Flesh Gordon (Blu-ray) review summaries:
Flash's
review from 11/3/2019:
Flesh Gordon is a softcore parody of Flash Gordon, which combines the right level of camp, cheesy special effects, and ambition behind it to be a fun film, even though the originally conceived hardcore version was never to be. Fans of hardcore films from the 70s should find a lot of fun here, while also trying to find the blue screen actors and actresses from the era in the film hiding in the remaining close to hardcore footage. Hen's Tooth Video has done a decent job with their Blu-ray release of Flesh Gordon. The picture exhibits some heavy grain, and the colors appear to be overly muted in places however, this is likely the best the film will ever look for the home video market. [read the full review]

Portraits of Andrea Palmer is an extremely rewarding adult dramatic thriller for viewers that actually enjoy films with hardcore elements. When Jamie Gillis, sporting a dick-nose pair of glasses, throws a party, all of the masked, costumed freaks--from maids to furries to doctors to magicians and so on--show up...and fuck. What results is a hardcore, nonstop entanglement of flesh involving the likes of John Holmes, Sharon Mitchell, Mai Lin, Misty Dawn, Ron Jeremy, and several other notable performers of its time...and the ensuing action is hot! Such is the case in "Marathon", an exceptional, 1983 release from director Carlos Tobalina and remastered by Vinegar Syndrome. [read the full review]

review from 2/21/2018:
A Taboo Identity is a great documentary for fans of the adult movie industry, especially fans of the golden age of adult films. Not only does A Taboo Identity chronicle what Kay Taylor Parker has done since she retired from acting in adult films, the movie also tackles the stigma of life after adult movie acting and the difference between how adult actors and actresses are perceived by the public versus how the actors and actresses view themselves. Soundview Media Partners and MVD Visual have done a nice job with their DVD release of A Taboo Identity with nice audio and video quality. [read the full review]

Despite featuring a veritable Who's Who of the Golden Age of adult films (with the likes of Annette Haven, Seka, Serena, Kay Parker, Jamie Gillis, Paul Thomas, John Leslie, etc. onboard), this film still manages to fall flatter than piss on a plate in just about every conceivable manner. Dracula Sucks is an odd, high budget, and very fun adult film, which could have only come out of the 1970s adult film industry. While constantly trying to straddle the line of mainstream comedy and adult horror, and never 100 percent succeeding at any of these tasks, the end result is a unique experience that has a lot to offer viewers looking for more than just copulation. review from 1/17/2017:
"Peace through giving a piece" is the theme for this week's hard-hitting episode of "69 Minutes: Evening News", featuring the sarcastic (...though horny...) news anchor, the lovely Tracey Adams, as she delves into the possibility of achieving world peace through increased sexual contact. Of course, this fine, stereotype-filled piece of investigative journalism finds her interviewing a variety of characters from all corners of the globe, from Cold War ambassadors to Middle Eastern dictators to French sexual athletes and so on and so forth. Needless to say, all of these world figures have at least one thing in common: They like fucking as much as Tracey does. Such is the case in this fun, tongue-in-cheek, 1986 parody of the popular, mainstream news show, "60 Minutes", by director Damon Christian and GVC. [read the full review]

Young, Hot N' Nasty Teenage Cruisers is an oddball of a film. It tries very hard to be a rockabilly nostalgia film, but ultimately is a failure. Faked cum shots, loops inserted into the story, missed comedy, and a general failure of a direction for the film pull it down. Raunchy Tonk has made some poor mistakes with the presentation of the film, utilizing a video master, altering the credits, and making the disc non-anamorphic widescreen. review from 12/31/2015:
When a desperate girl on the street sells Kevin James a ring that she stole from her father, his (...sexual...) luck changes...and so does everyone else's who comes into possession of the bejeweled band. Such is the case in "Ring of Desire", a good, 1981 release from Peter Balakoff and Gourmet Video. Indeed, the ring finds itself passed around the various corners--and between the assorted characters--of Hollywood, from lawyers to actresses to writers to prostitutes and so on, and whoever owns it at the time finds him- or herself quite lucky (...as in "getting lucky"...). With a clever, though simple plot, good acting, a number of shorter sex scenes, and a strong cast, this little fuck-flick from yesteryear is actually a lot of fun and worthy of a watch...particularly for fans of the classics. Future Sodom is a story driven flick from the late 80’s. Story plot is irrelevant here as the girls definitely rule. Camera work is excellent and production values are great considering the time frame this was shot. As was the standard back then, the girls all sport fuzzy muffs and no ink, all except Viper that is, and she was truly ahead or her time, sporting major ink and a clean pussy. Like her or hate her look, Viper could definitely show today’s stars a thing or two about being a porn slut. [read the full review]

review from 1/15/2007:
Peter Balakoff (aka Ted Roter) was one of many former exploitation film directors turned hardcore film directors to make ends meat. Some did well while others floundered. Roter is somewhere in the middle. Although his films are frequently poorly shot and feature less than pleasing production values, he makes up for these minor faults through his surprisingly smart scripts and above average acting from his cast of relative unknowns. Here we have two of his least seen films, Hollywood She-Wolves and Paul, Lisa, And Caroline. Although She Wolves is nothing more than a run of the mill porn, PLC is a surprisingly insightful look at a menage-a-trois lifestyle. Roter's stock actress Gena Lee is Caroline, just married to Paul (played handsomely by director Roter) who decide to engage in swinging with Paul's sometimes fling Lisa. Roter creates strong, realistic characters with real problems which are handled with maturity and class. Gena Lee gives another wonderful performance proving that she certainly was one of the finest thespians in the whole of the industry during the late 70s. [read the full review]

