pretty worthless. The real attraction of this movie is its stars, which reads like a who's who of porn circa 1980. Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay (credited on screen as Lexmax), Juliett Anderson, Kay Parker (on screen as Kay Taylor) Jamie Gillis and John Leslie are all in their prime. By modern standards the scenes are often missing something--the camera doesn't get every little thing the way it does now, and a lot of scenes seem shorter than one might expect. Almost everyone gets only one sex-scene in the movie, including Kay and Juliett, who would become two of porn's biggest stars, and Jessie St. James, the star of the movie. The DVD itself is no-frills. It divides the movie into six chapters, so expect a lot of fast-forwarding if you want to see something in particular. [read the full review]

review from 3/24/2002:
Old timers will recognize the reference to "Harper Valley P.T.A.," a story song written by Tom T. Hall and recorded by Jeannie C. Riley in 1968. The song went to number one on both the pop and country charts, and later became the concept of a 1978 movie starring Barbara Eden, as well as a short-lived TV series also starring Eden. This film was shot around 1979 or 1980, and it is hot!! Jessie St. James is the star, but there is a lot of good female talent including Dorothy LeMay, Kay parker, and Sharon Kane. This film is surprisingly mean spirited, and some people will be disturbed by depictions of incest (compare the Kane-Gillis coupling in this film with the duo's scene in Michael Ninn's New Wave Hookers, almost 20 years later). The film is plot driven and the sex scenes are typically much shorter than today, but they are very effective. The film was shot on film, and the DVD transfer is very good. The extras are the usual from Nu-Tech, nothing spectacular. [read the full review]

Starring: Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay, Sharon Kane, Kay Parker, Juliet Anderson, Brooke West, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, John Seaman Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Inspired, of course, by Harper Valley PTA, Vista Valley PTA puts Jessie St. James in the Barbara Eden role of a new teacher at a troubled small town high school. The original movie was a comedy based on a popular song. This time, we know from where the inspiration comes, but it's not so easy to label this as comedy, melodrama, or anything else. I suppose the term "porn" will have to suffice. Shot in the early 80's, Vista Valley PTA is considered a classic if only for it's age, but God bless NuTech Digital for releasing it despite it's dated look. [read the full review]

A feature from the early 80s. Kay Parker is a therapist brought in to coax withdrawn teen Tom Byron out of his shell. Mainly MF sex with one FF bathtub scene, one solo-female scene, and a brief j/o by Tom Byron. Your opinion will largely depend on whether you like Playboy or Hustler, as this is definitely the former. Sex is vanilla and not so explicit as modern stuff. Kay Parker is only in one sex scene. If we were called upon to write essays on irony, tragedy, flawed characters, or any of the other big dramatic topics for discussion, I always turned to that father killing, eye poking, incestuous king for source material. Of course, I didn't know shit about Medea or Troilus and Cressida, but I didn't have to; I had my regal Greek motherfuckers down. Kirdy Stevens' Taboo barely resembles the themes of Oedipus Rex, and we all agree that it's unfair to hold any pornographic work to the same standard of Sophocles' greatest play, and yet I'm gonna do it anyway. Taboo is the story of a boy and his mother. [read the full review]
