REVIEW:
I've been increasingly interested in Stormy Daniels' work as a writer / director of late. The last one I reviewed, Second Thoughts, was outstanding, and in fact I believe it to be the best Wicked Pictures release of 2005. A bold statement, I know, but Stormy's more fearless approach to sex, coupled with a great sense of humor and ability to meld it all together into some semblance of a coherent whole is what's making her head and shoulders above the rest of the Wicked director's stable right now--at least in my humble opinion. Having said all that, I hope that the trend continues with Private Eyes.

Natalie (Felicia Fox) runs a successful private investigation firm--so she says from behind her desk while Stormy Daniels brings her a cup of coffee. She assures us that it's a cushy life, but it wasn't always this way. The place used to be run by a cigar puffing, grumpy curmudgeon named Polaski (Mike Horner). Tommy Stevens (Eric Masterson) was another investigator in the office who also happened to be Polaski's nephew. Polaski was itching to retire, and Natalie wanted to make sure that when he did, he picked her over his nephew as his successor. Quoth Natalie, "It all started about six months ago..."

Scene 1 - Felicia Fox & Kris Knight

Natalie (Felicia Fox) and her hubby, Chris (Kris Knight) wake up on a Saturday, with Natalie freaking out about getting to work. He convinces her with some unfortunate acting, to stay a while and fuck 'im--which she does. Felicia looks pretty good here. She's got big, natural, beautiful breasts and a pretty nice smile, although she's still not entirely my type. That's just a matter of personal taste, but trust me, she does have a way of growing on you. Kris starts out sucking and fingering her pussy, she moves on to some cocksucking, and then they cycle through a couple standard vaginal positions (reverse cowgirl, spoon) before he cums on her somewhat bushy pussy.

Natalie heads off to work, telling us in voice-over that Chris didn't understand how important her job was to her. After being rebuffed by Natalie in an ... interesting way, he finally decides on Diamond (Trina Michaels) to take care of him. The way she's looking right now, I can't say as I blame him. He walks her back to his car and they go at it right there in front of God and everybody.

Scene 2 - Trina Michaels & Tee Reel

Trina looks great here--blonde, big (unnatural) breasts, and showing off with a pink camisole and a black mini-skirt. Yummy. Trina and Tee kiss in front of Tee's car for a bit before she sinks to her knees and gives him a sloppy, deep blowjob. When Trina stands up and bends over the car, raising her skirt for Tee's cock, Tee makes the mistake of removing his neck brace. Natalie (Felicia Fox) turns the evidence over to Polaski (Mike Horner), who is duly unimpressed. Stevens (Eric Masterson) and Natalie have a bit of a face off about how he's the boss' nephew, but he contends that he's just the better detective--which is why he's getting assigned the good cases. Apparently Stevens has a bit of a crush on Natalie, which she knows about, but she wasn't about to go there (I'm sure she'll go there later...). Meanwhile Natalie's boyfriend, Chris (Kris Knight) is trying to be all romantic and got her reservations at a restaurant she loves. Instead she picks a sushi restaurant he loves, but alas, it's only because she's got to stakeout a cheating husband for her next case.

Indeed, the wife-cheater, Larry (Manuel Ferrara), does show up at the restaurant, even while Chris is ordering food that makes Natalie want to vomit. She keeps her mind on her work though. With a hand bag that to anyone outside of porn-fantasy-land would be a dead-ringer for a surveillance camera, she starts getting shots of Larry and a waitress named Kioni (Charmane Star) as they make out at Larry's table. Natalie's boyfriend is non-plussed when he discovers that she's on the job, and he leaves in a huff. Love takes a backseat to ambition, though, as Natalie simply lets him go and follows Larry and Kioni into the back room to record Larry's extra-marital activities.

Scene 3 - Charmane Star & Manuel Ferrara

Charmane has always been a favorite of mine, with her gorgeous body, her little boobs and her pretty smile. You don't get to see too much of her smile here, but she looks pretty darn cute anyway in her black heels with ankle straps and her Japanese-esque garb. Charmane sucks on Manuel's cock for a bit before they go straight to business when she mounts him in the cowgirl position. Sofia is very rich and offering a big reward. Although Natalie tries to get Polaski to assign her to the case, he gives it to Stevens (Eric Masterson), so she decides to look for the dog independently. After putting up some posters, a hapless jogger (Al) walks by and gives her a promising lead where the dog might be found.

Natalie finds the house and lets herself in with her impressive lock-picking skills. Upstairs she finds that Stevens has already arrived, brandishing a fake gun that Natalie finds quite amusing. They both hide in a closet when they hear people coming. Turns out those people are none other than Missy (Katie Morgan) and Jack (Mr. Pete) who have nothing else on their mind but a little of the old in-and-out.

