review from 2/7/2017:
The fourth entry into the popular TABOO series, TABOO IV: THE YOUNGER GENERATION is a 1985 film, centering around Dr. Jeremy Lodge(Jamie Gillis), a Psychologist specializing in incest. The Author of a book, titled, Incest: The Family Taboo , Lodge makes the rounds educating those about incest, and what could be the cause of it. He believing that adultery to be one of the main culprits. Besides making promotional tours, and doing things such as radio shows, the topic of incestuous relations is also the subject of weekly meetings between he and his patients(Among them, Barbra Scott and Joyce McBride from the saga's previous entries). But, no matter how morally correct Jeremy's life appears, it is just a thin veil for the inner turmoil within his own family. [read the full review]

review from 12/20/2016:
Taboo 2, while not as good as Kirdy Stevens' original Taboo, is an enjoyable feature adult film. The cast does an amazing job with their sex scenes and do a great job with the non-sexual scenes. Taboo 3, on the other hand, is a massive let down with a poor story that does little to connect with the first two films and seems like just an attempt to cash in on the Taboo name. Most viewers likely won't have any interest seeing the film more than once. Taboo 2 makes this release worth picking up. Vinegar Syndrome has done a great job with this release. Taboo 2 has some issues with the video and audio but is still the best release of Taboo 2 on the market and Taboo 3 looks absolutely stunning. [read the full review]

Taboo is one of the true adult classics from the golden age of adult films. Taboo combines a tawdry tale of family love with a great cast, good story, and an overall nice looking production to create a film that has stood the test of time in the annals of adult films. If you haven't seen it, Taboo is a must see and if you already own one of the previous releases that have come out, this release is an easy upgrade. Vinegar Syndrome has done a great job with their release with a wealth of extras and beautiful image and audio quality. [read the full review]

review from 2/11/2017:
When a hot-to-trot, divorced romance writer (Colleen Brennan) goes on a sexual tear sating one carnal desire after another, she ends up bedding not only her rough-around-the-edges boyfriend (constantly) but also both her secretary (Heather Wayne) and, ultimately, her daughter's (Karen Summer's) long-sought love interest. Of course, this all doesn't play well for her daughter, and just how things will work out for the lot of them remains the burning question of the day. Such is the case in "The Animal in Me", a very good, 1985 release from Standard Digital and director Kirdy Stevens. [read the full review]

Taboo 2: The Story Continues!!, despite some problems with the script, is still a solid golden age classic feature film. The film deals with the themes of incest and features a great cast that sizzles in their sexual performances and do a great job with their nonsexual portions. Taboo 2: The Story Continues!! is an enjoyable adult film that is worth watching. The Standard Digital Signature series is a good release. There are some issues with the video, however, the film looks good. If you already have the Standard Digital Special Collector's Edition, this version isn't worth upgrading to since the only difference is more special features. [read the full review]

All holy, sexual hell breaks loose when a standoffish, single, working mother and secretary (Candy Cummings) marries the big-pimpin' ladies' man of the office (Randy West) who has been pursuing her, only to have it ultimately come to light that he previously fucked one of her daughters (Brooke West). Of course, awkward doesn't nearly describe the familial interactions that ensue as Brooke's and Randy's attempts at keeping their prior encounter a secret unravel...nor does it adequately describe the chicanery, deception, infidelity, and quasi-incest that follow. Such is the case in "Playing with Fire", an exceptional, 1983 release from Standard Video and famed director Kirdy Stevens. [read the full review]

review from 6/3/2017:
Playing With Fire has never been as well known as some of Kirdy Stevens' other adult films, however, it deserves to be. Playing With Fire, like many of Stevens' film, plays with the taboo theme of family relationships and sexual attraction. The story in Playing With Fire is excellent and the cast does a great job with their roles. Playing With Fire is well worth watching. Standard Digital has done a decent job with their DVD release with decent video quality and a good audio presentation. [read the full review]

Everyone's in for a swinging good time when the hot-to-trot Serena and her hubby, Mike Ranger, throw a Spanish-fly-infused wedding party for the newly-minted couple, Ray and Eileen Wells, in "A Taste of Sugar". An overall-good, 1978 release from director Kirdy Stevens and VCX, this fine, Golden Age film effectively offers up two massive orgies that, together, span the vast majority of the film's ~80 minutes and feature not only a plethora of steamy moments but, as an interesting rarity, a number of post-cum reinsertions, as well. Taboo 7, which is really 1980's A Woman's Dream by Peter Perry, Jr., redecorated with a new title and new cheaply made computer generated beginning and end credits with a brief new opening narration with Randy West by Richard Mailer. A Woman's Dream isn't a bad film with a developed plot, great locations, some good acting, and nice sex scenes. Starring: Amber Lynn, Colleen Brennan, Porsche Lynn, Karen Summer, Lorrie Lovett, Shone Taylor, Jamie Gillis, Joey Silvera, Kevin James Johnathan Younger, Billy Dee. Directed By: Kirdy Stevens There are only a handful of adult films which can easily be called classics. Among them is Kirdy Stevens' Taboo. Despite the modern day Max Hardcores, Rob Blacks, and the other multitudes of directors who dispatch "extreme hardcore" to your local smut shop, Stevens' tales of consentual incest are as controversial now as the day he shot them. In fact, the Taboo series continues on, though it has left its incestuous subject matter far behind. Once though, incest porn was a strange little niche market and it wasn't uncommon to find stories of fathers getting it on with their teenage daughters, teenage sons seducing their mothers, or siblings exploring sexuality together. Does this make you uneasy? Queasy even? Well, I think it's supposed to...a little. Sometime after Taboo 5 this series eliminated the incest angle. [read the full review]

Taboo 3 marks a sharp and massive decline in Kirdy Stevens' Taboo series. Unlike its predecessors, Taboo 3 doesn't have great character development but does sport a clichéd story, and no continuity with the previous entries. Fans of the Taboo series will likely be very disappointed with Taboo 3, even if fans of the cast. Starring: Kay Parker, Dorothy LeMay, Juliet Anderson, Tawny Pearl, Lynn Shannon, Mike Ranger Directed By: Kirdy Stevens In my old college lit classes Oedipus Rex was my "go to" play. If we were called upon to write essays on irony, tragedy, flawed characters, or any of the other big dramatic topics for discussion, I always turned to that father killing, eye poking, incestuous king for source material. Of course, I didn't know shit about Medea or Troilus and Cressida, but I didn't have to; I had my regal Greek motherfuckers down. Kirdy Stevens' Taboo barely resembles the themes of Oedipus Rex, and we all agree that it's unfair to hold any pornographic work to the same standard of Sophocles' greatest play, and yet I'm gonna do it anyway. Taboo is the story of a boy and his mother. [read the full review]
