Review brief: Sophisticated Sluts should be required viewing for all wannabe porn directors. This is a perfect example of how to do smut correctly, from the very cute girls to the relentless sex. If there is such as thing as class in porn, this flick has it. Anais Alexander, a cutie with curly blond hair, takes on Billy Glyde in the opening scene. Anais simply reeks of sex appeal. Review brief: The New Machine compilation train just keeps churning out the hits. Or lack thereof! Lauren Phoenix and Friends is the latest volume of the And Friends series, and its not any better than any of the others Ive reviewed. Basically, New Machine features one star performer, in this case Lauren, shows one scene from one of her New Machine features, then throws in a bunch of other clips of her so-called friends. My guess: Lauren isnt friends with any of these girls and probably hasnt even met most. This volume should have been titled B List Brunettes with Tats on Parade. I havent seen this much body ink since my last trip to the docks. Not only should most of these girls not be part of a compilation, they shouldnt have been allowed on the original feature. Aside from Asia Carrera and Gina Ryder, most of these are forgettable names (and bodies). Technically, the disc I watched had a very bad transfer from tape. The scenes were dark, with an almost brownish look to them.

Review brief: Can anyone actually say what is good and what is bad in porn? Of course not. For every stroker who likes abusive, hard-charging sex there is another who likes softer, more couples oriented features. Luckily there is enough variety out there to make just about everyone happy. Then there is the Private Castings series. As broad-minded as I like to think of myself, I cannot fathom anyone enjoying this series. There are nine scenes in this edition (if you count a short strip tease in the finale) and I found myself fast forwarding through most of it. Each scene opens with (supposedly) the first interview director Pierre Woodman conducted with each girl before she went on to make movies. The interviews are repetitious and boring. Pierre speaks poor English, and few of the girls speak any at all. So we have to wait for an interpreter to do her thing before and after each response.

The plot and storyline are stupid, the voiceover dubbing atrocious, and the sex is on the tepid side. Plot summation: Government agents (the country is not identified) must retrieve a tape showing a high-ranking officials sister (Melinda) having sex to avoid a scandal. Thats it! Fast forward through the acting and get to the sex. Among the beautiful women bumping uglies here are Chrystal, Angel, Drimla, and Lucy Love (Volume #1) as well as Violetta, Jane Darling, and Lucy Lee (Volume #2). None of the other girls are unattractive, only a small step below those mentioned above. There are the mandatory Euro orgies (a five-way and two four-ways). Theres plenty of anal action and facials. Director Patrick Handsome is proving to be a solid, if unspectacular, porn maker. As if identifying Euro stars isnt hard enough, on the box cover for Volume #2, most of the girls are misidentified.

Review brief: A Touch of Pink (aka The Best of Precious Pink) is a compilation of scenes from the Hustler series Precious Pink. Having never viewed this series, its difficult for me to say whether this is really a collection of the best scenes, or just a mish-mash of stuff thrown together to make a buck (like New Machines comps). What is known is that one of the girls seen here (Yvette Nieves from Volume #5) may be one of the most gorgeous girls ever to suck a dick on camera. Were talking drop dead category. Review brief: North Pole #53 isnt up to the usual high standards of this fine, solid series, but it aint bad! Volume #53 has a couple good looking girls (brunette Jassie James and blonde Sammie Rhodes), two who have made a few too many trips to the tattoo parlor for my taste (Allie Sin and Sanna), and one semi-cutie who needs to start eating at Subway (Sabina Black). All five vignettes get right to the action with little or no dialogue (always a good thing!). The sets are easy on the eyes (no dim warehouses or grimy garages), the lighting is good, and the camera always seems to capture the best angles of the ladies. As for the sex, Jassie does Sergio; Allie takes on Peter North; Sanna fucks Lee Stone; Sammie Rhodes gets Peter (again); and Sabina romps with Clark (no last name). Review brief: With a few minor edits, Barely Legal Innocence #1 could be an X-rated flick fit for hotel rooms instead of a XXX-rated flick for strokers. Call this Porn Lite! In typical Clive McLean style, the cameraman remains about 25 from the sex action, thereby giving us great shots of the surrounding scenery, but not much in the way of close-ups. My major complaint with McLean throughout his illustrious career is that he seems to be so proud of the sets he utilizes that he insists on showing us these panoramic shots instead of in-your-face close-ups. As for the sex, cute blonde Keri Sable starts things off with Nick Manning, who finally looks decent with his new, shorter haircut. This is a great scene, full of heat and enthusiasm. Keri never looked so good. She rides Nick (both CG and RC) like shes on a Disneyland thrill ride and takes a good facial. Very strong opener! Unfortunately, it goes downhill from there. Steven St. Croix, arguably the best actor in the industry today, is host of an underground TV show titles Thrill Kill Zone. The show deals with street racers. Because of his involvement in that sport, he is recruited by Dale DaBone to be an informant for the FBI as the agency tries to get the goods on Irish terrorist Evan Stone, who is also involved in the illegal races. This may be the first porn movie in history to include not one, but two, sword fights on a beach. No, not those kind of swords; real Japanese fighting swords. Theres pretty good editing as Evan and Steven battle on the sand and look convincing while doing it. But we watch porn for sex, and there just isnt enough heat among the performers to make it very interesting.

