review from 5/7/2005:
"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" I really haven't been able to watch porn for a while, but I made the exception with this, and probably later today, Scorpio Rising. So, was Sextet any good? Well... The Movie: It's hard to make a clear judgement on Sextet, since I still don't know the purpose of the movie. The basic plot is this: Paul Thomas and Tawny and everyone are in Budapest making a movie about a girl who got an inheritence. There are vampires in that movie. The thing is, the vampires play no real part in the real world plot until THE very end, and the plot of the movie within the movie doesn't really make much sense. Still... most people aren't going to be watching the movie for the plot. The sex is good all around. You have two girl group scenes, a guy/girl/girl scene (with no pop shot), and five guy/girl scenes. So, there is a lot of bang for your buck. All the scenes are good, but not to extreme. There are no real stand out scenes, but no real duds either. [read the full review]

The Little Details Running Time: 85 min. Production Date: 3 / 20 / 2003 Director: Paul Thomas Cast: Kira Kener, Lezley Zen, Reina Leone, Roxanne Hall, Sharon Wild, Alec Metro, Dale DaBone, and Nick Manning The Short Story Initial Expectations: PT can be very hit or miss for me, but with the female cast he's lined up for this one I can't help but have very high expectations! Initial Reaction: It might not have long sex scenes, but it's very well done. Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting emotion and an artistic eye Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting long sex scenes The Technical Stuff Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done for a movie that's shot on film. The audio is very clear and well balanced, without a hint of background noises or problems. The video is shot on film, which means there's some noticeable grain, but it's very well lit with a feeling that the camera man knows just what they're going for the entire movie. Music: The music is very reminiscent of a mainstream movie. [read the full review]

review from 3/24/2005:
"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" So, I bought this movie not expecting much. I haven't really been impressed with Kira Kener in the past, and the back cover really didn't tell me much. Yet... I found myself intrigued with the movie. So, was it a waste of money? The Movie: I was very impressed with Les Bitches. The direction, acting, story, and sex are all very tight. I would have to say this is up there with HeartBreaker in terms of quality, and Paul Thomas really has some interesting little touches in the movie. The movie follows Kira Kener, Roxanne Hall, and Lezley Zen, the three bitches. Each woman has a seperate story that get pulled together by the men in their lives. This does create a slightly disjointed story. Still, each character is very fleshed out, and I felt that the story focused on each character as much as it should. There is less a plot, as there are simple characters heading towards their downfall. Kira plays a woman who is so obsessed with herself that the first time we see her she is masturbating to a mirror. review from 3/15/2005:
"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" This is a fairly big title for Vivid, with all the contract girls, including Jenna, on display here, and with Paul Thomas directing... how could it go wrong? The Movie: The plot is simple. Paul Thomas and Evan Stone are producing a big budget, mainstream movie that features hardcore sex, and they think the Vivid girls would be the best possible performers. Lets cut to the sex. Each girl has a sex scene, with Tawny getting two, and then there is one big lesbian orgy. This is kind of like a Where the Boys Aren't, but with b/g scenes. The best scenes in this film belong to Sunrise and Tawny. Tawny has a boy girl scene with the pool boy, and she has just enough nastiness in her to make the scene stand out. Then she has a girl/girl scene with Jenna that turned out really good. Sunrise has a b/g scene with Chris Cannon, and the scene turned out really hot, although not very nasty. It has a kind of erotic quality to it. The scene is done in the shadows, and turned out really well. The Briana scene was hot. The key word there is was. [read the full review]

Initial Reaction: Its well done, but has some definite faults. Who Should Watch It : Anybody who wants a lot of plot and kinkiness Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a lot of sex The Technical Stuff Audio /Video Quality: The audio is okay. Its nicely balanced, but there are a few places where it doesnt synch. Part of me thought it might be Thomas trying to be a little more artistic because its done almost as a voiceover, but even if he was it just didnt work. The movie was shot on film, so there is a fair amount of grain. Yes, as happens so often with Vivids films the grain does take over the video. [read the full review]

