Initial Impressions I like the idea of porn that loses the misogyny and formulaic aspects of a lot of porn, and that has more focus on the chemistry between the players. And so I always want to like Candida Royalle's movies, but they are so slow and boring that it takes major courage for me to pop one in the dvd player. I was thinking that maybe my memories of how slow these things are has become exaggerated. Or maybe she has changed lately and picked up the pace? Nope, I guess not! There are minor ongoing problems with soft focus, too much backlighting, a bit of graininess, intrusions of equipment at the edge of the screen and a couple of off-camera directions. These are issues that might be expected for a gonzo production, however, and they aren't too bothersome. The music typically has a light, easygoing island flavor that supports the scenes. When the performers are near the surf, the live sex sounds sometimes get a little lost, but I'm sure that couldn't be helped.
