With STUD FARM, the latest release from Titan, photographers/directors Brian Mills and Harold Creg have devised another hot film. As we have come to expect with Titan, there is excellent photography, along with top-notch production values. The actors are manly even though there are quite a few younger performers in this one. Something of which I heartily approve. The casting of younger with older performers becomes more and more of a turn-on the older I get. The film opens with two of the aspects of work on a horse farm: feeding them and shoveling up their shit. Mature mustachioed Michael Ray is seen doing the former, and two young performers, Hans Ebson and Owen Hawk are seen doing the latter. These young guys take a break to slip into the barn for a bit of pud pulling. Hans has appeared in numerous videos and is certainly cute so it is puzzling that he has never made the mercury rise in my thermometer. I have no idea why. For Manplay 11, the Titan crew has packed up its cameras and headed to New York City. And if you think the studs on the east coast cant compare with those on the west coast, think again. Since this series gives the appearance that all it does is assemble a group of guys in one area and tell them to go it, the success of each film depends primarily on the looks, horniness, and lack of inhibitions among those assembled. Of course it also takes a super editor to make something viewable and quick-witted cameramen to capture the going-on. There are indications that a sharp director has at least given the performers their fucking order. Still, one never knows if one of these films will be a stiffener or a yawner. In Man-play 11, I never yawned once. Titan has assembled a great group of eight guys in the Big Apple. There are slender bears, a couple of handsome Latinos, a smooth nicely muscled stud and some just darn sexy dudes. Some will probably go on to appear in Titans major productions. Considering the high caliber product of which Titan is capable, this latest effort is something of a disappointment. It is reminiscent of an earlier pre-condom film WINNERS in which paintings in a gallery come to life. The Directors Expanded Edition consists of the regular film and a bonus disc. Disc one, therefore, is the same in both sets. DISC ONE The film opens with The Artist in His Studio. The artist Gil Cortez and his model Trent Cougar are locked in a kiss. The blondish Trent and the lovely Latinate Gil are a perfect pairing. Gil is the first to go down, swallowing Trents dick to the root and sucking his balls. Eventually it is Trents turn. Ive not seen Gil in anything before (he might have appeared in one the ManPlay films) and hes one hell of a dude. He kneels on a chair for Trent to eat out his ass. Remember that review of Manplay 7 I did a while back? Well, this one is pretty much the same, except theres an 8 in the title. Seriously. The guys, while different, have the same look to them. The sex is pretty much the same; the format (one long orgy) is the same. Its even shot on the exact same set (though theres a green light on in the background instead of #7s blue light). I swear, if I was colorblind, I would have a real tough time telling these 2 movies apart. What I Liked: The good news is that theres more fucking in 8. Manplay 7 had extended sequences of oral that went on for far too long. Theres a few more bottoms in the batch this time, too it seems. What I didnt Like: Most of the things that bothered me in 7 still bother me in 8. I wish we had actual scenes instead of this never-ending fuck-a-thon. This all feels a bit like Absolute Arid if you ask me but hey...no one asked me. I'm merely the reviewer and this is merely... Gorge The Director's Expanded Edit offers us something only a limited edition few will ever see. Two delectable discs (one of the film, and one of bonus material) jam packed full of action. We start off on Disc One as the film opens. Right away, I loved the soundtrack. It's got this dijidarro in the background and these grandiose woodwinds. Totally beautiful and really give you a sense of the landscape. I love landscape porn and the movie really doesn't disappoint in that aspect. The movie consists of 4 chapters: Blake Harper and Jason Branch having fun; a threesome with Jacob Scott, Jeff Halsey, and Scott Malone; a solo effort by Mark Wadsworth (how appropriate that name); and a hot session with Dean Coulter and Mike Roberts, with a suggestion of B&D. The whole thing is tied together (heres where what little plot there is comes in) by Ken Butler looking through a book of still B&W photos of sex scenes which then fade into the four Chapters. There are photos to accompany the text, many of which are not in the slide show, and the writing here is pretty good. The features: Static menu; trailers for this titles two sequels; chapters (16) and contact info. Thats it. Given the nice extras to be found on other Titan discs, this is very disappointing. The video for the most part is good, but somewhat grainy, and doesnt match the quality of more current releases (this was produced in 1997). Sound was merely adequate.
