Initial Expectations: I’ve had very mixed results from NuTech’s anime DVDs. For some reason I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the better ones.

Initial Reaction: The subject isn’t the best, but the feature has a fun spirit.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a fun and light adult cartoon

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants cartoons held to the same limitations as regular porn

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video both appear very good for what the source is like. The animation isn’t that developed, think Pokemon, but there isn’t any noticeable pixelation or remnants to hold it back further.

Music: There’s a little Japanese style music in the background, and it fits cartoons more than it fits porn.

Menus: The main menu is extremely long, but not bad. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for the scene.

The Feature: Akira Motoura used to be one of the top volleyball players in Japan. Now he coaches the AOTA Academy girl’s team, and appears to be into it as much for watching the girls as he is for the game instead. He has frequent fantasies about the girls while they’re on the court, and even beds them at night. Things get kicked up a notch after foreign exchange student Nanase joins the team, who needs just a little of attention he’s willing to give at every game and practice.

Coach Motoura starts things out with a purple haired girl before taking on Nanase Morimura during a practice. He takes on one of the older girls, gets teased by Nanase Morimura, and finally takes on a pair of his students after being caught with one of them in a karaoke bar. The three of them take care of each other, and one of them even gets fucked with a microphone. After fantasizing about another member, Coach Motoura gets some head from another member of the team in a park.

Although all the sex in the feature appears to be pedophilia, it’s handled nicely. There’s often humor added to it, and the Coach is never treated like any kind of hero about it. Instead he’s a comic lead, and the girls all know it. I’m sure the sex will still turn off many people, but it’s handled very well here.

Although the general subject in Angels in the Court appears to be pedophilia, I really can’t complain about it too much. The girls all appear to be high school age, and the subject is often treated with plenty of humor. I found myself laughing several times, and it’s clear that the makers of the feature wanted it to be light, fun, and enjoyable. I think they succeeded quite well here, and if NuTech would put a little care into their products this would be a sure DVD to buy rather than renting or waiting to find in the bargain bin.

Extras: A photo gallery is included for Shayla, Haven, and the feature itself. Each gallery for the girls lasts about two minutes and a quarter with six seconds per nice looking full screen photo, while the feature gallery lasts about a minute and a half. There’s also weblinks and trailers for most of NuTech’s animated releases.

Overall: Currently, the Angels in the Court DVDs can be found online for between $11 and $22 with most stores offering them for around $15. Although I liked this movie and it has a nice transfer, I’d strongly suggest renting it rather than buying it. At under a half hour, I just can’t justify the cost for what you get here, especially since there aren’t any extras worth mentioning.

Note to NuTech: There’s no reason why both episodes of Angels in the Court shouldn’t be included on one DVD! Even combined they don’t last a full hour! Releasing them like this only makes you seem like a bunch of moneygrubbers who don’t care what your customers think as long as they pay you.