Felicia Fox and Cheyne Collins leave the others to explore the mansion. They end up in a dark bedroom and screw ending in a tit cumshot. Cytherea and Billy Glyde also find an abandoned room and make the most of it. Cytherea does her trademark squirt job here and takes Billys popshot on her butt. This scene suffers greatly from the use of what I unaffectionately call flowerpot camerawork. In this case, its a candleholder on the table that the director chooses to shoot the action from behind. Very distracting and agitating. Next, Sophie Evans and Randy Spears romp in a shower and, again, much of the action is shot through a decorative shower door, thereby obscuring most of the view. Aaaargh! Somehow, somewhere, Spears got transported back in time to 1931.

Review brief: Hannah Harper runs a talent agency for porn stars in Dream Teens. Sounds like the premise for a decent couples porn flick, right? Well, this is one you might NOT want to share with the Mrs. There is some pretty serious semi-rough sex in this Sin City feature. Theres butt fucking, A2M, choking, and throat gagging galore, hardly the ingredients for a romantic night at home with the little lady watching a few people suck and fuck. Know your audience well before showing this one. Forget the plot; its standard porn fodder. In the initial scene, brunette Haley Paige takes on Trent Tesoro, who pumps her bottom with abandon. Cute Roxy Jezel (with streaked brown hair) romps with Steven St. Croix next. Blond Jamie Brooks and Marco Duarte follow, and Jamie gets abused pretty hard here. No Sin City production is complete without some lesbian action, so here come Harmony Rose, Ryan Stone, and Jezel for some basic muff munching and dildo inserting.

Review brief: Pleasures of the Flesh #8 features some outstanding girls and, unfortunately, mostly lukewarm sex. Guess you gotta take the good with the bad. Blonde Stella Hot is just that searing in fact. She takes on Frank M. in the opening scene and gives arguably the hottest performance. Cute blond Dorina and attractive brunette Simnoy are next, and they wrestle with Leslie Taylor in a decent outdoor scene. Niki Blond used to be one of porns cutest girls, and she still looks darn good, but her scene with Renato left me reaching for the FF button. Streaked brunette Katrin and Mano appear to be counting sheep while they go through the motions in the penultimate scene. Blond Yasmine Gold and Jonny frolic in the final scene, the only action that does not end in a facial. Typical of Euro porn, the guys do more moaning in this flick than the girls. The so-called action is well-captured with the right angles.

Review brief: The Adam & Eve compilation Signature Series #9: Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo is for aficionados of Sheridan and her real-life boyfriend, Voodoo. They inform us early during an interview that they were recently voted Sexiest Couple in Hollywood or some such nonsense. If that is so, sex in Glitter Gulch is really getting boring. Not that the pair dont perform well in their scenes and give off a great chemistry. They do! But viewing eight scenes with basically the same stars gets tedious and dull after awhile. Nicole is at her best here and shows off her entire arsenal of sexual tricks: anal, facial, DP, and squirting.