review from 1/24/2005:
"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" I have had two experiences with Vivid Video. This is my second. I have to say, if they released more movies like this, I would buy them a lot more often. The Movie: Normally I talk about the sex and the plot seperate, but it's very hard to do that with this film because both are so tied together. The basic story is of a fairly nerdy, yet attractive young man who becomes obsessed with a masseuse. The story is simple, and yet, because the entire cast is great in their roles, it feels so much deeper. The script is very strong, the direction is very proffesional, and the acting is top notch. Now, I know Jenna is on the cover, but this isn't really her movie. The movie actually belongs to her real life husband, who plays the lead nerd. He carries this movie, and does an amazing job. I was very suprised. This is a hard movie for me to call a porno because, while the sex is graphic and very hot, it really is more because you are invested in the characters that you are watching. "A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" I've been kind of on a Paul Thomas kick lately, so I thought I would check out one of his lesser known titles. Now I know why this is one of his lesser known titles. The Movie: I'm going to keep this pretty short, and not do a scene by scene. All the sex is decent, but if you are a fan of anyone in the cast, then you can probably find better stuff. Everything here is very middle of the road. The plot of the movie is this: Savanna and Dale use to be a big deal porn couple. Savanna has moved on to Lee Stone, and Dale just hasn't moved on. Dale sees the light though when the company they work for says that both of them have to perform in a scene together again, since they both owe the scene for their contracts. So, now Dale is trying to get Savanna back, but there is also Dru, who wants Dale. Who will end up with who? My response to the plot above is... who cares. The plot is really jumpy, and very oddly handled. Everything sounds pretty straight forward, and all the acting is top notch, but the editing is WAY off. [read the full review]

review from 11/27/2005:
Ironically, I got "Jamie Loves Jeff" off the poor review of another critic. Everything he hated about the movie actually made me interested in seeing it, and now I wished I would've listened to him instead. "Jamie Loves Jeff" is an incredibly amateurish looking early Paul Thomas vid. As in many of Thomas' early movies, it looks like it has been shot and edited by a high school student, with Grade Z acting and a script, which even by porno standards sucks. The "story" involves around a high school reunion. Jamie (Jamie Summers) and Jeff (Jeff Stryker) were high school sweethearts who have moved on with their lives. Jamie is married to a dorky lawyer (Tom Byron) and Jeff is married to a ditzy housewife (Megan Leigh, possibly one of the worst actresses ever in the business). At the reunion, Jamie and Jeff get back together (we get a lame montage with Jamie going down a slide and playing in a park with Jeff before the sex scene), while Tom gets it on with Megan and Nikki Knights. This is much more exciting than Jeff and Jamie's boring sex scene, which we sadly get two of. [read the full review]

"Jeff, don't get so rough", says Megan. Come on, Megan, a little more conviction. Jeff Stryker playing macho is, how can I phrase this, a must-see. Dynamite. His hair never moves. review from 4/6/2005:
"A Gay Man's Take on Straight Porn" This is going to be a quikie review of a very enjoyable movie. The Movie: Imagine a movie like American Pie, but with hardcore sex, and all the kids in college. You would have Debbie Does Dallas: The Revenge. I was very pleased with how well handled this movie was. The comedy was funny, the sex was hot (especially the threesome with Lezley Zen, a guy with a dick that resembled a beer can, and his not so hot wife. Lezley made the scene hot). I'll focus on the sex a bit more. Everyone in this movie is a decent to good performer, and they all give their all during the sex scenes. I really can't think of any duds, and all the sex is pretty much even. There are no scenes that I would say were fast forwardable. Sunrise has a scene with Chris Canoon, and a threesome with Evan Stone and Olivia DelRio. She also has a lesbian scene with Nicole Sheriden. All her scenes are pretty good. I've heard they are some of her best work. I haven't seen enough of her movies to make that call, but I do have to say, they were good. [read the full review]

review from 5/18/2004:
In a word: Vintage. The gist: It's sort of a love hexagon story, with all sorts of different permutations of the relationships between two families. But the most important thing for a viewer to know is that this is a movie with a heavy emphasis on older women. If you're a barely-legal fetishist, stay the hell away. If you like the idea of experienced ladies such as Sharon Kane and Rebecca Bardoux taking center stage in a plot-heavy film, this is your flick. There aren't many others like it. Plot synopsis: Mike Horner and Sharon Kane own an underwear factory, and Michael J. Cox is their heir. Cox is in love with Ava Vincent, who lives in a trailer with her mom, Rebecca Bardoux, a woman of questionable morals who has a past with Horner. Kane doesn't approve of Vincent because of that past, and because of Vincent's lesser socioeconomic status. Horner seems paternally fond of Vincent, but Kane is dominant in their relationship, and he meekly accedes to her views. [read the full review]

