"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" I had been interested in Paul Thomas's To Die For, and found it for pretty cheap at a local store, so I decided to check it out. Was it worth it? The Movie: This movie is probably one of the most unnerotic things I have ever seen. Now, let me explain why I'm saying this. The movie To Die For is very dark. The whole movie revolves around destructive relationships, cheating, and death. So, if you are setting the sex scenes in this context, they take on that dark edge. With the exception of the first scene, there is hardly any scene in this film that doesn't have some dark cloud hanging over it. This is coming from someone who loved the film Bliss, and found several of the scenes in that film very erotic. So, that explanation aside, I'm going to do a quick pro/con review of this film. Not only is the photo flattering to them, but the women are just beautiful and its so nice to have a movie that steers clear both of the silicone blonde look of all too many features and the teen look of all too many gonzos. The men are all muscular and reasonably young (its such a relief to have none of the pot-bellied, middle-aged men fucking girls young enough to be their daughters). The camera angles are often different from what you get in mainstream porn, which is something I found refreshing, and there is a lot of play with light and shadows, which adds to the eroticism in many of the scenes. He seems to get off catching the tenants cheating on their partners and leaving copies of the recordings where the non-cheating partners can find them. The plot was actually pretty good overall, but the dialogue between the individual starts was strained in places. Extras: Behind the Scenes, Interviews, Slide show, trailers Audio/Video: Above average. The video was nice and clear with good color contrast. Camera work was a little jumpy in places though. Scene 1: Cindy Crawford and Guy- Starts off with a fighting between the two. Dialog leaves something to be desired. Sounds like a couple of high school kids, all they say is fuck you back and forth. In maybe a satire/homage to the Giarusso brothers, Sunny Lane plays the innocent virgin police officer who has to go undercover and investigate Manuel Ferrara, who police suspect is helping launder money through his porn productions for his brother. Sometimes the plot moves the scenes along but in the end it leaves you unsatisfied as it leads to the inevitable conclusion that Sunny liked porn better than policework. There are some plot holes that are never addressed like what happens with her fiance? Never thought I would find myself watching clown pornand liking it. This is the first David Stanley movie for me since The Big Game a very long time ago (pretty decent movie if you can find it). Looking forward to seeing how he has matured since then. Plot: Evan Stone is a sad clown and recovering drunk who is in love with his roommate Kaylani Lei. Although he loves her, but can never find the words to express himself. After being at the death bed of his mentor clown (played by David Stanley) he resolves to tell Kaylani how he feelswhich ends up taking the rest of the movie. Overall the plot was pretty good. It was sad in places, but pretty funny without being campy. Audio/Visual: Great lighting and video quality. The music was also well put together. The mixture of circus music and mid-century lounge music fit nicely in with the plot of the movie. Veronica is a very cute girl with a great body that I love watching, but I certainly don't love watching her in HD. Quickie Review I am not going to do a scene by scene break down for this one, astroknight and MLyons both did an excellent job doing that. What I Liked This is a light hearted movie with some great sex. All the stars had good chemistry with each other, and for once the male performers looked like they really cared about what the women wanted. Felicia Fox was great as the lead actress, and you can tell she was enjoying her self during the sex and the dialoug. My two highlights were the scenes with Charmane Star with Manuel and Felicia Fox with Nicole Sheridan. Charmane Star and Manuels scene was really well done. Quickie Review I am not going to do a scene by scene break down for this one, astroknight and MLyons both did an excellent job doing that. What I Liked This is a light hearted movie with some great sex. All the stars had good chemistry with each other, and for once the male performers looked like they really cared about what the women wanted. Felicia Fox was great as the lead actress, and you can tell she was enjoying her self during the sex and the dialoug. My two highlights were the scenes with Charmane Star with Manuel and Felicia Fox with Nicole Sheridan. Charmane Star and Manuels scene was really well done. Charmane was dressed in an Asian type outfit and Manuel acted his part pretty good. Its been a while since I have been excited about an Asian star(around when Kobe Tia retired), so this scene really got me going.
