Way over the top in plot, you will get lost trying to follow it all. You might get annoyed, too, since the dialog and acting seem to take significant time from the sex scenes. But some of those scenes are quite hot, particularly a three-way with Jack Dillon, Rick Bolton (the main character of the flick), and Wes Daniels. And the cast is great eye candy even when the sex is less than scintillating. The directors commentary is a nice addition, too. All in all, a fun flick that could have been hotter. Its 1967 and Rick Bolton is in bed sucking on Johnny Rahms unique dick. I was not surprised when Wash West directed a traditional Hollywood film with THE FLUFFER. West had been directing films for years under the classification of gay porn. I was worried that having gone legit, he might turn his back on his origins. Thankfully, THE HOLE is proof that he hasnt. In a Wash West film we can expect a clever plot, a well-written and witty script, and some very hot sex. THE HOLE provides all of these, and I wish I could give it the full five stars; but with one wooden performance and a sex scene that comes nowhere near reaching its full potential, I am unable to give it that. It is still, however, a hell of a film! The film is based on the horror film THE RING that in turn was based on a Japanese film, RINGU. Ive not yet seen the Japanese original, but I have seen the American remake. The gimmick in these films is that if you watch a particular tape you will die in seven days. I swear, if I was colorblind, I would have a real tough time telling these 2 movies apart. What I Liked: The good news is that theres more fucking in 8. Manplay 7 had extended sequences of oral that went on for far too long. Theres a few more bottoms in the batch this time, too it seems. What I didnt Like: Most of the things that bothered me in 7 still bother me in 8. I wish we had actual scenes instead of this never-ending fuck-a-thon. I really dont like the films from this studio. I find them phony, poorly done, boring, and grossly overpriced. So why did I view this one? The answer is Richie Fine. Now, I like Richie. Hes blond, hes young, hes handsome, he sucks dick, and he takes it up the ass. (And if youve seen him in FIRE ISLAND CRUISING 2: BOYS IN HEAT you know hes a bit crazy as well.)
