Review:
It's all about the T & A in old-time Tinseltown as "Pink Champagne", an overall-good, 1979 release from Cal Vista Classics, traces the lascivious adventures of a rich and pervy duo--the fire-crotched actress, Lisa DeLeeuw, and her casting agent husband, Jon Steele--as they make their raunchy rounds around town, tapping as much ass as possible along the way. Of course, this all includes plenty of the fucky-fucky with (and between) just about everyone, including sex with the chauffeur, the hired help, aspiring talent, and so on. While there's plenty of action going on both at their Los Angeles mansion and at the studio itself, a good portion of the film captures the horny happenings at a high-end, Hollywood-themed bordello and, later, at a pink champagne party (hence, the title) that the couple throws. All of this ultimately leads to a tremendous number of pairings and pokings, most of which are fairly short by today's standards and a catalogue of which can be found over at iafd.com. In terms of the sex, DeLeeuw is in top form, looking stunning throughout...no criticism there. Generally, though, things do get a bit tepid and repetitive as one sequence leads to the next at the brothel, with Steele peeping in upon one room after the other to watch the goings-on, and it does, at times, seem that the movie could have focused more on a handful of good, solidly developed sex scenes rather than well over a dozen short ones. That said, the plot and acting are strong enough, and it's clear that a good deal of time went into choosing the sets and even choreographing a bit of a girly, pink-themed dance number at the end. So, while this one isn't perfect, it's still likely that fans of Golden Age fare will enjoy it and want to take a look. This is particularly true for those interested in features and higher-end productions with that old-school flavor.
