Synopsis:
William Reuter (David Perry) and Elysabeth (Angelica Miraï) are searching through a forbidden ruin in Egypt when they run across a tablet bearing hieroglyphics. After they evade the police, they go in search of the treasure that the tablet describes, but this is just the beginning of their adventures.

Audio/Video:
All three films in the Pyramid Trilogy are presented with a dubbed English 2.0 Stereo track. This is one of the old style Private dubbed tracks which I don't care for that much. The way these tracks are composed, the original language track is still intact and a narrator comes on at certain points to let you know what is going on. Unfortunately, all of the original dialog is lost and you just get a brief summation of what is going on. The dubbing is clear at all times and easy to understand. Also presented on the disc is the original French 2.0 Stereo track. Private has also included dubbed 2.0 Stereo tracks for Spanish, Italian, and German and has included Dutch subtitles for the discs.

All of the films in The Pyramid Trilogy are presented in the widescreen ratio of 1.78:1, which appears to be the original aspect ratio for the films. Unfortunately, the discs are non-anamorphic, but that is not surprising given the year they were authored. As for the picture itself, it is a far cry from the picture quality of Private's discs today. The picture is soft and looks much older than the film really is. There is fine grain exhibited throughout the presentation as well. The color levels are good and the picture is far from being horrible.

Special Features:
Private has included a few extras on the discs for your viewing enjoyment. As for the extras that vary on the three discs. The first one is “Postcards from Egypt,” which is a photo gallery. On the first and third disc, the gallery contains 23 stills from both the films and the production end of the film, that you flip through and on the second disc, the gallery contains 25 stills from both the films and the production end of the film that you flip through. There is an Interview with Pierre Woodman, which has three parts spanning all three discs. The interview covers Pierre's film making both on the Pyramid films and his film making in general.

There are also some extras that are repeated on all three discs. The original trailer for the Pyramid trilogy is included on the three discs. There is a short piece called “The Pyramid Billboard,” which contains 14 stills that you flip through that show the construction of the billboard on Sweetzer Ave, in Los Angeles, California, advertising The Pyramid. The final extra on the discs is The “Private Girls,” which contains an interview, two photo galleries and a sex scene for Tania Russof, Krisztina, Nikky Andersson, Gabriella Bond, and Silvie.

Contained on the sampler disc are 24 previews for various recent Private films. There is also disc information for many of Private's recent films, too many to count, with box pictures, cast listings, disc specs, etc. There are also three bonus sex scenes contained on the disc to give the viewer a flavor of Private's films. The first scene, from Sex Survivors, is twelve minutes long and features Aliza, Joakim, and Philippe Dean. The scene takes place on the beach and starts out with Aliza giving Joakim and Philippe blow jobs. The action then turns to a vaginal sex/blow job combo before switching over to just vaginal sex. The scene then moves into the anal sex before Aliza jerks off one of the males and the other jerks himself off. The second scene, from The Private Gladiator, is twelve minutes long and features Toni Ribas and Rita Faltoyano. The inclusion of Private Presents DVD Sampler 6 is nice, but the pack would have been better if the fourth disc had been composed of extras dealing with the three Pyramid films that hadn't been included on the individual discs. Things like an extensive making of the trilogy feature, more on filming in prohibited areas, etc.

DVD-ROM Special Features:
Contained on the sampler disc there are a few DVD-ROM extras. There is the internet activated DVD Catalog, which gives a listing of Private's DVDs available along with disc information and screen shots for some titles. There is also the PC Bonus, which is nine different Private movie theme wall paper for your Windows PC.

Navigation:
There are a total of 19 chapters available for The Pyramid Trilogy. The movies themselves span both sides of three DVD-10s. There are six chapters available for the first and second disc and seven chapters available for the third disc. The first disc has the chapters evenly split with three on both sides, the second disc has four chapters on the first side and two on the second side and the third disc has five chapters on the first side and two on the second side. The chapters on all of the discs are identified by a video clip from the scene that they go to. Given the style of the film, the chapters are acceptable, but could be much better. There is a time code for the feature films encoded on the discs.

General Review:
The Pyramid Trilogy, consisting of The Pyramid, The Pyramid 2, and The Pyramid 3, is the first super production from Private Pictures. The series is a plot based serial where there is no resolution to the film until the end of the third part and at the end of the rest of the parts you are just left hanging. As far as the plot goes, it starts out great in the first part making those who enjoy following a plot interested in seeing the second part but then slows down for the second part, focusing mostly on the sex scenes. In the third part, the plot picks back up and brings you to a focal point before taking a huge turn and ruining the end of the film. Normally this wouldn't disappoint me so much, but Private put a lot of work into this film and I was actually looking forward to seeing how it ended.

The biggest complaint that I have about the film is the dubbing technique that Private used for the film. This film utilizes Private's original dubbing technique where the original language track is left in the film and a narrator speaks at important points in the film to fill the viewer in on what is going on. So, you will hear a good five minutes of dialog in the film but only get a quick line from the narrator that obviously doesn't cover everything that is being said. This technique does detract from the movie slightly, but not enough to ruin the viewing experience and to irritate unsuspecting viewers.

The sex in the film is hot and definitely makes the trilogy worth watching. The cast, both male and female look good and although with the dubbing technique used, their acting ability is hard to discern, their ability to create a hot scene is obvious. The sex scenes are top notch in the first two films and slightly above average in the third. The sex scenes are long and on the nastier side, so viewers that like shorter scenes or tame sex will want to skip this series. The sexual themes in the film are oral, vaginal and anal sex with lesbianism, female masturbation, DP, male masturbation, titty fucking, pussy fingering and an orgy scene. For viewers that care about condom use, there are no condoms used in the film.

Part of what raises this film above the rest of what is out there is the locations and sets that are used. Exterior locations were shot in Egypt with noticeable landmarks in the background of some of the scenes. Their presence helps to create the mood in the film and allows the viewer to watch a porn film that doesn't look like everything else on the market. The indoor sets are well done as well. Although the chamber of La déese's tomb is slightly disappointing, the entry way makes up for it. I don't know if these sets were created for the film or if they were found, but either way, they definitely enhance the film.

The Scenes:

Parting Thoughts:
As far as adult films go, The Pyramid trilogy is a good set combining high production values, hot sex and a decent story. The only problem that I have with the trilogy is the ending is a complete let down. If you like plot driven adult entertainment, this is the way to pick up the trilogy as it gives you all three films, plus a sampler disc, for one lower price. Viewers that don't like a plot or don't want to see some country side scenery will want to pass on this title. For all others, this trilogy is highly recommended.
