Review:
A disinterested, sports-obsessed, young woman (Melanie Scott) finds herself entangled in a web of lies and deceit when she tells her horny neighbor (Tom Byron) that she's been sleeping with the local stud (Steve Douglas) in response to him taunting her. Of course, initially, she tries to get Douglas to go along with the whole thing--which he does--all while keeping things platonic. Unfortunately (....or, perhaps, fortunately...) for her, her budding libido and awakening sexuality have their own say in the matter. Such is the case in "Tomboy", a mediocre, 1983 release from VCX and director Howard Christian. While the premise of this film--a coming of age story rife with youthful deception and indiscretion--holds a lot of promise, its follow-through here doesn't quite hit the mark, leaving the whole production just a bit short of its intended finish line...which is a shame. Perhaps the biggest contributor to this flick's shortcomings comes in the form of its lead role. Melanie's character is lopsidedly written to the point of being one-dimensional, and it's over-acted so much so that she simply comes off as a bitchy, certifiable weirdo instead of the sympathetic character that was either intended, or that should have been intended. Indeed, as a result, the entire endeavor seems contrived, and in places where it could benefit from clever moments and plot twists, it largely fails at them...or to even include them. In a word, it is boring. Now, that's not to say that it isn't without its sexy moments, particularly if only the raw mechanics of the fucking are considered. For instance, Laurien Wilde is a firecracker in both of her scenes (...she could have been a huge star...), and Scott takes a decent dicking at the end, as well. There's just not enough that's good here for a full, or partial, recommendation...even for a rental. Very disappointing.
In terms of the sex, Scene One finds the slutty, long-haired brunette beauty, Laurien Wilde (RIP), riding her super-jock cousin, Tom Byron, on his bed, as the two liken their shared erotic experience to sports (oral, vaginal ; spurting pop on her chest and tummy). In Scene Two, Laurien gets frisky with an opposing player, Klaus Multia, after using her "charms" to win a neighborhood football game. This one takes place in the back of Klaus' cargo van (oral, vaginal ; cum-shot on her bush and tummy). Scene Three has one of Melanie's mother's friends, the amply-endowed Kay Parker, walking in on her studious brother, Marc Wallice, whilst he's in the bathroom, post-shower. Parker's unsettled by what she sees...in a stimulated way...and it only takes a drink or two for her to race into his room and throw herself at the unsuspecting 18 year old. After some emotional banter, Kay turns the young lad out, teaching him the ways of the woman (oral, vaginal). In Scene Four, Tom Byron chances by Melanie Scott's window as she's regarding her athletic physique in the mirror and then diddling herself upon the bed. Of course, Tom whips it out and beats off, dropping his own special seed on her garden. Scene Five is a dream sequence in which Melanie, who's beginning to come to grips with her sexuality, finds herself desperately searching for her virginity with two ghostly, red-clad figures, Karen Summer and Rosemarie, in a tropical-themed setting. Karen and Rosemarie eat her out a bit, with the former fingering her, as well, before Melanie sends them both away. In Scene Six, Melanie gets her man, Steve Douglas, nominally as part of a ploy to trick her annoying neighbor, Tom Byron. Little does Douglas know, he's getting the full deal that night...all as Byron snoops outside (oral by him, vaginal ; load on her tummy).