REVIEW "If You Only Knew" Starlets: * Synopsis * Taylor Hayes discovers she pregnant, but at this point in her marriage, her husband (Joey Ray) seems to be indifferent to her. In the morning, he's much more absorbed in the newspaper than Taylor. She's invisible except when she is serving him breakfast. Taylor can't find the right moment to break the news to him and feels upset about the distance between them. When Taylor tries to make a connection, Joey is clueless to her cues. Enter old college buddy "Jerry" played by Dale Debone. In college DeBone and Ray were a couple of wild and crazy guys. In the years since Ray's character has settled down, but DeBone's character is still a free spirit. DeBone still smokes pot, deals drugs, drinks like a fish, throws crazy parties, beds as many women as possible and avoids anything resembling traditional family life like the plague. DeBone is disappointed to see that Ray has changed so much and tells him that his current life is a joke. Despite their obvious differences, Ray lets his old friend stay with him. review from 1/22/2003:
I dont mind that Paul Thomas seems to think porn scenes are too longmany of them arebut in Believe It or Not 2 the director goes too far in the other direction: most of the scenes are too short. This is a 70-minute film, and each of its five sex scenes is preceded by an interview, the gist of which is dramatically fleshed out as the scene begins. It doesnt leave a lot of time for the sex. Well, at least it never gets boring. The films conceit is that only three of its five stories are true; the discs last chapter reveals which are fact and which fiction. (I got three right.) The idea works because the storytellers are porn stars and therefore just about anything seems possible. A couple having sex on a pool table in a crowded bar? A porn star screwing the security guard after signing autographs in a video store? Why not? If we believe this film, the porn-star stereotype was honestly come by; nothing in this film is so far out that it strains credulity. The scene that comes closest to doing so, however, is the films least appealing scene. [read the full review]

Initial Reaction: Although its not great whacking material, it is a well done adult film. Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting porn with an extremely mainstream movie feel Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a straightforward porno without much artistic expression Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very clear and well balanced, without even a hint of background noise. The feature was shot on film, so it has a much more grainy look than most features shot on video. Its treated pretty well here, but the grain is still quite noticeable. Beyond that, and with the exception of a couple soft focus problems, its great. [read the full review]

review from 5/13/2002:
I recommend Fade to Black to anyone who likes to watch an adult film for more than just the fucking. For those who also enjoy a story with their porn, this is a very rewarding film and definitely a must see. The sex is slightly harder in places than some couples might like and probably not hard enough for the fans of nasty sex. This is definitely not a film for anyone that hates a plot to get in the way of their porn. If this film sounds good to you, buy it, you'll probably find yourself watching it more than once. Bad Wives 2 Directed by Paul Thomas Overall Impression Generally I am not a huge fan of Vivid titles, but every now and then I give one a try because they do have some good looking talent and they surprise me from time to time with some good stuff. This is certainly one of the better Vivid feature I have seen as of late. The cast is very respectable, with some great performances from Raylene, Ryan Connor, April, and Kylie Ireland. The reason this DVD is not getting a higher score from me is because, even though there is some real heat generated in some of these scenes, it was never maintained for very long, because if bad editing decisions and poor camera work. It really is a shame in my opinion because you can see that there are some excellent performances here, but they are not captured as well as they should be. Another sore spot for me was how grainy the picture looked. The audio is sharp. Plot I actually payed a little attention to the plot in this onw surprisingly. [read the full review]

