Initial Expectations: Although he isn’t one of my favorite directors, Nic Cramer can do some good stuff and has surprised me a few times. I’m hoping this is another good surprise, since it sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but I’m not expecting it.

Audio /Video Quality: As with many of Nic Cramer’s features, this one is in widescreen and is extremely grainy. In most cases it works as some of the art direction, since many of the scenes are fantasy scenes. On the plus side, the colors haven’t been messed with as in some of Cramer’s other features. The audio is very good and nicely balanced.

Music: The fairly typical techno porno music ranges from fairly loud to nicely balanced.

Menus: The menus are Pleasure’s usual simple menus. There’s a nice little bit of animation, but that’s about it. The chapter menu is listed by numbers.

The Feature: Randy Spears plays an adult comic book artist. Most everybody thinks he’s a loser, but he loves his art and doesn’t want to see anybody exploit it. His friend Alec Metro tries setting him up with Tyler, but he chases her off after he thinks she wants to exploit his art. He does realize that she’s some of what he needs in his life, and sets out to balance his fantasy world with reality.

As much as part of me hates to admit it, I’m really starting to like Nic Cramer’s movies. He has a definite style, which takes some getting used to, but he also has some great art direction. Secret World is a fairly fun fluff film, that has some good sex as well. It also has real credits at the end, which is always a great touch, and they’re worth watching because Mr. Cramer has fun with them throwing in some dirty jokes. Since Mr. Cramer’s style doesn’t appeal to everybody, I recommend renting a few of his features before buying them until you know if you like his style or not, but if you’re a fan of his style, you’re going to want to pick this one up.

Extras: As usual, Pleasure has an extensive photo gallery that looks pretty nice. There’s forty pictures that mix full screen shots with snapshots. Very short and forgettable bios are included for both Tyler and Silvia that don’t really tell you anything you can’t see in their picture. Pleasure’s standard selection of trailers is also here, which includes many of Nic Cramer’s other features. It’s a great selection, but I can’t help but with they’d change it around a little more. Finally, there’s internet and phone sex information.

Overall: Currently, Secret World can be found online for between $15 and $23 with all but a couple stores offering it for under $20. If you’re a fan of Nic Cramer’s style, you’ll be very happy with it at the lower end. Even if you’re just curious, it’s one of Cramer’s most mainstream porn friendly features. The plot is pretty good and well acted, as is the sex. As usual, his technical aspects leave a little to be desired, but even that fits in fairly well here. The extras are pretty normal from Pleasure, and are a little on the shy side.

Note to Pleasure: It’s great to see you supporting the widescreen format, but please go all the way rather than just matting it.
