I’m not normally one to gush, but LAID UP from Titan Media is superb. The men are hot. Make that very hot. The sexual activity is rarely mundane - sometimes it is quite challenging. Fetishes abound. The sex scenes are long and hard. Fantasies do come true. The directors manage to hit all the right bases erotically, and the hospital setting adds both humor and reality. LAID UP is definitely a remarkable achievement.
Gawd! HMO’s are nothing like this! The hospital which is the setting for LAID UP holds the best doctors in the gay world! Rugged, real men whose major prescription dispensing includes hot, clinical man-to-man sex. My doctors always just tell me to take two aspirins and call them in the morning!
A near rape sequence is the FIRST SCENE as hirsute patient (the lengthy- dicked and rugged Matt Sizemore) literally turns the tables on his equipment-wielding proctologist (cute as a button bottom Core Andrews) leading to a fast and furious foray frolic on the examination table. Filed with quirky humor as well as delectable camera work - gosh, who wouldn’t love to be licking up those beads of sweat that form on Core’s back as Sizemore proves that “size is more?”
The SECOND and THIRD SCENES feature the beautiful, black charms of Robert Collins - a buffed, lean mean sex machine, who’ll do anything to anyone to insure satsifaction. Collins has the best bedside manner, as proven in his rimming and cum eating scenes with pixiesque Jim Turner ( love those piercings) and daddy-type Mark Reed, both of whom take that bronzed licorice stick as far as the limits allow.
After the mighty charms of Collins, however, the FOURTH and remaining scenes (as good as they are) fall just short of total satisfaction. Actually, the SCENE FIVE takes the viewer to an altogether different level of sex toys, but I’ll get to the amazing talents of Steve Parker soon enough. Before Steve, we’re treated to a clandestine tryst in the supply closet as Billy Knight and Christopher Michaels are interrupted and scolded sexually by the perfectly studly Michael Vincenzo. And, then there’s Steve Parker in the scene that everyone will be talking about, as he inserts a cold steel rod into his piss-slit, right down the urethra while doctor Billy Matthews gazes on. Call it the pleasure- pain principle, but just the thought of it sends chills down my spine.
As much as I enjoyed this film (and look at that across the board rating), I found that the bonus content was equally worth the time investment. The bonus trailer for JACKED-UP makes the mayhem of mechanics look interesting - especially the shots of daddy Rolio Vizzaro pissing into a sink and the long-haired glory of Joe Hix - and I believe a trip to these mechanics’ garage is in order. A truly major bonus is having the Complete Scene Three Sex Scene - really! The more exposure to Robert Collins, the happier my days and nights. A couple of purely promotional Interviews (with Core Andrews and Michael Vincenzo) are alright, while the far too short Blooper Reel lends loads of humor. Keep close watch for Michael Vincenzo’s box for a great laugh. The Cumshot Review could be considered The Readers’ Digest© Condensed version of LAID UP, showcasing each and everyone of the film’s copious climaxes in a relatively short period of time. Still photographs by co-director Brian Mills make up the nicely arranged, self-paying Slide Show; while DVD-ROM users will find connections to www.TitanMen.com.
Surprisingly, directors Brian Mills and Harold Creg off up an enlightening, humorous, anecdotal and educational Directors’ Commentary. I’ve gotta say that Director Commentaries are one of the chief reasons I have for purchasing so many mainstream or commercial films on dvd; to find one attached to an adult title, and one as well- executed as this one, is a major coup for adult dvds. Sharing secrets of filmmaking, as well as gushing of the sheer beauty of Robert Collins, the directors sprinkle their friendly chat with a fair share of technical advice on lighting, camera set-ups and dealing with actors. A commentary not to be missed.
The picture quality is way, way above average, showing off not only the men, but the details of the sets and medical instruments. Sound-wise, LAID UP is also well-above average.
Titan Media has not only produced an excellent film, the dvd itself is a reference disc. It’s entertaining, it’s hot, what more could you ask for? With fully animated menu screens (and a whopping Twenty-Six Chapters) and a longer running time than most adult entries, this one is definitely a keeper. From the sex to the sexy men straight on through the bonus materials, LAID UP is one of the best produced films on dvd, don’t hesitate - get yourself involved with LAID UP - soon!
