"Dracula Sucks"...and so does the movie. Despite featuring a veritable Who's Who of the Golden Age of adult films (with the likes of Annette Haven, Seka, Serena, Kay Parker, Jamie Gillis, Paul Thomas, John Leslie, etc. onboard), this film still manages to fall flatter than piss on a plate in just about every conceivable manner. Its sex (if one can call it that) is far too frequently mis-cut, cut short, or effectively nonexistent. Likewise, its plot and premise are minimally engrossing, at best, dragging from one repetitive, drawn-out, uninspiring scene to the next, to the point where even the cast's acting chops (which are generally substantial) can't save it from spiraling into pointlessness. [In this regard, Jamie Gillis assumes the role of Dracula, who finds himself as both a Transylvanian transplant in the desert and also the neighbor of a local insane asylum. He spends the entirety of the film surreptitiously--and then not-so-surreptitiously--trying to lure the various inmates, doctors, and their associates (particularly Anette Haven) into his evil clutches. Defeating him, which largely falls to Dr. Van Helsing's knowledge and acumen, ultimately becomes the big deal.] Incorporated along the way are some bizarre moments, both character-wise and also taking the form of old, radio-like overdubs (think: Orson Welles, but shitty) that play over the film from time to time, though these simply serve to hasten this flick's decent--particularly when used as a mechanism for advancing the storyline--and do nothing to enrich it. While Vinegar Syndrome's efforts are--in a larger sense--typically quite laudable, there are some turds that simply can't be polished, and--in the humble opinion of this reviewer--this is one of them. Don't waste your time or money on this flick. Odd doesn't necessarily equate to "good", and old doesn't necessarily equate to "classic". Pass.