Marissa is an interesting story filled with some pretty hot and some wild sex. Marissa (Cassidey) is the fan of an aging Sax Jazz man who has not performed in public for a decade. She convinces him to play at her club and with her help after a rough start he rises back to the top, but it is a wild ride along the way filled with Love, infidelity and disaster. A romantic film with a little spice this would be a great starter couples film for the more adventurous. A Gorgeous cast filled with some Beautiful women and handsome men as well as a good soundtrack top this film off. The only thing I disliked about this film was in the editing. The sex scenes often seem choppy as they keep flip flopping between positions. [read the full review]

Screenwriter Nick (Randy Spears) has been having a pretty good day until he arrives home to find his wife, Faye (Sydnee Steele) screwing his pal, Mark (Bobby Vitale) in FACADE (2000, Vivid) that is directed by Paul Thomas and well-shot by Ralph Parfait. Nick calmly makes a few phone calls then quickly informs the cheating couple that there's going to be a party at the house that night that includes Mark's wife Pam (Inari Vachs in a terrific performance) and a few others from the film industry. The rest of the film details what happens at the party in this terrific feature with one major issue that detracts. Condoms. Widescreen. About 100 minutes. [read the full review]

Debbie Does Iowa is the new feature from Vivid I just watched. The movie's lead role of Debbie is played by the delicious looking Sky. The roles of the cheerleaders are played by Blair Segal, Vivian Valentine, Temptress and Tiger Lilly in a non sex role. Sky is on the prarie this time to help a squad try to make it to the big Sugar Bowl. Tyce Bune does a good job as acting as the father of two football players and teaching Debbie about the town. Our first scene features Bobby Vitale with a local hooker played by Alexandra Nice. Her orange dress in the scene looked great on her and plenty of heat with these actors including missionary and anal but no facial unfortunately. After that Sky has a blistering three way but no dp is involved here but she does take a faceful of cum. Next Sky arrives on the small town meeting her only cheerleader played by Vivan Valentine. She finds blair on the water tower with her boyfriend have a very hot sexual encounter. [read the full review]

* DIRECTOR: Paul Thomas. * DURATION: ยป90mins. * STARRING: Aletta, Daniella, Fernanda, Genevieve, Judyh, Kate Moore, Kathlin Zombor & Taylor Hayes. Jekyll & Hyde is a Vivid feature classic starring Taylor Hayes, Julian and a lot of European women. Like many classics, this film falls completely flat on its face. Its difficult for me to express my disappointment, but Ill try anyway. Of the female cast, the only name I knew (and the only reason I bought this DVD) was Taylor Hayes. Still, it was Vivid so I should have known better should have known far better. Sigh. First up, the plot. Jekyll & Hyde has been lauded for its story. Personally, I found the story uninteresting, even off-putting, and it unquestionably interfered with the sex. Not only that, but there were virtually two stories going on at once, independent of each other. Taylor and Julian had a plotline that was semi-interesting while the European (Hungarian?) cast were totally involved in their own non-English drama. Clearly, a lot was put into production values and Taylor and Julians acting were good. [read the full review]

"A Gay Man's take on Straight Porn" I really had liked Paul Thomas's "Heart Breaker" and thought this one sounded interesting. Was it what I expected? Well... The Movie: Normally I would go through the sex scenes, and the plot, but the thing is, the sex is pretty constant, and the plot really is the important part here. So, I'm going to treat this more as a maintstream review. The basic premise of this movie is that Inari Vachs and Bobby Vitale are couple. They start the movie as very wild and drugged out, having sex in front of Bobby's porn models, and fucking other people in front of each other. Things are pretty hot and nasty between the two. That is until Thanksgiving. Kobi is having it at her house, and we are introduced to one more important character, Doug (I forget the performer's name). Things are going well, although Bobby seems to really want to trip Kobi up in her search for a sober life. Well, he fails, and Bobby, Inari, and Dougy end up leaving. [read the full review]

