The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I’ve really kind of liked this series, and I’m looking to see how it finished up.

Initial Reaction: It’s not a great ending, but it is pretty good.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants a story with a little sex fitting into it

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants a lot of animated sex or darker sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The audio and video both appear very good for what the source is like. The animation isn’t that developed, think Pokemon, but there isn’t any noticeable pixelation or remnants to hold it back further.

Music: None

Menus: The main menu is nicely animated, and gives a very good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for that scene.

The Feature

After Mai (voiced by Kylie Ireland) loses her fiancé Youji in a mountain climbing accident, she decides she still wants to have his baby. He was working on a way to create babies from the DNA like you’d find in a hair or fleck of skin, but the process is still experimental and extremely expensive. To make her dream a reality, she becomes a DNA Hunter, collecting men’s ejaculate for rich women clients who want to have a specific man’s baby without his knowledge. When a rival organization comes after the DNA Hunters, things get very confusing for Mai.

Mai starts this episode out taking on target Kunio Sasaki in the shower. He plays with her a bit before she sucks his cock, and then fucks her in a couple positions. Finally, Mai has Kunio pop in her pussy so she can complete her mission. It’s another nice scene that actually has some decent chemistry to it. At least, it has as much chemistry to it as an animated scene can have. It isn’t a long scene, but progresses nicely, and doesn’t have the dark feel that many anime scenes do.

Masumi gets grouped up on in the second scene, while Shiori experiences some hot wax. Both girls are restrained and drugged, with Masumi taking a cock in her mouth and one in her ass, while Shiori takes a giant cock and an internal pop. It’s a short scene, which isn’t a bad thing here. It’s a very dark scene, like most of what I’ve experienced from anime.

Mai gets gangbanged after she’s captured again in the penultimate scene. She’s tied to the bed and her panties cut off with a knife and finger her until she squirts. The guys DP her as well as sticking a cock in her mouth, and finally come both inside her and on her face. It’s another uncomfortable scene that seems very typical for what I’ve normally seen from anime. Unlike what you’d see in many western pornos, you never really see the DP here. You see a couple short views of the penetration only, but you never see both Mai and the two guys.

Finally, Kathleen and the boss get it on. They exchange oral favors before Kathleen rides him cowgirl style before taking his joy juice inside her. Thankfully, it’s another consensual scene that’s nicely done. It’s a very short scene, but does do a nice job of finishing things on a high note.

DNA Hunter 3 finishes things up pretty well. The plot does a very nice job of bringing out some of the mysteries of the company, but at the same time it feels a little rushed. I think a fourth episode and spreading things out a little would have worked much better for this. Once again, the sex feels a little different here than in the other scenes, but it also works very good for the story. Even the non-consensual sex works into the plot here, and I have to admit that it just wouldn’t have been the same with consensual sex. DNA Hunter 3 isn’t a great finish to the series, but it is pretty good.

The Extra Stuff

The A-side of the DVD contains a few photo galleries and website information. The feature gallery lasts nearly four minutes with about six seconds per full screen photo. Kylie Ireland and Misty Rain each get their own photo galleries also, with each of them running about two and a quarter minutes with six seconds per nice looking full screen photo. There’s The B-side of the DVD contains trailers for most of NuTech’s animated releases. Sadly, these are the same extras on every DVD in this series.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, the DNA Hunter episodes can be found online for between $11 and $22 with most stores offering them for around $15. As usual, I can’t recommend spending this much on a DVD that doesn’t even last a half hour or any extras worth mentioning. It is pretty well done and has a nice transfer, so if you’re interested I’d definitely suggest renting it.

Note to NuTech: I really wish you’d pay a little attention to how badly your competition, such as Central Park and Kitty, are making your DVDs look and try to improve them. They would have released this entire series on one DVD at roughly half the cost you charge. This makes for much happier customers who seek out your product much better.
