The First Word: If you've heard of this title before, it's probably because it's one of the first DTS (Digital Theater Systems) audio encoded adult DVDs. That distinction aside, it features the lovely Nikita and Vicca, who definitely are worth more fuss than the DTS track. What's It About?: Katherine (Nikita) is a young Russian woman who is sent to Beverly Hills to learn the culture of the rich and famous. She arrives at the house of her father's friend, and is shown into the house by the maid (Dee). The maid goes out to the pool to fetch the mistress of the house, Selma (Christina St. James), who manages only a quick suck of the gardener (Michael J. Cox) before she is fetched to meet Katherine. Selma shows Katherine to her room and then leaves her alone to shower. After the gratuitous (if there is such such a thing in porn) shots of Katherine showering, she is drying off in her bedroom and overhears a couple making love in the next room. It turns out that Lisa (Russian sidekick Vicca) is screwing Alex Sanders, and the sounds excite Katherine so much that she begins to play with herself. While the scene starts slow and Alex is not hard to begin with, a very nice blowjob (including the application of a condom orally) and a fun-looking scissors-position screw is the first hot point in the movie. Later, out by the pool, Katherine is sunbathing topless, when her father's friend (played by Vince Voyuer) arrives home and meets her. Of course, we know that it's inevitable that the two end up fucking at some point in the movie, but not now. Instead, the story cuts to late that night, when Katherine goes downstairs to get something in the kitchen. She finds the maid in a threesome with the gardener and the chauffeur (Rob). While I don't think I've seen Dee look as unexciting as she does in this scene, the so-so encounter is saved by a nice anal penetration shot and the double oral cumshot that Dee takes in the end. After witnessing the hired help's escapades, Katherine goes back upstairs, and spies on Selma and her husband in their bedroom. A standard oral plus three position sex scene ensues, and is pretty forgettable. In this scene Christina St. James shows her age, especially with her shaved pussy that just looks odd with her 30+ years. The story focuses on the youngsters, with Lisa and Katherine (Vicca and Nikita) playing in the pool, running naked through the house, shopping, and later cruising down Rodeo Drive. That night, the folks aren't home, so they bring over some school friends (that's how they are described), Earl Slate and Frank Towers. This is probably the most fun sex scene of the movie, but it's edited on the short side, with the action changing rapidly. It's a pity, because the blowjobs and fucking are nice and the four performers have nice bodies. If any scene called for extended footage or lingering camera angles, it would be this one. The next morning, the token lesbian scene takes place, with Katherine seeing the neighbors (Jennifer Worthington and Jenny) through the window. There's some half-hearted licking and 69, but it's complete fast-forward material. The last scene, of course, is the encounter between Nikita and Vince. It happens at night when she's getting something to drink from the fridge, stark naked, naturally. Vince comes down to the kitchen, and the two fuck on the counter. It's a decent scene with some well-photographed penetration shots, though not a blockbuster ending to the movie. The razor thin story ends rather lamely with the standard closing line, "But that's another story..." After then movie ends, there are four minutes of bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage, as Francois Clousot likes to include. What I liked: Nikita and Vicca: The two first ladies of Russia are always fun to watch. They might not make good actresses because of their heavy accents, but they have great bodies and a wonderfully playful screen presence. Nikita's perfectly formed tits are, well, perfectly formed, and I don't think there's a viewer out there that wouldn't do a double take when they make their appearance. Aside from Vicca's fake tits (scars are quite visible in this movie), she too has a killer body. They're probably the best reasons for picking up this DVD. Condoms: Well, not the rubbers themselves, but how they are always applied on camera. Nothing is more maddening than the magically appearing condom, especially when the sex is supposed to be spontaneous. In this movie, the condoms are an integral part of the sex play, applied with a smile (and with the lips in a manner that hookers are well-accustomed to). A sex-ed film couldn't have done it better (though, speaking of safe sex, it doesn't make any sense to have unprotected oral and then finish with an oral cumshot if STD protection was the real intent of using condoms in the first place). What I didn't like: Disposable plot: I guess this is technically a feature, although the story is thin and exists only to tie the sex scenes together. The acting is laughable and not even worthy of the term "acting." Still, at least the plot isn't annoyingly fake, where you're irritated that they even tried to pass the script off as dialogue. Fortunately, this movie works because you'll remember the women and the sex more than what the movie was supposed to be about. Scenes without Nikita or Vicca: Yes, the sex is hot, but only when the Russians are involved. The scenes featuring Christina St. James, Dee, and the two Jennys are pretty average (i.e. fast forward material). Since I'm a fan of Dee, having to say that is a personal disappointment, but we all have bad days. So basically, you have about half of the movie that is excellent and the other half that is so-so. The net result is a "good" rating. DVD Extras: Overall, this is a nice DVD from NuTech, and certainly hard to beat for the price. The DVD menu design is pleasing, although the animated transitions between menus are too long and get irritating when you're trying to navigate quickly. The photo gallery has a slightly different twist from the standard static shots; instead, the camera pans over a zoomed photo (just like TV shows do when they are showing a photograph). The 20-minute behind-the-scenes featurette is broken up into four sections. The first shows Vicca getting her makeup applied and hair done, followed by her pretty girl photo op. Nikita is next as she takes her pretty girls. You really get to see the behind the scenes aspect with the filming of the Nikita/Vince scene as you discover that Vince is standing on an apple box in order to reach the counter that he's fucking Nikita on! The third segment features Dee, who looks a lot hotter in the BTS than she does in the movie. There's a funny bit here, as the actors search for the tube of lube (hey, this happens all the time on porn sets!). Finally, there's the behind-the-scenes of Christina St. James' micro- blowjob scene. Unfortunately, there's a glitch at the end of the segment: the video freezes while the audio continues to play for another 15 seconds. A/V Quality: In general, I'm impressed by the crystal-clear video that modern NuTech releases are blessed with. This DVD didn't exhibit any noticeable pixelation or video noise, although it did have a frequent and distracting minor video distortion along the top 1/3 of the the screen during a couple of the scenes. This looks like an error on the original tape master, not a DVD mastering problem. The audio is pretty average, with its share of ambient (background) noise and an overall "hollow" feel to the dialogue. The inclusion of the official Dolby Digital and DTS trailers may be a nice touch and let you know that your home theater is working correctly, but it doesn't help the movie any. The feature wasn't recorded in 5.1, so presenting it in 5.1 isn't an improvement. As far as I could tell, only the musical soundtrack played in the rear channels. The Last Word: This is a nice little cheap porn flick, and one of the best of NuTech's feature DVDs. The DVD production value is solid and just feels like they put in a lot of work into it. For the most part, the sex does the trick, especially when it features Vicca and Nikita. The best part is the price: it's a heck of a value for being on sale most of the time. It didn't (and won't) win any awards, but it's an outstanding two-day wonder, and it gets my nod of approval. Just don't buy it thinking that you'll be able to impress your friends with DTS porn on your home theater system. |
