Private Love Story Directed by Kovi Overall Impression This is a very solid entry into the Black Label line from Kovi. An excellent cast supplies some bankable performances. As of late I have been a little disappointed with Kovi titles, but this one is a little closer to the quality I know he is capable of. Plot "Everybody around Hilda enjoys sex. Only Hilda, being blind, seems condemned to have to guess the delicious aroma from bodies of those who have just made love, and masturbate to the rhythm of her neighbor's gasps of pleasure... Expectations Kovi's movies are generally good and the Black Label line has been fairly solid. I was disappointed by Love Is In The Web, so hopefully this release gets things back on track. Capsule Review Kovi has produced the best installment in this series in a very long time. The girls are all hot, the scenes are set up well, and the sex works! Expectations Kovi's movies are generally good and the Black Label line has been fairly solid. I was disappointed by Love Is In The Web, so hopefully this release gets things back on track. What is the other face of pleasure? It could be, if you buy the storyline in this film, a more exotic, riskier approach to sex. But I think its something more fundamental than that and a little more fun. The Other Face of Pleasure is Antonio Adamos sly poke at himself and his traditional approach to porn. Adamos fans may find themselves doing a double-take at this movie. It isnt what weve come to expect from the director: same amount of sex, same crisp and clear photography, the usual beautiful girls, but with a different emphasis. Adamo, who adores anal sex, provides only two examples of it in six scenes. Each includes double-penetration, another Adamo favorite, butjust twice? Somehow it doesnt seem right. And what about his money shots? All his actors cum, of course, but not one of them is allowed to do so on his partners face; theyre forced to aim instead for her tits. This film certainly has many of the qualities I found in the Penthouse films, like gorgeous women, amazing cinematography, great camera work, exotic sets, and outstanding wardrobe & makeup. However there are some things that I noticed in this film that seemed out of the ordinary and leave me a little concerned over the future of this series. There is not one single facial in this entire film, NOT ONE! I remember facial pop shots being standard issue in Adamo films. Secondly there is no anal from covergirl Moore, and only anal in two of the six scenes. I know I know its not the end of the world if there is no anal, but it is unexpected to see so few scenes with it in an Adamo film. Expectations Private has released a number of compilation DVDs in the last few years. These draw upon the vast library of scenes in the Private vault. Most of these DVDs have been solid, even if they are not spectacular. The one exception is the "Private Life" series which has been spectacular. Private's latest marketing ploy is to collect up several of their prior DVDs and to bundle them together as a superpack. Capsule Review I recently reviewed the Private/Penthouse box set and I was thrilled. The care they put into that re-package was obvious. Unfortunately, they do not seem to value all of their re-releases equally. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing flawed about this release. It's just that there is nothing special either. In effect, they have taken three of their Anal compilation DVDs - Anal Toppers, Anal Introductions, and Pure Anal - packaged them in a 4 DVD case with their Sampler 6, and covered it with a new picture. Its not easy to imagine. A professionally produced feature film, an acclaimed director at the helm, an attractive castit seems ludicrous, impossible, yet Antonio Adamo has done it. Hes managed to make lesbian sex look pathetic. This has nothing to do with taste or preference. Some people like girl/girl, some people dont. Thats never stopped the girls from getting off just the same. No, what Adamos done here, in the conclusion of his Gladiator trilogy, is put on film a visual representation of the sexual chauvinism that preaches a good fuck is all thats standing between a lesbian and real sex. While Lynn Stone and Barbarella moan with heterosexual orgasmic pleasure in the foreground of the movies second scene, a couple of chicks remain interminably locked in a weak, quiet 69 in the background. Adamos close-ups dont add any excitement to the tryst; they merely clarify how unsatisfying it must be. The only thing holding me back from giving this film the higher rating it really deserves is the setting. I guess I can appreciate the classical Roman theme and it really worked for me at times, but in all honesty I could care less about the plot, and would be willing to throw it out the window completely if it meant I would get to see these women draped in the high fashion, and sexy lingerie I'm accustomed to seeing them in. I see Michelle Wild and Kristina Bella are in a scene together so I have high hopes for that one. Our first scene stars Lynn Ston, Robby Blake, and Francesco in a little story called "Sade's Dungeon Perversions". Everyone is dressed in costumes right out of Dangerous Liasons to give you a reference to how they look or the movie Amadeus might help you out better. Anyway, you get a voice over to begin the scene telling you the background story. As this voice talks you see the two men and Lynn Stone appear and as they show up you see the two men playing with Lynn's gorgeous backside. However, I must state upfront with this scene the lighting was just way to dark for me. I am sure the director was going for an effect and some might like it but me I like to have a clear view of the action and you have to really strain your eyes to see some of the action. Expectations I'm still getting a feel for this series. I have only seen one other title from this series and it was a mixed bag. On the one hand, the original material was good and well worth watching. The problem was that the