Initial Expectations: Both Underworld and Adrenaline really impressed me, so I have high hopes for this Michael Raven feature as well.

Initial Reaction: It’s a dang hot all sex feature.

Who Should Watch It : Raincoaters, fans of any of the stars, anybody looking for hot artistic sex and slightly rougher sex.

Who Should Avoid It: Fans of tame sex and plot.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio comes across very clean. It ranges from being well balanced to the music being the only audio. The video has just enough grain to look like it was shot on film.

Music: The music is very modern and even has lyrics in parts. It’s a great mix of techno and rock and ranges from normally being very well balanced to being the only audio in the scene.

Disc Problems / Complaints: As usual with Sin City’s DVDs there isn’t a time stamp on the feature, which I feel is a must. This is even poorer than normal as my DVD-ROM wouldn’t even allow me to advance back and forth. There are chapters in the feature, so you can skip forward, but I had trouble skipping back a couple chapters. It’s also divided into two different chapters (the second starting with Maya’s scene). You can’t scan or skip back past the start of this scene. Luckily, somebody woke up and stopped doing the DVDs like this (since Underworld and Adrenaline. Also, Sin City has mandatory commercials for phone sex and their wed site at the beginning. I can respect that some people want to see the phone sex commercials and that Sin City is probably very proud of their web site, but it really ticks me off to have to watch it. Although I don’t like having any commercials at the start of a DVD, I could live with it a lot more if they could be skipped. Combined, it’s enough that I can’t help but rate the overall DVD down by half a point.

Menus: The main menu has a great opening showing each girl and her name in a fresh fashion.

The Feature: Blondes opens with a nice montage of the girls in the feature along with showing their name in the opening credits. Unlike many of Michael Raven’s other features, this one is full screen rather than widescreen, but it still looks just as good. Unlike Jim Holliday’s titles, Michael Raven gives you exactly what he says. Blondes has a blonde in every scene. They aren’t always natural, but they are blonde. Each girl gives a little tease and then gets busy, just as they did in Mr. Raven’s Puritan Video Magazine 27. I’m not always happy with this formula, but with a cast like this, it’s hard not to like it.

April starts things out dressed kind of like a gang bitch wearing a red bandana, cutoff jean shorts, and a white tied off t-shirt. She looks really hot but I was a little turned off by her opening gesture being the finger. She does a nice little strip but her nasty side comes out a little again as she pees for the camera a couple times. Extras: Blondes falls short on extras. The photo gallery contains about 32 photos that range from a few being poor to a few being slightly above average. Trailers are included for Eighteen and Awesome, Eighteen and Anxious, and the first four Just 18 features. Of course, there’s also web site and phone sex commercials that you didn’t have a choice whether you were going to watch at the start or not. If you choose to watch them again from the main menu you don’t have an option to skip ahead to the menu quickly. You have to watch the entire thing again.

Although the sex is extremely hot and the transfer isn’t too bad, the extras are really lame and some of the DVD format leaves much to be desired.