Can You be a Pornstar? Episodes 1 and 2 Initial Thoughts: I don't even know how to begin to explain this one, but I guess I start by saying it's awfully entertaining. I didn't see it then, but I am lead to believe that this was a series on one of the adult networks, and this is the DVD and harder hardcore version. Think of it as a Survivor meets Fear Factor reality TV show that focuses on only sexual activities. It's porn reality TV, and it is actually pretty well done. The goal is to see which one of the ladies can or could be a real pornstar. There is a supposed $100,000 prize and a fuck film contract for the winner. Each episode debuts more girls, and they eventually end up with a winner, although this is not the complete series. Personally I hate just about all reality TV shows, but this I found entertaining. If your looking for outright sex, your gonna be a little dissapointed, because the actual sex that is here, is short and awkward really. [read the full review]

Blonde Emmanuelle is an amusing adult take on Casablanca. While Asterix has included the 3D version of the film, the hardcore and R-rated versions are sadly missing. With the hardcore sex scenes missing it becomes a little more obvious how the plot was designed to go from sex scene to sex scene but the thin plot is still fun, the film features a great cast, and the humor still works. Asterix has done a disappointing job with the release with problems with the transfer, only a few truly good extras, and the lack of versions present on the release. Director Stephen Gibson said that there is a 3D Blu-ray coming for the title so it is recommended that you not seek out the old Asterix DVD and wait for the Blu-ray. [read the full review]

review from 9/2/2017:
It's a dark and lonely world for a corporate prostitute, Tish Ambrose, who, despite having all of her material needs met and then some, only finds true happiness in the letters of a mentally troubled war buddy, Eric Edwards, of her deceased brother. Indeed, Tish appears to have it all as the longstanding head-lady of R. Bolla's cadre of corporate cuties, who provide sexual services to both the better employees of his firm and corrupt politicians alike, yet her heart yearns to quench its emptiness. It's solely Edwards' writings that can fill this void, so it's with great happiness that she greets him when he finally gets up the courage to surprise her with a visit. Of course, this doesn't sit well with Bolla, her boss, whose strong-arm tactics clash with the pair's feelings for one another violently. How it will all end up--happily or in blood...or both--remains the unanswered question of the day. Such is the case in "Corporate Assets", an exceptional, 1985 release. [read the full review]

This release from Asterix combines two of Stephen Gibson's Deep Vision 3D movies, one that originally had a hardcore version and one that was only softcore. M-3D!: The Movie is an enjoyable film even though only the soft-X cable cut is available here and The Playmates in Deep Vision 3-D wasn't as good. Asterix did a poor job with this release utilizing poor transfers that don't look very good or work well with the 3D. review from 9/1/2003:
With the rise in popularity of televisiing the great poker tournaments from around the world, be it Binion's World Series of Poker or the World Poker Tour, it's no surprise that a televised poker tournemnt has become the backdrop for an adult movie, and who better than Jim Holliday to direct it? Well, probably plenty of others since Holliday had little interest in the poker itself. In fact, the poker scenes in Aces in the Holes are so unprofessional that your local home game is probably more well done than what Holliday put together. He wasn't interested in poker and doesn't have a lot of respect for Texas Hold'Em, the elite game of the poker world. What Holliday was interested in was the sex, and that was well done, and for this review, I'll stick to that. In fact, I found the plot so pathetic that I enjoyed the movie a lot more listening to the DVDs second track, which is Holliday's commentary, along with one of the movie's co-stars Selena Steele. review from 7/29/2004:
If you are contemplating whether to buy the limited edition Lion's Gate release of Wonderland for Wadd or the VCA release of Wadd, despite the fact that the VCA version was apparently changed without the director's permission, this is the superior edition. The movie itself is very close to the version that still bears Cass Paley's name, the extras are excellent and this is the best disc from VCA that I have ever seen. If you are looking for masturbation material, this film isn't a great choice. But if you are looking for a film about one of the most legendary adult stars of all time, John C. Holmes that doesn't hold back this is definitely worth picking up. [read the full review]

Flash's
review from 7/21/2014:
While the concept of the film is ripe for a good adult version and writer Arthur King has proven in the past that he can write some incredibly good adult films, Maxine is a relatively standard 80s shot on video presentation never rising to where it could. That combined with Excalibur Films' poor distribution of the movie makes it an easy one to pass on. [read the full review]

When his stunning, blonde wife, Seka, leaves him for the big city, a desperately lonely rancher from New Mexico, Kevin James, heads into town to find her. Of course, what he discovers that she's been up to there (porn) might just end up being a bit more than he can handle. Such is the case in "Sweet Alice", a very good, 1983 release from VCX and director Adele Robbins. [read the full review]

Flesh Gordon (Hen's Tooth Video) review summaries:
Flash's
review from 10/19/2015:
Flesh Gordon is a softcore parody of Flash Gordon, which combines the right level of camp, cheesy special effects, and ambition behind it to be a fun film, even though the originally conceived hardcore version was never to be. Fans of hardcore films from the 70s should find a lot of fun here, while also trying to find the blue screen actors and actresses from the era in the film hiding in the remaining close to hardcore footage. The DVD release from Hen's Tooth Video is better than previous home video releases but falls short of being a definitive release of the film. [read the full review]