"Bobby Sox" is a type of porn film that goes under the category: One of Paul Thomas' worth watching films. I say that since P.T. is one of the most hit-and-miss directors in the business. But when he's good, man is he good. This movie, along with the original "Masseuse" will go down in my head as masterpieces. The Plot: One fine spring day many years ago in the countryside of well, I dont know where the hell this takes place. I suppose it doesnt matter. Anyhow, John (our hero) is walking through the woods one day and comes across a young couple without being seen. Like most young couples in porn movies, theyre just starting to get naked in time for us to catch the full effect of them scromping away on the forest floor. The young couple continue with their lovemaking while John spies on them from the bushes. Lo and behold, the woman is aware of Johns presence! Naturally, she does what any young woman does when caught in the act of illicit lovemaking by some stranger she gives him sensuous looks while she continues to screw her partner. (Okay, this goes completely contrary to my experience. Usually when people know Im watching, they scream and get their clothes on. It must be something in the water at the porn movie sets. Theres too much sex for just one husband to handle. A strong man is needed to help with the chores and theyll churn more than your butter if you stay all night in Country Comfort. Thats really all you need to know for this sort of video. The movie opens with a very vocal Lisa (played by Devon) having an interlude in the woods with some unknown person (The Lover played by Bobby Vitale), while a drifter (John played by Julian) watches in the distance. While the drifter tries to hide himself, it is evident that his presence is known to Lisa. There are multiple angle options during the scene, but it apears that Vivid changes the angles on you automatically so you dont really gain anything by switching cameras.Next, the drifter arrives at the farm looking for a place to stay and a meal to eat. Franco (Herschel Savage) invites him in while Mary fixes him something to eat. [read the full review]

The Plot: Ah... Debbie. I grew up with the original Debbie Does Dallas, and I'm sure everyone remembers the wonderful sense of innocence gone awry that the first film produced. Well, you can forget all of that, because Debbie has been reincarnated in the form of Lexus, who looks more like a porn star than a cheerleader. Go figure. Clueless and innocence are not synonymous. But Debbie movies have plot! And what a plot it is, filled with determination, perseverance, and triumph of good over evil. Ah, who am I kidding? It's a porn plot, it doesn't have to make sense. Debbie's car breaks down while hauling her friends around town, and she takes it to the mechanic for him to work his magic on the poor Pontiac. Well, he pronounces it deceased, and Debbie spies the perfect replacement: an aging white & purple schoolbus. Debbie has this wild vision of her and her cheerleading friends riding around town, partying wherever they go, and generally getting into naked mischief. [read the full review]

Debbie 99 is the first adult title I ever watched on DVD. At the time I was very impressed. After seeing several dozen more my opinion of Debbie 99 has slipped a bit. The cover is what really caught my attention with this one. Lexus is gorgeous on the cover and looks just as good in the movie. The rest of the cast is fairly typical in looks. This movie was obviously filmed at the same time as Debbie Does Dallas - The Next Generation. The performers are essentially the same. The scenery and locations are the same. The transfer quality is very high. The multiple angles are typical Vivid, almost worthless. The sex in Debbie 99 is mediocre. I loved the plot and the acting in the mob-themed Paul Thomas picture. Vince Vouyer and Alexandra Silk were especially convincing with their New Jersey accents, but everyone seemed to be trying to stay in character. Unfortunately, the forces of evil at Vivid cut this film to ribbons before releasing it on DVD. The film was originally 131 minutes on VHS, and the DVD runs 84 minutes. You don't need to be a math major to see that more than 45 minutes have been cut from the movie, including two entire scenes. It really should be callled outtakes from "Mobster's Wife." On the flipside, there are two versions of a behind the scenes featurette, together totalling almost an hour, but in no way does the behind the scenes featurette compensate for not having the entire film on DVD. For some unknown reason, the people at Vivid cut up all of th 1990s Paul Thomas features before releasing them on DVD. I don't know which is worse, not getting the whole movie or knowing what enormous contempt the people at Vivid have for me (and you), their customer. But they are the contemptible ones. The second DVD I bought, and the first one from big name Vivid. Right off, you notice the difference between this DVD and one from a smaller company like VXI - tons and tons of extra features. Even the quality on the DVD is higher, a direct result of Vivid's production values. Multiple angles show off the advancement of the DVD technology, as you can switch to different views of the action. We'll start with the good points - the women look great in this video, especially Kobe Tai, the star of the flick, and the beautiful Deva, especially when they engage in the final and hottest scene of the video. The dancing between Deva and Jacklyn Lick is also tremendous, and even better, this scene features multiple angles. Ever wanted to see a lapdance from a different angle? Go right ahead. It's fun! Now the bad part. The rest of the scenes are..well, not nearly as good. They consist mainly of Kobe peeping in on couples twice, being caught once and dragged into the middle of a threesome. The Plot: Okay, I have to hand it to Vivid. Rarely, if ever, do they produce a movie that doesn't have a plot. Or at least a semblance of a plot. Okay, maybe a hint of a plot. True, the plot's don't always make sense, but you at least get some motivation behind why Actress A is working her way through Actors B, C, D and the sheep in the corner. Our plot today revolves around a fictitious show similar to Late Night with Old Comedian that you may watch yourself. We start with Steven St. Croix, playing himself, having a lot of fun with Alexa, a waitress he picked up in a bar. After having very intimate relations, Stevie discovers that the new-age bit of fluff that he brought home last night has been talking to her crystals too long. See, she and Steven have only just met last night... in this life. Ah, their souls are immortal and they have been meant for each other since time began. And if Steven doesn't like that arrangement, she'll just have to kill him and wait until the next time they meet up again. Okay. [read the full review]

