Review brief: NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies dont have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. Im rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also arent normally the glamour stars one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as its often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesnt have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what theyre doing to have fun and because they enjoy it.

The audio is pretty clear and well balanced, but there is a bit of camera noise in the background. The video is nicely lit and almost completely free of grain. Theres a little camera motion, but never so much as to interfere with the movie. Music: None Menus: The menus are extremely basic. None of them have any animation and if you dont make a selection within about thirty seconds the DVD stops. The Feature Brunette Layla has come by to apply for the new secretary job.

Review brief: Can anyone actually say what is good and what is bad in porn? Of course not. For every stroker who likes abusive, hard-charging sex there is another who likes softer, more couples oriented features. Luckily there is enough variety out there to make just about everyone happy. Then there is the Private Castings series. As broad-minded as I like to think of myself, I cannot fathom anyone enjoying this series. There are nine scenes in this edition (if you count a short strip tease in the finale) and I found myself fast forwarding through most of it. Each scene opens with (supposedly) the first interview director Pierre Woodman conducted with each girl before she went on to make movies. The interviews are repetitious and boring. Pierre speaks poor English, and few of the girls speak any at all. So we have to wait for an interpreter to do her thing before and after each response.

Review brief: I loved the plot and the acting in the mob-themed Paul Thomas picture. Vince Vouyer and Alexandra Silk were especially convincing with their New Jersey accents, but everyone seemed to be trying to stay in character. Unfortunately, the forces of evil at Vivid cut this film to ribbons before releasing it on DVD. The film was originally 131 minutes on VHS, and the DVD runs 84 minutes. You don't need to be a math major to see that more than 45 minutes have been cut from the movie, including two entire scenes. It really should be callled outtakes from "Mobster's Wife." On the flipside, there are two versions of a behind the scenes featurette, together totalling almost an hour, but in no way does the behind the scenes featurette compensate for not having the entire film on DVD. For some unknown reason, the people at Vivid cut up all of th 1990s Paul Thomas features before releasing them on DVD. I don't know which is worse, not getting the whole movie or knowing what enormous contempt the people at Vivid have for me (and you), their customer. But they are the contemptible ones.

There are places where the audio completely disappears, and you can sometimes hear the performers being given directions.

Review brief: Casting Couch #5 is another good reason to avoid most Euro porn. This compilation from Hustler basically wastes some pretty decent looking talent with uninspired sex and terrible editing. Each scene is preceded by a boring interview with the girl, with both the interviewer (probably Pierre Woodman) and the girl having typical trouble with the English language. Thats followed by a short striptease and posing session. Yawn! The first scene is from Exxxotica #2, and features brunette Drimla (who was interviewed) and Sophie Paris (who was not interviewed). Who knows who the guy was, since there was the customary lack of credits. The threesome romps on a beach complete with salt, sand, and breaking waves. Stupid! Blond Nicole takes on two guys in a segment snipped from XXX #15. These three might have been playing Blind Twister for all the fun they seemed to be having. Music: The music varies in style nicely throughout the feature, which nicely enhances the scenes. Menus: The main menu is long, and almost acts as a trailer for the feature before the selections come up.

For starters, once you pop the DVD in, youre introduced to a long string of forced commercials for phone sex services. You cannot skip past them. You cannot fast forward through them. You cannot jump to the menu. You HAVE to run through each and every one of these commercials at normal speed before you get to the main menu. And if the subject matter is not your style like one showing men getting sodomized by women well thats too bad. THIS is the reason why this reviewer despises the practice of SHOVING commercials on the viewer. I was sorely tempted to chuck the DVD right then and there! Once you finally get to the main menu, you see nothing except a picture of Jenna bent over, winking her "brown eye" at the viewer.

There are nine scenes in this edition (if you count a short strip tease in the finale) and I found myself fast forwarding through most of it. Each scene opens with (supposedly) the first interview director Pierre Woodman conducted with each girl before she went on to make movies. The interviews are repetitious and boring. Pierre speaks poor English, and few of the girls speak any at all. So we have to wait for an interpreter to do her thing before and after each response.

Review brief: I loved the plot and the acting in the mob-themed Paul Thomas picture. Vince Vouyer and Alexandra Silk were especially convincing with their New Jersey accents, but everyone seemed to be trying to stay in character. Unfortunately, the forces of evil at Vivid cut this film to ribbons before releasing it on DVD. The film was originally 131 minutes on VHS, and the DVD runs 84 minutes. You don't need to be a math major to see that more than 45 minutes have been cut from the movie, including two entire scenes. It really should be callled outtakes from "Mobster's Wife." On the flipside, there are two versions of a behind the scenes featurette, together totalling almost an hour, but in no way does the behind the scenes featurette compensate for not having the entire film on DVD. For some unknown reason, the people at Vivid cut up all of th 1990s Paul Thomas features before releasing them on DVD. I don't know which is worse, not getting the whole movie or knowing what enormous contempt the people at Vivid have for me (and you), their customer. But they are the contemptible ones.
