Originally issued on VHS in 1998, Castings 6 is the result of another raid on Pierre Woodman's archive of audition tapes, interviews, photo shoot coverage and a few sex scenes from Private features too. The persuasive Frenchman spent much of the early nineties in Eastern Europe seeking fresh porn talent, and this series shows off what he found, and how he found it. And look at the kind of names he discovered. Isn't it great of him to share it with us?

Sidonie
This very blonde French girl of Swedish extraction is perhaps best known for her appearances with Rocco and Sandy, e.g. Sandy L'Insaziabile. I didn't like her there, but at least in this 1993 interview she looks a little more natural. She clearly rates herself highly, opining "there are too many ugly girls in porn." Meow! Who's to say that you don't rank among their number, my dear Sidonie? Anyway, she strips off her dress and tights, and shows her tall slim figure, perhaps a little too slim for her frame, and seems at ease with all the proposed sex acts. She seems to have done it all, even a gangbang with nine guys. In the rather poor clip of a photo shoot that follows, she seems to find her three-guy scene a bit of a giggle. Crap music doesn't help. This is swiftly followed up by a truncated scene Private Video magazine scene, another three guy affair with anal and DP. It's all too brief and the facial come shots are obscured by shadow - crazy when it's shot at a sun-drenched poolside location.

Svetlana
There's no chance that this 19-year-old economics student is going to do porn, is there? She's just too young and sweet! Predictably Pierre's Private magazines shock her in the interview, and Pierre, after some choice comments, decides they need to talk. Following an abrupt cut, she strips off her conservative attire, revealing a nice slim figure. She smiles easily and often through the usual prying questions about her sex life. She's so sweet; I can't believe she'll do it. But of course she's going to do it - was there ever any doubt? The grainy picture quality aside, it's mildly astonishing to see her teamed with three guys (perhaps excessive, but it appears to have been the standard MO for Woodman in those days) and some bad knitwear. She has great legs. Anal and facials are included.

Karina
A pretty, pouting brunette, Karina needs careful handling in interview. She's inexperienced to say the least, and looks intently at the magazine as they chat. Oh dear. She looks embarrassed, but lo and behold, the next thing you know she's stripping off and posing for the usual test poses. Physically, she's got nothing to be embarrassed about. On to the photo shoot, which begins with Pierre actually plucking hair from her top lip and shaving her pussy. With a sprinkle of the old Private stardust, she's ready and frankly too gorgeous now for the three guys, including a young and long haired David Perry, who accompany her in a shoot (the usual anal, facials and a lovely come-splattered smile!) in the insalubrious surroundings of a scrap yard. Her exquisite uncertainty is a real heart breaker, and with her wearing the same dress I wonder if she did this shoot on the same day as the interview. Talk about in at the deep end! Better for Karina as Woodman keeps his promise to her of travel - a catamaran in the Seychelles is not bad going for a young Russian lass in 1993 - even if the price is to have sex on camera with three guys, including anal, DP and facials. Her winning smile tends to put me in the mind that the girls of this period were among the most naturally gorgeous and totally unaffected that Private ever cast. That's what this series is really about.

Anita Rinaldi
This good-looking, 21-year-old blonde is simply and naturally good fun, with a great attitude in the interview. She speaks Italian (not always audibly) but is already involved in the Budapest porn scene, even at this relatively early interview date (1992). Since then she has performed in many videos and even directed her own, as I recall. As something of an exhibitionist, she's happy to strip off. She has plenty to say for herself, her attitude to porn and sex is relaxed and though she doesn't like anal or DP she's ready to do it. I think she's just great. The dim, grainy photo shoot footage doesn't really do her justice - I'd like to have seen a better clip, because though I have seen a lot of her magazine clips, I can't consciously recall seeing a video of hers. There's some good humour on set as she also takes on three guys including anal and DP, and lots of come fired on her face.

Dalia
This pretty Lithuanian brunette has terribly fluffy curly hair, but appears bright-eyed and bushy tailed in the interview. She speaks some English but a translator is needed - the talk appears to be at cross-purposes at times. I don't think she's nearly as shocked by the magazines as is suggested, and during a chat about her sex life she's quietly confident, with a nice smile, though she's shyer about showing her slim body. Nonetheless, she's plunged into a photo shoot, and the way she sucks cock at the outset is just divine. Just two guys for her, with anal, DP and one come shot on her open ass, the other on her face. The real thrill is just to see unlikely girls like Dalia in such brazen porno action.