disc had too much filler. I figure I will watch a couple more titles from the series to give it a fair shake. Capsule Review This disc definitely has some strong original material, and hardcore Private fans may want to check this one out just for these new scenes... but, like the other volume, there is still too much rehash. In particular, this disc contains two "Private Reports", Sex In A Frame and Fever. While these reports are interesting, they are generally included as bonus material on other Private releases and as such, I have a difficult time counting them as scenes on this disc. I will not review them as such. However, unlike Reality 7, this DVD still contains enough new material (5 scenes) to make this disc worth checking out. Expectations I'm still getting a feel for this series. I have only seen one other title from this series and it was a mixed bag. On the one hand, the original material was good and well worth watching. The problem was that the disc had too much filler. I figure I will watch a couple more titles from the series to give it a fair shake. Capsule Review This disc definitely has some strong original material, and hardcore Private fans may want to check this one out just for these new scenes... but, like the other volume, there is still too much rehash. In particular, this disc contains two "Private Reports", Sex In A Frame and Fever. While these reports are interesting, they are generally included as bonus material on other Private releases and as such, I have a difficult time counting them as scenes on this disc. I will not review them as such. However, unlike Reality 7, this DVD still contains enough new material (5 scenes) to make this disc worth checking out. The audio is crisp and clear, as is the video. The audio synchs pretty well with the video, and is fairly comparable to middle of the road cartoons. The mouths move, but its more of an open and close motion rather than the trying to approximate some of the complexities of speaking. Jose Maria,Ponce is a spanish well known director in his country, because he made films like Gothix (which later inspired this film), Four Sex Rooms (a parody of Four Rooms, with four porn directors) and mainly because he was the first serious porn films' director in Spain (nothing really explicit was filmed in Spain until his coming, in 1993). So Private expect more of him. In fact, he later directed another film for the Fetish Machine label. This is an explanation for those who don't know the full story. Ponce tried to make a mix between gonzo and feature film, but it tends to the first side, though the sex could be much stronger. I guess it just goes to show how important a good director and a solid crew are for a successful feature. In my mind it just reinforces how talented directors like Adamo are. All the elements are here, for a terrific film. There is a star studded European cast, strong performances, and a seemingly huge budget. Although the picture quality is top notch on this dvd, and there are moments that are beautifully lit, there are quite a few moments when the lighting stinks. But Ninn he is not and the final product does not have the shine and technical polish of a Ninn film. However, some of the sex is very hot and the girls are exceptional. So while I don't think of this DVD as some sort of trend setter, it has a few whackable moments. Also, the choice of story, Faust, is somewhat silly. I mean, how could one truly portray one of the classics in terms of porn? Unluckily it gets in the way of quite a few scenes. Thats not easy to say since these two scenes comprise only about 25 of the total movie. In distinctly different ways, however, they demonstrate how good porn can be with a little technical know-how and some imagination. Not that the rest of the film is in any way substandard Private fare. But thats all it is, standard issue. Antonio Adamo weighs in with yet another Roman scene, Romani Erectus, an MMF scenario that, except for the set, has about as much to do with Rome as Spaghetti-Os. On the other hand, it isnt quite as artificial as Kovis No Brake Girls and another segment called Bon Appetit. Both of these scenes are two-couple affairs. In Private movies, that means the girls rarely if ever touch each other and sooner or later one of them will be abandoned in order to squeeze in the obligatory double-penetration shots. Expectations I generally like Private titles so I wanted to sample a disc from this series. When I saw Silvia in the title role, I figured it was time. Capsule Review This is a very weak DVD. Description An ambitious costume drama, relying heavily on flowing gowns, lavish sets, and spectacle. Cast Includes Toni Ribas, Rita Faltoyano, Frank Gunn, Mandy Bright, and many others. General Impressions First, it's directed by Antonio Adamo, so I'm pretty much expecting beautiful women, beautifully photographed - but with sterile posing, camera-looking, and fake dubbed moaning. And this movie delivers as expected. The heat of the sex is mostly lost in the overdubbing and camera-mugging. Sex On the plus side, we have all-natural breasts, and some nice dicks playing hide and seek in their adorable turtlenecks. Also of note, no high heels for a change, something that my husband noted with appreciation. In the first scene, Rita offers Frank 'wild sex' with barbarian women. It proves to be not-so-wild, and the barbarian women are pretty tame-looking, with shaved pussies, and apparent access to rich emollients and moisturizers, good dental care, etc. [read the full review]

What volume of the Triple X series it came from, when and where it was filmed, and who directed it. Viewers who like nastier sex with a plot should enjoy this film whereas viewers who like tame sex or can't stand a plot will want to skip this film. If you aren't interested in the deluxe packaging and collectible booklet the come with the Limited Edition release, this is the edition of The Private Gladiator for you as all the rest of the material is included in this release.
