The Movie |
For those who think hardcore films, that are actually films, are dead, think again. Portraits of Andrea Palmer, co-written and co-directed by C. Huston and Joe Rubin (co-founder of Vinegar Syndrome), is an excellent dark and gritty drama that is first and foremost a film. While Portraits of Andrea Palmer uses hardcore sex as part of the storytelling techniques, it shouldn't be considered “porn.”
Portraits of Andrea Palmer tells the story of Andi Palmer, through segments — or portraits — of her later life. Andi (Katrina Zova) is a cam girl, who hates her life, and wants more. One of her viewers makes her a job offer of $2K if she comes out to Los Angeles. There she finds out that the offer was a scam and Andi gets dragged down into the seedy side of the porn industry and into prostitution to survive.
Portraits of Andrea Palmer is not your typical adult fare. In fact, Portraits of Andrea Palmer is a throwback to the adult films of the 1970s where directors were creating real films. Portraits of Andrea Palmer is a film that uses hardcore sex as part of the story, not as masturbation fodder. The hardcore sex scenes are short and are all part of the story, so the viewer is never pulled out of the film while they are occurring.
Portraits of Andrea Palmer is a brutal and visceral film that features excellent performances from the cast. Since Portraits of Andrea Palmer is a character-driven dramatic thriller so the performances in the film are extremely important to the film's success. Sadly, Portraits of Andrea Palmer marks the final on-screen performance for the late adult film industry legend William Margold. However, at least his final performance is in an excellent film worthy of his talents.
Portraits of Andrea Palmer is presented in black and white and color, which ultimately works very well. The film is eerie and chilling, thanks to an excellent haunting musical score by Michael Parsons. Portraits of Andrea Palmer is beautifully shot taking full advantage of the look of film over the look of digital that is mostly used these days to craft a first-rate and unique looking film.
Portraits of Andrea Palmer is an adult hardcore dramatic thriller where every portion works beautifully with each other. The story is compelling, the acting is excellent, and the film is nicely shot. For viewers who are looking for a film with hardcore elements, this reviewer can't recommend Portraits of Andrea Palmer highly enough. Films like Portraits of Andrea Palmer don't come around that often and this is a must-see film.

Final Thoughts |
Portraits of Andrea Palmer is an extremely rewarding adult dramatic thriller for viewers that actually enjoy films with hardcore elements. Viewers who are just looking for masturbatory material will be very disappointed with the film. The film is dark and moody and features an excellent cast and a good story. Films like this are rare and Portraits of Andrea Palmer is a must-see for adult feature lovers.
