Not that the rest of the film is in any way substandard Private fare. But that’s all it is, standard issue. Antonio Adamo weighs in with yet another Roman scene, “Romani Erectus,” an MMF scenario that, except for the set, has about as much to do with Rome as Spaghetti-Os. On the other hand, it isn’t quite as artificial as Kovi’s “No Brake Girls” and another segment called “Bon Appetit.” Both of these scenes are two-couple affairs. In Private movies, that means the girls rarely if ever touch each other and sooner or later one of them will be abandoned in order to squeeze in the obligatory double-penetration shots. Christina gets the duty in Kovi’s scene and Michelle Wild in “Bon Appetit.”
Little Al takes Adamo’s set design several steps further in “Restricted Area.” Starring Claudia Claire as a futuristic nympho and Robby Blake as her virtual playmate, the scene includes convincing computer animation and something even more rarely seen in porn: synergy. Sex and set design combine to create a uniquely integrated science-fiction fantasy. Of course, sex is sex, but Claudia’s dominant approach suits the premise, as does the rest of her performance. Early in the scene, Claudia humps the back of a chair briefly but effectively and later she turns sidesaddle on Blake, skewing the cowgirl positions just enough to give the sex a slightly different look and feel.
Youngman & Walton’s “Wild Wheel Sex” is low-tech but equally imaginative in its own way. A girl/girl scene in the tradition of those soft-focus, softcore lesbian fantasies that couldn’t possibly excite because they were too artificial, the directors here use artificiality not to conceal but to enhance the sex. Two pretty blonde girls drive their car onto what is clearly a movie set—park bench, starry backdrop, and all. The suggestiveness of the set lends the scene a romanticism few girl/girl scenes can match. An extended opening with the girls—Brigitte and Sandy—dressed in pastel tops and blue jeans, kissing, smiling, and enjoying themselves completes the mood. True, the sex is too brief, but the scene shines nonetheless.
Also included on the disc are behind the scenes segments on “Without Limits 2,” “Guns and Rough Sex,” and “The Sexterminators.” Bonus materials include cast bios, a photo gallery, and production notes. Private certainly knows how to package its product.
I don’t know if the relative freedom of having to produce only a single scene rather than an entire film encourages Private’s directors to take risks or try something new; I do know that in this case, something new is what we get. For that, I’ll even settle for 25%.
