The Review

Synopsis:
Sex World is a resort where the sexually inhibited can go and live out their innermost private sexual fantasies for three days. Through this film we get to follow the sexual exploits of one of these groups of the sexually inhibited.

Video/Audio:
Sex World is presented in the full screen aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which is not the original aspect ratio for the film. Sex World was originally presented in a widescreen aspect of probably 1.66:1 or 1.77:1 and has been cropped for this presentation. The only place in the film that this is obvious is during the beginning credits. The picture quality for this presentation is not bad for the film's age. There are artifacts throughout the film, worse in some scenes than others. In a couple places the picture gets jumpy. The color levels are good.

The available audio track for the film is a 2.0 English mono track, which although dated and flat, works well for the film. The viewer can always hear the dialog over the music. One major problem with the audio track is during one scene, the audio cuts out completely for a few seconds while people are talking then cuts back in. Other than this one issue the audio track works well. No other language tracks and no subtitle options are available.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are nine chapters available from the main menu for Sex World. The chapter menu contains a still picture for each chapter, despite the fact the box states animated jump to scene. If you have viewed the film, the pictures can be used to find the closest proximity to the spot you are looking for. Using the chapters, navigation through the disc is decent, I would have liked to have seen more chapter stops, but the nine are definitely adequate. There is a time code for this feature, so time searching is available.

Special Features:
And who likes extras to go along with their classic porn? Apparently VCX thinks no one since there is not an extra to be seen on the disc. Even the Photo Shots promised on the box are absent from here.

Review:
Sex World is another classic adult film from the golden age of porn. The film contains a thin plot to connect the scenes together that ends up being too slow in too many parts, therefore, bringing down the pace of the film. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against a plot-based adult film, as long as the plot works favorably for the film. When the plot becomes boring and slow, detracting from the film, is when I have a problem with it.

The locations and sets used in the film are good. As this is a film from the seventies, the style of the film is more mainstream than the adult films of today. More attention was paid to detail, making a more believable film. The cast is rather average looking with some looking great and others, not so great. The cast does a decent job acting, especially for an adult film. In some scenes the cast seems to be having fun with each other. In other scenes, however, the cast just seems to be going through the actions, which brings down the film.

The sex scenes have many problems with them. First off, some of the sex scenes are intercut with others. I personally don't have a problem with this but some viewers may find it bothersome. The sex scenes, like those in most of the classics, are rather short but in this film some are so short that they aren't even arousing. By the time you get into the scene it's already over. The most problematic sex scene is one where they tried to by arty and impose images on top of each other. It doesn't work and ends up being bothersome and completely ruining the scene. The sexual themes in the film are: vaginal and oral sex with male masturbation, phone sex and lesbian scenes, many lesbian scenes.

The Money Shot:
Although this print of the film is in decent condition, especially for its age, the movie itself is not one of the best to come from the golden age of adult entertainment. As a result I recommend that only fans of the film purchase this disc. For anyone else interested in the film I recommend renting it first. Those who require nasty sex and long sex scenes will definitely not enjoy this film.
