X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time Review

Review:
"X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of all Time" is a good, albeit fluffy, documentary hosted by Chanel Preston that offers up about an hour-and-a-half's worth of material that puts forth its creators' views of the best that the adult genre has to offer. Documenting films both past and present, the selections start with the "Deep Throat" era and go up essentially through the modern day (...to, say, about five years ago). Clearly, a list like this is going to be subjective by definition, and there's going to be plenty of people who wonder why certain titles have been omitted and others have been included. Indeed, there are some fairly painful exclusions here, and, likewise, there are some flicks present that might not deserve to be, at least based upon this reviewer's personal opinion. There also appears to be a heavy emphasis on films of the distant past (not surprising) and, perhaps, an overemphasis on more recent films, as well, with the "middle" of the genre getting somewhat shortchanged. This is a fairly common occurrence for this type of listing, be it of adult fare or anything else. The older, recognizable films that are regarded as "classics" and that have withstood the test of time are always represented, while newer films that are "fresher" in peoples' minds get more credit than they likely deserve. Many of the flicks in between end up simply brushed over and ignored. Similarly, this list largely plays it safe, in that it doesn't often deviate from the most obvious path, nor does it delve too deeply into the films that it covers. Of course, that's not to say that it's "bad" at all. It's actually quite the fun watch...for what it is.

For her part, Chanel Preston handles the hosting duties admirably. She's as multi-talented as she is beautiful, and she never fails to impress, be it in something like this or whilst pounding someone out on film with a strap-on. Included along the way are interviews with current stars (typically about their impressions of the older films), former stars (about the actual films themselves), and other relevant individuals. Again, while light on content and depth, a nice breadth of opinion is presented, and the program runs smoothly along...all in all making for a pleasant watch.
