Heat (Titan Director's Expanded Edit) Review

In these cold winter months, I felt a bit strapped for some warmer weather. Realizing that I would end up having to pay excruciatingly high electric bills to achieve this, I opted to warm the weather up in my pants. I purchased "Heat" from Titan Media. Titan actually has an offer going where you can purchase it with "Trespass" for only $99. Both of them are the full hardcore DVDs and they even come with a 3+ hour Hardcore preview DVD set as well. So you're getting like over 10 hours of movie for like $99. it's a pretty good deal. (One I couldn't pass up, anyway.)

Titan bills this as the top grossing gay porn DVD of all time and I can see why! It's funny because I totally hate big budget movies when I go to the theaters. I want my movies with lots of dialogue and very little money. But when I watch porn, I totally swoon on those landscape shots and those locales. "Heat" makes the landscape around it part of the storyline. You begin to love it as much as you love the actors.

Right away, I got the feeling that this was Super Porn. I mean, it's 2 hours and 41 minutes in length NOT COUNTING the extras, really sets a standard all it's own. I've been used to landscape shots in other films ("Absolute Arid", "Absolute Aqua", "High Tide"), but this was the first time that I got a real color orgasm as well as a REAL orgasm. We open the film with a long title intro and various shots on each of the actors. I kind of liked this and kind of didn't. I felt it was nice to see exactly who was who in which scene (they show the actors in "action"), but it seemed a bit long and almost a spoiler for what was to come...Not that it spoiled anything, mind you. But I still wanted to skip straight away to the next chapter to get to the goods. And wow...how good!

The music in the background was specifically designed by various musicians and totally gives you that upswept feel to it. I know that scene one actually had real life time lovers but they had been together so long, they didn't seem as electric as Brice Patton and Michael Vincenzo were. They just totally seemed so into each other and the night air just made it all the more mystical. Scene Four starts off almost two hours into the film. I had actually stopped the film several times at this point because it was just SO much to take in all at one time. There is like two hour's worth of extras on Heat. First, we are treated to previews to Titan's other releases of Eruption, Desert Train, Fluid, and Swell. I think I really want to see most of them! The preview for Desert Train was a bit slow, but who knows...sometimes previews can be deceiving.

Next up, I am treated to a behind the scenes vignette. I'd say this was roughly 15 to 20 minutes long and I really wished it would've been longer. It was just backstage shots and some fluffer fun. A photoshoot and other goodies. There's some wry humor there but mostly just glamorous porn spots. It leads me to wonder how much the actors made to do this, but oh well...I shain't wonder too much...
