...And Then Came Eve is a mess of a film to come from the mid-70s, which looks like it was several different productions all cut into one film or subsequent alterations to the film over the years since its initial release have rendered the film incomprehensible. The film starts out with a plot, Eve (Ane Task) and Gloria (Olga Davis) decide they are done being exploited by men and that it is their turn to exploit men, so they force delivery man Ed at gunpoint to service them.

This is where the plot and coherency bolt from the film to only briefly reappear at the end. The next two interlaced scenes are presented with a different cast and all the original dialog has been removed. Neither of the scenes have anything noticeable to do with the plot nor the first scene, other than the fact that one of them is shot on the same set as the first scene. It is impossible to determine for certain since music and canned sex sounds have replaced all the original sound for these scenes.

The next scene may have originally fit in with the plot at some point in time, but it doesn't make any sense now. Gloria drags some guy into a room where another woman (not Eve) is and Gloria tells her to use him as she sees fit. After that Gloria drags another guy into the room for herself. As presented here, the scene seems to be unrelated to the original plot. However, the dialog is intact so at one point it may have fit in.

The end of the film returns to the plot and we have Eve and Gloria together when they are visited by a man, who's car broke down, but then the film just ends. The scene seems to be part of the original plot narrative, and assuming that it is fully intact, would imply that there was plot narrative at some point that made this a humorous end to the film.

What exactly happened to ...And Then Came Eve since its initial conception is unknown. Whether at one point this was a coherent feature film that has been edited, altered, and destroyed over the years or whether the original production was never a coherent film, possibly due to lack of budget, is completely unclear. What is clear now is that ...And Then Came Eve is an incoherent mess with nothing to offer a viewer looking for a fun feature film.

The sex scenes aren't bad, they are fun to watch and despite the first scene starting with the forced sex implication, the scene itself comes across as completely consensual. The scenes are marred though by the entrance of what appears to be music added at a later date along with rather repetitive canned sex sounds, also appearing to have been added at a later date — probably at the same time as the music.

In short, there seems to be little point to seeking out this film. The lack of a coherent plot and marred sex scenes leave this film at the bottom of those being produced at the time. None of the stars went on to any major adult film career, with apparently only Ane Task and Olga Davis appearing in one other production.

VCX has done a poor job of releasing ...And Then Came Eve on DVD. The film is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and the picture presentation is poor. VCX has obviously used an old video master. The picture is washed out with muted colors. There is a complete lack of fine detail and there are glitches in the picture. While the video is watchable throughout, it is no better than a VHS tape. ...And Then Came Eve is presented with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Monaural track. The track presents itself as a 5.1 track, but it is clearly the original monaural soundtrack, which is all that is necessary for the production. The dialog, what little of it remains, is lower than the (later?) added music and sex sound effects.

VCX has included no extras on this release that relate to the feature film. The only extras included on the disc at all are four bonus sex scenes. One scene is the John Holmes and Susan Hart scene from Eruption, one is the Ron Jeremy and Jacqueline Lorians scene from Bad Girls 2, one scene is the John Holmes and Daphne Bliss scene from Personal Services, and the final scene is the Ron Jeremy and Shauna Grant scene from Suzie Superstar.

It would have been nice if VCX had come up with some extras that related to the feature film. The theatrical trailer would have been nice. If any of the pseudonymous people involved in the production were known by the studio, a piece on what the film was originally intended to be and where it went wrong would have been great. As it is, VCX has given us a poor transfer, of a bad movie, with no real useful extras.

...And Then Came Eve is a mess of an adult film from the mid-70s. If there was a coherent plot at any point in its existence, it has long since been removed from the film. While the sex scenes aren't bad, the utter incompetency behind the creation of the film and the lackluster release from VCX makes this an easy film to skip.
