Taboo 3 (Standard Digital) Review

Kay Parker had a couple of special things going for her during her career (besides the obvious). One was that she had that unique look that made her instantly recognizable and broke her apart from the clutter: she was in her mid-30s when most of porn stars were in their early 20s, and she had big, natural boobs when most were either small and natural. The other was that her first movie turned out to be a porn classic, Taboo.

The original Taboo certainly benefitted from Kay, who fit the role perfectly: she was the original MILF. Young enough to still be hot, but old enough to look like she could be the mother of a young-adult son. She also had some acting talent and it gave her scenes some credibility that's normally lacking in porn.

The original story was about a repressed woman who loses her husband, is awash in sexuality around her, and one night when her hormones and her pent-up lust finally overcomes her, she sates her desires with her (very willing) son, Paul.

There's anguish, guilt, and mixed emotions, particularly on her own part. But at the end of the movie she's got a new guy, her sex-life is on a more even keel, and Paul has no trouble tagging all the younger girls anyway so he'll be okay.

Didn't see Taboo II, but Taboo III came my way and I jumped at it. For the most part I wasn't disapponted: Taboo III suffers from the same problems that all sequels do: it's essentially a remake of the original with just a couple of twists. In this case, Paul has left, and Barbara appears to have fallen back into her sexually repressed shell. Best-friend Juliette Anderson has been replaced with Honey Wilder, a woman who screws her own son. And instead of Paul, suddenly it seems Babs has another son, Jimmy (Jerry Butler), and Jimmy is no slouch with the girls, either. You don't have to be Columbo to figure what happens.

Kay looks good in this one, though now she's pushing 40. As a huge Kay Parker fan, I'm disappointed that it mostly comes down to three scenes with her: two doubles with Honey Wilder and a guy, and the finale with Jerry Butler (which is a recreation of the original Taboo seduction scene of Mike Ranger). A couple of sorely missed opportunities for a little sappho love between her and Honey Wilder, or some masturbation during her fantasies. Oh well.

Most of the rest of the film will feel familiar if you're an original Taboo fan. Jerry Butler tags a variety of hotties closer to his age, and there's another orgy scene in the middle of the movie, which includes a young Ron Jeremy.

What makes the movie stand out it is that's quality. The photography is beautiful. The colors are rich, the lighting dramatic, the sets and the scenes rich and interesting. The sex isn't quite as explicit, but it's still XXX, but the scenes look a little more realistic.

There's also a nice mixture of people. Kay and Honey are the older, fuller-figured girls. There are plenty of younger ones, some cuties, some less cute, some busty, some smaller and firmer. No anal sex, but lots of vaginal and oral, some 69, and a little bit of lesbo action for kink. I even saw a nipple get sucked here and there.

Extras include the obligatory photo gallery, trailers for other Taboo movies, and what turned out to be a very interesting little interview where Kay Parker talked about how she got into Taboo to start with. Not just her talking head: they did a good job of cutting it with scenes from the original movie. Fun stuff, and nice to see a more recent Kay, who still looks fuckable.

If you like classic porn, even if it's not a classic in its own right, this a keeper.