Anita Blond
No introduction necessary in this day and age surely, for the Hungarian star, one of Europe's top talents. However, it's perhaps surprising to see Anita was less than glamorous as a gum chewing, fag-smoking 18-year-old interviewee, with straggly straw hair and clumsy make-up. Hints of the smouldering beauty that she grew into are evident in her eyes and smile, but it's when she sheds her dress that her star quality, shall we say, becomes apparent. Her body is, as you should know, amazing, with one of the best natural pairs of boobs around. The interview is slightly unsatisfactory for reasons other than her stated dislike of anal - the translator does too much chatting with her without fully relaying her comments in English. A scene from Arrowhead is a further disappointment - it has been edited beyond sense as Melissa Hill (her contribution is cut out as far as possible) joins Anita to give combat gear clad Yves Baillat (then again, perhaps it's best to see as little of the scene as possible!) some frantic oral and a ludicrously brief reverse cowgirl fuck and the girls share a facial.

Ines and Inga
Two absolute sweeties - two Latvian non-identical twins, all of 20 years old, all long straight raven hair, shy smiles and smooth suntanned skin. "Twins, eh?" I hear you say - just put that thought out of your mind, young man! Both have since developed a respectable CV for Private, but at this interview they appear utterly naïve and clueless, having only modelled for an artist in Moscow, and the stuff they see in Pierre's dirty mags just goes too far. In fact, they have to ask what the icky stuff on the girl's face is…

The interview cuts a couple of times, the crucial conversations clearly taking place off camera yet again, as they giggle their way through the rude questions. They seem to have little or no sexual experience. Finally they agree to show their lovely bodies - Inga is prettier (demonstrated admirably in Tatiana, for example) but Ines has perhaps the better body. Some persuasion is needed to get them to do the test poses - I'd love to know what really went on, as Pierre comments at one point about already having paid for their plane tickets.

Anyway, the whys and wherefores aside, Pierre then initiates both girls, in two separate but similar sex sessions captured in the standard way by a tripod-mounted camera. Inga goes first, then Ines, and Pierre treats each to a thorough fucking, starting with gentle pussy eating that really gets them going and working through some quite ruthless shafting to a relentless anal screwing. There are lots of positions, mainly with Pierre forcing the pace though he does let the girls ride him briefly, lots of hard sex with an undeniable rough edge (smacks, the odd slap and hair pulling, slightly rougher with Ines) and frankly they respond extremely well. It's actually interesting to compare their reactions to Woodman's furious fucking, Inga pants heavily but internalises more, while Ines' arms lash around as Woodman's pistoning prick drives her to distraction and her taut, tanned body looks fabulous as she writhes around, clawing at the sheets.

Inga's scene finishes with Woodman coming on her ass; she quickly and keenly sucks him and then collapses, all smiles, into his arms. Ines reluctantly tosses Woodman off into her mouth and sucks him. Well, what an introduction to the world of porn. If they didn't know about it before, they do know, and I wonder if better this in their porn careers, even with the basic shooting. If you can tolerate the sight of the naked, hairy French director, then this unique pair of initiations is highly recommended to see some truly intense high-energy sex with two real cuties taking giant leaps as their first steps in porn. A side note - the thought I hint at above is catered for in a stills photo shoot in the extras where some sisterly "affection" is suggested, if not genuinely depicted (there's a picture on the back cover).

Vanessa
A short and unsuccessful casting has attractive Vanessa already stripping as the clip begins, being ordered to remove her panties and tights. Shame she didn't grasp the poses Pierre is after, because she has a nice body and great boobs with prominent areolas. I guess she's another one that got away - given that Woodman claims to have thousands of interviews on tape, yet has only released audition clips castings numbering in hundreds suggests there are many more like Vanessa out there.

Overall
In short, this is one of the best editions of the Castings series that I have seen to date, if not the best, with some outstanding and noteworthy girls (a good mix of differing personalities, physiques and attitudes - from stars to wannabes and one hit wonders, and, of course, those oh-so-innocent little dolls from the former Soviet Union), interesting interviews and a sensational pair of initiations.

As always the picture quality leaves something to be desired at times, but this one is better, even if the movie clips are not well chosen and are too heavily edited - Anita Blond fans may feel slightly let down if buying Castings 6 only for her appearance, though her audition is of interest. The score I give has to take into account the limited appeal - much of the 2 hours of pretty basic footage is not sex, but chat and posing - but in my view Castings 6 was a real pleasure and has particular parts that will certainly sustain repeat viewing.

DVD Comments
As mentioned above, the picture quality is really very basic; certainly not the high standard of digital clarity that is now readily available, but then the age of the footage has to be considered. The movie clips are definitely better quality than has been the case in previous Castings. The original interview sound is not always good, but the translations - all dubbed, not subtitled, in English - are clear. Again, the extras are a good package with each girl's profile linked to a set of still pictures (where available) and to her casting scene. There's also a short interview with Pierre Woodman, trailers, and DVD Rom materials (DVD catalogue, wallpaper pics).