However, Vivid has done a horrible job with their DVD release of Bad Wives by using what they are calling the director's cut of the film that has excised more of the film then is included on the disc. The result is an absolute hack job that barely even resembles the original film. Vivid promised a Collector's Edition release of the movie with the uncut movie on it over a decade ago that never materialized. Sadly, this reviewer can't recommend this hack job of a modern classic. Unfortunately I did not read andyblake's review before purchasing. I had rented the VHS video and it was fantastic 4.5 stars with outstanding scenes from Tricia Devereaux(love the glasses) and Missy. So I had purchased the DVD for a permanent copy expecting better picture and sound. What VIVID did to the DVD is just wrong. To get their multiangle shots they just cut up the scene. None of the angles are the original full scene. Let me keep this simple. DO NOT BUY THE DVD. By all means get the VHS copy, it was great. Message to VIVID You have permanently lost a customer. I will never purchase/rent a VIVID DVD in the future. Multiangle must have the original scene intact on angle 1, other angles can be used if additional footage is available. [read the full review]

* DIRECTOR: Paul Thomas. * DURATION: See below. * STARRING: Dyanna Lauren, Melissa Hill, Missy, Stephanie Swift & Tricia Devereaux. Bad Wives is a Vivid feature with an impressive cast, and is also considered a porn classic. Unfortunately, like most classics its not everything its cracked up to be. Disenchanted with their mundane lives, housewives Dyanna and Melissa try something different, but not everything goes to plan thanks to supermarket wild-child Steven St. Croix ... It seemed fairly run-of-the-mill to me more elaborate, well-filmed and well-acted than a normal porn film, but nothing spectacular. In particular, a number of non-sex parts dragged out and I thought the ending was a disappointment (but I wont spoil it). The sex itself was pretty good for Vivid, and there was quite a lot of it; the cast was good too. I thought Id point out andyblakes review, for his warning about the excessive cutting of the movie. I havent seen the VHS version so I cant comment on whats been lost from the original movie, but this might explain why I wasnt tremendously impressed. Something to be aware of at any rate. Overall, I found Bad Wives a fairly mundane feature. [read the full review]

review from 3/17/2004:
Im a big fan of Kira Kener (the chic on the cover) and thats why I bought this movie only for her. The movie was described as the first Miss Kener adult movie and also as her first movie with anal scene. Wow, what a babe I said. Moreover Ive read some interview with her from that era, and when she was asked what is her favorite sex position, she answered that its anal. I said wow, what an enthusiasm one more time and couldnt wait to see her in action. For those whore not familiar with Kira. Shes an Asian looking (in fact shes only partly Asian, she has also some Norvegian origins) hot babe with fucking pretty face, big (DD) boobs, great ass and killer legs. In short great looking body. What do you want more, huh? Plot: As in any adult film pretty simple. A guy is addicted to having sex with nurses. Hes being caught and have to go to take some experimental de-toxic therapy.
