The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are quite good for the age of the movie. The audio is clear and well balanced, with the voiceovers being nicely balanced with the rest of the audio. The video has a bit of grain, which should be expected with the age of the movie, but it isn’t so bad as to interfere with the movie. It’s also nicely lit and doesn’t have any movement to interfere with the movie.

Music: The music rests nicely in the background and has a very soft feel. It fits the movie nicely.

Menus: The main menu has a simple look with some animation that helps it give a nice first impression. The chapter menu is very basic, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature

Kay Parker starts things out talking a little about some Hindu thought and Yoga. She discusses some of the origins and the basic goals before moving through a few exercises. She starts things out with several breathing exercises, and makes sure to talk about the aim of each exercise as well as sometimes discussing how it relates to lovemaking. It moves on to demonstrate four different positions after starting with a quick lecture about the position and sometimes some of its variations.

Scene 1 - Deidre Holland and Jon Dough

After a talk on the importance of foreplay and kissing, Jon gives Deidre a quick kiss and then fucks her as she lies on her back with her feet on his shoulders. They take their time fucking, and finish things up with Jon popping on Deidre’s stomach and then shares a series of passionate kisses with her.

This scene struck me as both good and laughable. On the good side of things, Deidre puts a strong emphasis on her breathing, strong enough that I noticed it. On the bad side of things, I couldn’t help but laugh at the scene all but ignoring foreplay after the importance of foreplay was discussed right before the scene began. The scene also seemed to go on forever with it being limited to one position with much of it not having any instructional voiceover to draw the viewer’s attention to specific scenes. It didn’t even point out Deidre’s breathing, which would seem to me to be an important thing to draw the viewer’s attention to. Although it might have a good element or two to it, this scene didn’t impress me at all.

Scene 2 - Ariel Daye and Steve Drake

Redheaded Ariel and Steve start things out lying on their sides facing each other. They kiss while she strokes his cock before he slides it inside her. They kiss as they fuck, and finish things without any visible pop.

This is another very forgettable scene. It starts decently showing the position, but then seems like it would rather go to close-ups of the face and genitals rather than anything. I was bored once again with this scene.

Scene 3 - Sharon Kane and Jonathan Morgan

Sharon and Jonathan demonstrate a sitting position, as they fuck sitting and facing each other. They start out with the penetration right away rather than working in any foreplay, and kiss while they fuck. Sharon turns around to ride Jonathan reverse cowgirl style, and hops off at the end to stroke him over her hand.

This is another lackluster scene. Sharon looks fantastic, and they put out some nice energy. Unfortunately, the camera work seemed like it was trying to soften things up and took the soul out of the scene. It also took out almost all instructional feeling. This is yet another dud of a scene.

Scene 4 - Laurie Cameron and Mike Horner

Mike and Laurie get it on standing up for their scene. Mike stands up and hoists cute short haired brunette Laurie up and down on his cock by her thighs and back as she wraps her arms around his neck. Next, Laurie has Mike lie back and impales herself on his cock while leaning forward to kiss him. Finally, Mike pulls out and pops on Laurie’s ass.

This is another below average scene. It quickly becomes trivial as it’s supposed to be demonstrating standing positions and moves past one standing position into cowgirl. It’s easily the best of the four scenes in the movie, but that isn’t saying too much.

The Tantric Guide to Sexual Potency and Extended Orgasm is pretty much a waste of an hour and a half. The only subject that’s covered in much detail is breathing exercises, and even those lack for narrative instruction. The sex scenes are downright boring, and don’t really add anything to the movie. The enjoyment of the performers in the scenes seems hit or miss, and the positions are dragged out for an unreasonable amount of time without adding a single thing to the movie. Finally, there’s nothing in the movie that really deals with the extended orgasm, at least, not enough to have something about it in the title. The Tantric Guide to Sexual Potency and Extended Orgasm is probably the worst educational style DVD I’ve seen so far, and I don’t think I got anything beneficial out of it at all.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, this DVD can be found online for between about $15 and $20, with stores offering it everywhere in between. I don’t think I’d suggest anybody even waste their time renting this one. It doesn’t really work for being either informative or sexy. The technical aspects aren’t bad for the age, but are still fairly dated, and there’s virtually no effort put into the extras. This is a boring DVD.

Note to Video Team: It’s good to see you wanting to bring out some of your older releases, as well as educational releases. I hope you have stuff that’s better than this to bring out!
