Running Time: 88 min.
Production Date: March 19 - 20, 1988
Director: Francois Clousot
Cast: Felicia, Taylor Moore, Sana Fey, Tina Tyler, LeeAnna Heart, Tye, Amber, Marc Davis, Vince Voyeur, Tom Byron, Ian Daniels, and Jonathan Morgan
Extras: Behind the Scenes (32 min.), slide show, bios, outtakes, trailers, and web access. The bios are pretty standard, but the behind the scenes are a lot of fun. There are two scenes that we get to see the inner workings of: the final scene between Jonathan, Tina, and LeeAnna and the threesome between Vince, Ian, and Taylor. The behind the scenes of Vince, Ian, and Taylor's scene didn't really add too much for me, but the Jonathan, Tina, and LeeAnna's behind the scenes was great. It does a great job of showing the cast as real people and how much fun everybody was having on the set.
Audio Quality: Good. Most of the movie is excellent, but the scenes where the spies check in with the 'Evil One' are bad.
Video Quality: Very good.
Music: Acoustic and, dare I say, tender. The music is balanced very well through most of the movie.
Initial Expectations: 'Sex, Lies, and the President' has had some great reviews before, and NuTech has put some effort into the DVD, so I have pretty high expectations.
Initial Reaction: Very good. The movie's hilarious, and the sex is very good. NuTech did a great job on this DVD.
Review: There's a part of me that really hates watching movies like 'Sex, Lies, and the President'. I always have my expectations really high when other trusted reviewers have rated the movie very highly. Normally I find myself disappointed. Having a great actress like Tina Tyler doesn't help the matter either, as she has proven herself to be one of the most talented actresses in the adult film world. Thankfully, my expectations weren't that far off.
'Sex, Lies, and the President' revolves around President Freeman (Jonathan Morgan), the president of Silverland, who's been literally caught with his pants down. More precisely, he's been caught with his pants down and in the company of six hookers, which his nemesis, The Evil One, is taking full advantage of. President Freeman decides that his only choice is to escape from Silverland with his wife (Tina Tyler) and a few trusted advisors (Tom Byron, Marc Davis, and Ian Daniels) and hide somewhere he can figure things out. Unfortunately, he finds out that he can't do anything without interns such as Miss Gordons (Tye), Absolute (Amber), Daniels (Sana Fey), Smirnoff (Taylor Moore), Walker (LeeAnna Heart), and Pernod (Felicia). If this aren't bad enough already, Mrs. Freeman doesn't seem at all interested in him sexually any more and the interns are all spies for the Evil One.
It's really rare to watch a modern adult film where it's so obvious that everybody is having a great time. There's little hints dropped throughout the movie, such as the cigar magazine on the coffee table, that show that the fun went through the entire film. The Evil One is hilarious also. You never see his face when his spies report in. You just see him in his chair stoking his wiener (dog). I had a hard time staying in my chair when there wasn't a sex scene (and not because I had supper at Taco Bell). I was laughing my butt off throughout the movie. A lot of this was due to both Jonathan Morgan and Tina Tyler.
Jonathan Morgan does a great job playing President Freeman. Most of the time Morgan plays the President with kind of an Arkansas accent and feel to him, but when it's time for government business he can't help but be very prudent, with mannerisms to match. He has problems walking anywhere as he's also a klutz. Throughout the movie, I had a feeling that most of the stuff Morgan did playing President Freeman was made up on the spot. It was almost like watching Jim Carrey in a porno.
As always, Tina Tyler also did a wonderful job. She does a great job of playing the straight man, or woman as the case may be here, throughout the movie. I don't know how she kept a straight face through most of her scenes. All of the women in 'Sex, Lies and the President' are good looking, but none of them have the spark that's always in Tina's performance. Tina also has such a real feel to her that you can't help but like her. She was easily the most sensual woman in the movie. Her scenes are lead up to very well so that you're anticipating them throughout the movie
'Sex, Lies, and the President' has a pretty good mix of real and fake in the breast department. A few of the women, such as Tina, show exactly why natural is better. Unfortunately, LeeAnna Hart' does also. LeeAnna Hart has one of the worst boob job I've seen in a long time. I hope that she didn't get charged for it, since I think the Taco Bell dog could have done a better job. It looks like she had softballs implanted into her chest, they're so bad. I know it's often referred to as second base, but this is taking the analogy a little too far. Thankfully she didn't shave her nether regions to look like home plate.
As I said before, there's some great extras on the 'Sex, Lies, and the President' DVD. In addition to the two behind the scenes featurettes, there's also about five minutes of outtakes. If you watch the entire movie, you can skip this as all the outtakes are shown with the closing credits. Yes, NuTech managed to do something that escapes the minds of almost every other adult film company out there. They put REAL credits at the end of the movie. Every character in the movie down to the wiener dog (thankfully in a non - sex role) is listed in the closing credits. Thank you, NuTech for both having real credits and not having the wiener dog put out.
Unfortunately, 'Sex, Lies, and the President' as you've probably gathered, isn't perfect. There are some problems with the audio. Every time the spies checked in with the Evil One, I was lucky if I could understand one out of five words he said. This really got to me, as with how funny the rest of the movie was, I really felt like I was missing something. There's also a few spots where the video seems to jump when a scene was apparently spliced. The video is a minor annoyance, but the audio got really annoying.
Raincoat Factor: Medium
Overall: 'Sex, Lies, and the President' is a lot of fun. The plot has a lot of humor, and you can tell that the cast is enjoying themselves. The sex is also very good and couples friendly. The video quality is very good, but the audio suffers in a few spots. The extras are very good and fun to watch. If you're at all interested in this DVD pick it up. I doubt you'll regret doing so.