Scene 4 - Katie Morgan & Mr. Pete

I've always liked Katie Morgan. She's way cute. She's way blonde, and she's got a fun way about her. On the other hand, I like her a tad less now that she's had her boobs done. ::sigh:: But that's a matter of personal taste. Anyway, she's wearing some pretty heels, a denim skirt and a strappy turquoise top that looks rather yummy, thank you very much. Mr. Pete starts with some pussy-licking, and Katie returns the favor with some pretty decent cock-sucking, and a little bit of dirty-talk. They quickly progress to a spoon position, then to reverse cowgirl, then doggy, all while maintaining a lot of really nice energy that doesn't go over the top. This subtle reference is not lost on Natalie and Stevens, who go directly to the basement and find a smattering of stolen dogs--included among them is Sofia's "baby". On returning to the office, Polaski (Mike Horner) is quick to give all the credit to Stevens, and although Stevens tries to throw a little credit Natalie's way, Polaski pretty well ignores him.

A few weeks later, Sofia enlists the help of Polaski's firm yet again when she suspects that her pool boy Ricardo (Voodoo) is cheating on her by also sleeping with her sister. Yes, it's all very noble. Anyway, Stevens is assigned the case again, and he offers to let Natalie tag along if she'll allow him to take her to dinner. She refuses, but a few days later, Stevens doesn't show up for work, and Natalie decides she better go find him. She decides to masquerade as a maid at Sofia's sister Claire's (Nicole Sheridan's) house. It seems that the maid that Natalie is replacing has been expected to perform certain additional duties for Claire, and Natalie will be expected to perform them too.

Scene 5 - Nicole Sheridan & Felicia Fox

Nicole emerges wearing a hot pink strap-on, and wastes no time urging Felicia on her knees to suck it. There's some great half-amusing, half-sexy dialogue here that establishes Nicole as a strong dominant, while Felicia, in the interest of not blowing her cover, has to act the part of a Spanish speaking maid who literally gets fucked by her employer. THIS is what I fucking love about Stormy's movies. Where is this kind of stuff in Brad Armstrong's work, or Jonathan Morgan? Not only is it integrated beautifully with the story, there's actually some pretty adventurous themes explored here. Sure it's all a bit tongue-in-cheek, but its sexy too, and that that's exactly what makes it so cool. Anyway, I digress. Unfortunately, the strap on action doesn't last NEAR long enough, and the scene quickly degrades into an average girl-girl pairing with lots of fingering and moaning. Oh well.

After establishing Claire's loose and wild sexual tendencies, Natalie (Felicia Fox) leaves the house and sees Ricardo (Voodoo) getting into his pool boy sports car and driving off. Turns out he's taken Stevens hostage after finding out he was a private dick. Luckily Natalie is there to save the day when she punches Ricardo out. This was apparently enough to convince Polaski to have a change of heart and leave the firm in her capable hands after he retired.

All nice and neat, isn't it?

Scene 6 - Felicia Fox & Eric Masterson

Natalie (Felciia) and Stevens (Eric) attack each other on the desk in her fancy office. It's pretty much the usual stuff--some pussy licking and fingering, a little cock-sucking, they cycle through a few positions (doggy, reverse cowgirl, missionary), and Eric cums all over her tummy. Felicia does look pretty darn good, though, I have to admit.

All Access: The Making of Private Eyes: 30 Mins. This is an excellent featurette as usual. It is helmed by the ever-capable Mark Stone, and reveals some really nice personality moments with all the performers, particularly Felicia Fox, who really is a cutey-and-a-half. They also allude to a sex scene that was shot between Voodoo and Nicole Sheridan that didn't make the final cut of the movie. I can't say that I'm disappointed. I've seen enough of the requisite Voodoo / Nicole pairings as it is, I'm afraid.

OVERALL:
Although, if I were to make comparisons, this wasn't as good as Second Thoughts, I still enjoyed this one quite a bit. As I said, Felicia really has a way of growing on you. She has a magnetic personality, and although it doesn't all come out in the movie itself, the behind the scenes is really not to be missed. She's the kind of girl who makes you smile, and beyond that, she has a fantastically junoesque body that even "petite-fanatics" like myself can appreciate. As usual with Stormy's work, the sex in this movie is a notch above the average Wicked release in quality. There are a few excellent scenes here, and all the scenes go above and beyond when it comes to their integration with the situations of the movie. Trina Michaels and Tee Reel put together a great alley-way hooker scene. Charmane Star is as gorgeous as she ever is, and Manuel is one of the best male talents in the business. Their scene has some nice energy and Manuel really has a talent for making the most of his partner. In terms of chemistry, Mr. Pete and Katie Morgan have a great, high energy scene as well, and Katie (fake boobs or not) is a real cutie, especially when she's laying on top of Mr. Pete in the reverse cowgirl position. DAMN. Whew--anyway. Finally, there's some really cool strap-on dom/sub action between Felicia and Nicole Sheridan that shouldn't be discounted either.

Although I would definitely call this more of a comedy than a drama, it's a good comedy by porn standards, and Stormy really has an eye for balancing sexual performance with the tongue-in-cheek fun that a movie like this requires. I would definitely recommend it for those looking for a fun departure from so much of the porn today that takes itself too seriously--whether it's gonzo or feature. This is a story oriented movie with some pretty good sex to boot, and I challenge you to find too many of those out there these days.
