Silvia's Spell 1 Review

It’s not often a porno puts me to sleep. “Silvia’s Spell #1” set a new record by doing it twice in the same afternoon. This period piece in set in (where else?) Europe, and it features beautiful Silvia Saint and a bevy of other beauties.

But despite every girl getting drilled in the ass and taking a facial, the soft lighting and Muzak background in each scene kept me from staying alert. Slow is not the word for the pacing and the action; glacier-like best describes it.

The plot is set during the Renaissance period, and all the costumes seem accurate. Problem: most of the girls don’t remove their clothes during the sex. So here’s a cute blonde getting drilled and her petticoat and corset hide most of her body. All that shows is her breasts. What, they didn’t have hips and butts to admire in those days?

Forget the plot. It’s told in voiceover and it’s stupid (something about a royal family and an evil witch). In fact, there is very little actual dialogue spoken by the actors (usually a plus in my book). But there is no sound during the sex either, just the Zanfir music track with dubbed moaning. Zzzzzzz!

This is not to say I didn’t enjoy the flick when I was awake. As usual with Euro porn, the girls look fantastic, even when dressed as queens and stable girls. If your s/o doesn’t cringe at anal sex and facials, this is a perfect “couples” film. It’s even shot in 35mm, giving it a very soft look.

The cast list is typical Euro work, that is, even after much internet research and study, I can only positively identify Silvia in the fifth and final scene. I think Mina May and Wanda Curtis are also involved. Andrew Youngman got top billing, so I’ll assume he is young prince who gets lucky in three scenes. Leslie Taylor and J.J. Michaels are also identifiable.

On a technical note, there are 78 chapter stops in a 59-minute movie. Do the math. Some of the stops come only 10 seconds after the previous one. Unnecessary and aggravating when trying to FF through the boring parts.

There are tons of DVD extras, including five scenes with Silvia, probably from an upcoming series called “Lee Nover” (get it? “Ben Dover”).
