The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and although there are a few background noises they always seem to belong in the movie. As for the video, once again Wicked lets themselves be outdone by companies like Digital Playground and Adam and Eve on their video quality by presenting it in non-anamorphic widescreen rather than giving it the anamorphic transfer it deserves. It’s nicely lit and free of grain, but the non-anamorphic transfer definitely holds things back.

Music: The music is pretty typical porn music, but isn’t in every scene. It’s nicely balanced, and never interferes with the action.

Menus: As usual with Wicked, the main menu is nicely done and does a good job blending a bit of the movie with the boxcover. Sadly, their chapter menu is also the usual generic menu that lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the chapter menu.

The Feature

Natalie Baker (Felicia Fox) is a successful private detective, but of course success rarely comes easily. She started under Mr. Polanski (Mike Horner), a bitter and desperate man who was looking for a replacement. Her main competition came from Polanski’s nephew (Eric Masterson), who landed all the choice assignments. With hard work and a little luck, Felicia manages to climb the ladder taking on plenty of different cases.

Scene 1 - Felicia Fox and Kris Knight

After waking up late for work, Felicia’s man Kris just won’t let her get away easily, especially because he found that somebody must have stolen the special underwear he was wearing. He kisses her as she lies back on the bed, and slowly works his mouth down to start working on her pussy. Scene 2 - Trina Michaels and Tee Real

This is a very nice scene, both sexually and technically.

Scene 3 - Charmane Star and Manuel Ferrara

Charmane and Manuel head to the back room for a little romance at the sushi restaurant after kissing at the table. She warms him up with a hummer when they think they’re alone before climbing up for a cowgirl ride. To bring the plot into the scene a little, I love that they have Katie, who’s an incredible animal lover, as a dognapper. This is a very hot scene.

Scene 5 - Felicia Fox and Nicole Sheridan

When Felicia goes undercover as a maid, she finds that Nicole wants more than just her house cleaned. Felicia starts out helping Nicole clean up as she gets out of the tub before Nicole gives her a hard kiss on the mouth. Nicole disappears for a moment only to come back wearing a bright pink strap-on, and lets Felicia know that she better get on her knees and start working on it. Nicole asks Felicia lots of nasty questions while fucking her face, and then gets down to play with her pussy a little. This is a pretty hot scene. Felicia and Nicole both get into each other pretty well, and look like they’re having a lot of fun. There’s plenty of humor through the scene, and I love Felicia’s wild nodding and “Si!” answers to every one of Nicole’s often amusing questions. My only complaint about this scene is that it seems a bit short. One strap on position and one turn each for the girls to lick and finger each other isn’t a whole lot. This scene would have been a lot better if it were a little longer.

Scene 6 - Felicia Fox and Eric Masterson

Felicia and Eric get it on in the office for the final scene. After a quick passionate kiss, she hops onto the desk to let Eric tongue her pierced twat. Private Eyes is a very nice adult movie. The story works with the flashback method, but that works pretty well here as it lets the sex scenes fit into the story a little easier. Felicia does a great job leading the cast with Eric working very nicely as the male lead, and the movie nicely lets the chemistry between them develop over the movie. There’s also plenty of others helping out in non-sex roles, and not a bad non-sex performance anywhere in the movie. Sexually, the movie is also nicely done. There’s a nice variety of action, and it’s great to see some position changes thrown in rather than just having the sex cut from one position to the other without seeing anything in between. This has been one of my biggest problems with the sex in Wicked’s recent movies, and I hope that this is just the start of the change. Private Eyes is a nicely done feature, and continues to show why Stormy has been one of the best new directors to come out of 2005.

A bonus scene, promotional materials, the Wicked DVD catalog, and commercials are also included to round out the extras.

There’s quite a bit included for photo galleries. The main feature photo gallery lasts just over five and a half minutes. Star galleries are included for Felicia Fox, Charmane, Katie Morgan, Nicole Sheridan, and Trina Michaels, each of which lasts about two and a half minutes. In each case, you’re given about seven seconds per nice looking snapshot or full screen photo.

Interviews are included with Stormy Daniels and Felicia Fox. Stormy takes about five minutes to talk about why she hasn’t put herself in one of the movies she’s directed, how this movie came about, and how things have changed for her as a dancer. Felicia takes about five minutes to talk about being a little sore from all the sex in the movie and taking on Nicole. She also talks about working for Stormy and female directors, what she likes sexually on camera and at home, and watching her own movies. It’s a nice pair of interviews that have some nice personality.

All Access: The Making of Private Eyes lasts a half hour. Mark Stone works the camera for the featurette, meaning that you get plenty of fun chats with the cast. You get to see Stormy working with the cast to get what she wants. The biggest question here is what the heck happened to the scene between Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo, which seemed like it came off pretty good. Perhaps the most amusing this here is watching Stormy lay down the law on Manuel before his scene with Charmane. Unfortunately, the featurette is a little heavy on showing the scenes being shot and the actual scenes. I think it could probably have been cut down to half the length without it, which would have been nice since maybe that would have let Nicole and Voodoo’s scene be fit in. This is an okay behind the scenes featurette.

Bonus Scene - Felicia Fox, Rhiannon Bray, Kyle Stone, and Steve Hatcher

The bonus scene comes from The Devinn Lane Show 4. Felicia and Rhiannon start things out in a boxing ring wearing blue and red bikinis while Steve and Kyle lick them from below as they rest against the ropes. While Steve concentrates on Felicia’s pierced pussy, Kyle works his tongue all over Rhiannon’s undercarriage and gives her ass plenty of tongue love. The editing also seems a little choppy by not allowing any position changes to be shown. Although Felicia and Steve do a nice job, Rhiannon and Kyle were what made the scene for me. Okay, Rhiannon made the scene for me. I love her natural body and look, and her appreciation of sex seems just as real. This isn’t a great scene, but all the really good stuff here had Rhiannon involved.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Wicked’s newer releases can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with many stores offering them for around $20. This one’s well worth the lower end. The story and sex fit together nicely, and both are well done. Except for the non-anamorphic transfer the technical aspects show some nice care, and there’s a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a nicely done DVD.

Note to Wicked Pictures: As always, it would have been nice to see you giving the widescreen format the anamorphic transfer it deserves. It would have also been cool if you would have released this as a DVD director’s cut with Nicole and Voodoo’s scene or if you would have included it as a bonus scene.
