One of the most informative films Ive seen on the adult industry was Raw 1- Unsensored, and we would only be fortunate if the sequel turned out to be so interesting. The reality is that Raw 2 is quite different from Raw 1, which is very good for those seeking a more stimulating film. Raw 1 showed very little sex, and what was there was often not very stimulating. That is also true of Raw 2, even if it begins very well. Few women have had an impact on the adult industry in such a short period of time as Tera Patrick, whose stunning good look and sharp, witty and intelligent personality puts her ahead of most adult stars by considerable distance. She is a solid star to learn from, even if it is her fire engine scene with Randy Spears thats the most stimulating. The pair ravish one another for quite some time, and with the passion that rivals any of their previous work, unlike much of the dim work of Raw 1. If you count yourself among Antonio Adamos fans, the Private Penthouse box set of six of the directors films from 2000-2001 is nothing short of a treasure trove of erotic entertainment. Fans of Sylvia Saint will want to pick it up for the four titles graced by this pretty blonde starlet. The lovely Nikki Anderson stars in two of the movies, and she wont disappoint her admirers, either. Private Penthouse stands as one the best porn collections the industry has yet produced. If you like Adamo. This collection includes Call Girl, Fashion, Dangerous Things, Dangerous Things 2, Italian Flair, and The Last Muse. Its imperative, I think, that you appreciate the way Adamo goes about the business of shooting a sex scene to really enjoy these pictures. Not the hack a lot of directors are, Adamos style is unique. Now, whether its uniquely enjoyable or singularly frustrating depends on what you like. My own view leans heavily toward the latter. What I appreciate most about Adamo is his eye for beauty. Expectations The Private/Penthouse series was really the showcase of the talents of Antonio Adamo. He released 12 DVDs in this series. This box set captures 6 of them. I know the movies well, but I can't wait to see how the box has come out. Capsule Review All I can say is WOW! I am going to approach this review a little differently than I normally do, and I will dwell a while in this section. Also, I am not going to do a scene by scene review, but rather a disc by disc review. First off, let's broach the subject of Adamo. He is a very highly stylistic director that has a unique trademark feel to his movies. Some folks love his stuff, and others seem to hate it. I don't think there is a lot of middle ground. There have been comparisons drawn to Blake and Ninn, but other than the fact that those directors are also highly stylized, I don't think there are a lot of parallels. Adamo shoots porn as though it were a fashion magazine. Everything is bright, colors are deep and rich, wardrobe and sets are perfect, the women are made up. [read the full review]

The first thing that has to be said about Raw #1 is that it isn't a real adult film. Oh, there's plenty of naked women and sex, but this is not a reall film itself. Instead, it shows the process by which adult scenes are put together, and while most scenes are shown in quite some detail, I found it more educational than erotic. I also found it one of the most interesting films I've seen in a while. I have only two general complaints. Firstly, the video quality is terrible as the images are highly pixalated, some scenes worse than others. However, this behind the scene look was not shot with their main cameras but with cheaper extra ones so the diminished video quality can be excused. The second complaint I have is that they never say what films each scene is from. They certainly are not from the same film since they come from dozens of different directions, and the scenes were not just shot for this presentation. Expectations I generally like Private titles so I wanted to sample a disc from this series. When I saw Silvia in the title role, I figured it was time. Capsule Review This is a very weak DVD. If it is indicitive of other discs in this series (and I have no reason not to believe this is the case), it is a very weak series. Basically they haul out some moldy old interview footage of girls who would eventually work for Private. They do not look good in that they are not made up, costumed, etc. They answer some ridiculous questions for an extended period of time. They take off their clothes and pose for a few minutes. Then we cut to a scene from another Private movie, along with the outtakes from the scene. This is a compilation disc at best, and a bad one at that! Overall: The 10th volume of the series is so far the best one since the women are attractive. It still follows the same formula, but the quality of women has increased from the prior volumes. DVD Quality: The video quality is at best below average.  Extras: The Pierre Woodman interview is slightly informative and explains why he uses the same male talent. He uses the same male talent because he trusts them in compromising situations, especially when they are in a country where it may be forbidden to make a porno movie. I had seen its predecessor, the Hottest Pink, and was generally unimpressed. Audio /Video Quality: The audio isnt balanced too well. The dialogue is too soft and often hard to hear. Its also dubbed badly. The video is a mix of color and black and white. Its very clear except when its not meant to be. Music: The musical style varies and includes both techno and rap. Its fitting but way too loud. The girls look fantastic, the scenes have the actual girls moaning (instead of Private dubbing it over as in most cases!), it looks like a thousand bucks and the guys aren't the 'off putting' dirty old men type. A problem with Adamo films is the sexual heat. Scenes can often look loveless and sterile, and basically without feeling. Synopsis This movie has one really good scene (the third), and another worth watching (the first). Theres just enough grain that you notice it. For being shot on film its about as little grain as Ive seen in an adult movie. The audio is well balanced, although there are a couple flaws in the movie. Theyre not that noticeable and the audio synchs very well throughout the movie.
