The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done for a movie that's shot on film. The audio is very clear and well balanced, without a hint of background noises or problems. The video is shot on film, which means there's some noticeable grain, but it's very well lit with a feeling that the camera man knows just what they're going for the entire movie.

Music: The music is very reminiscent of a mainstream movie. It's very nicely balanced with the rest of the audio and varies slightly throughout the movie.

Disc Complaints: There's a ton of commercials before the main menu that you can't skip past. I have yet to find anybody who doesn't mind this, so I'm deducting a half point from the overall score because of it.

Menus: The main menu nicely blends a little animation with the boxcover for a simple but classy look. The chapter menu is pretty good, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for it.

The Feature

There all around, bitches. Les Bitches tells the story of three of them who with their partners, finds their lives mingling. Roxanne the rich bitch loving off her motivational speaker hubby's money. Lezley, the white trash bitch who wants something more than her blue collar man Dale (who's busy working at Roxanne's house) can give her. Scene 1 – Lezley Zen and Dale DaBone; Roxanne Hall and Alec Metro; Kira Kener

Scene 3 – Roxanne Hall

Les Bitches is a surprisingly hot and well done movie. I'll readily admit that Paul Thomas is very hit or miss for me. When the majority of your sex scenes seem to last five minutes, it's hard to build up much heat and the flow often feels interrupted. Here, however, those things rarely interfered with the action for me. Yes, the editing was sometimes a bit rough for my tastes, but the heat in the scenes was enough that it didn't throw me out of each scene. Sexually, there's also a very nice variety with every person doing a fantastic job. I'd have a very hard time choosing which girl gave the best performance, and at the same time, the worst performance. The story was also very nicely done, and managed to blend a few simple mergings into something much bigger. Paul Thomas might be hit or miss with me, but Les Bitches hit pretty solidly with me.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Foot Work, The New Girl, The Villa, and Hard Candy. The photo gallery for Kira lasts just over two minutes with about nine seconds per good looking full screen photo. The movie gallery lasts just over a minute with about six seconds per good looking full screen photo. Supposedly there are multiple angles, but I quickly gave up on them when they obviously came across as not being true multiple angles. There's also a bio of Kira Kener, bonus scenes, a behind the scenes featurette, and a positions room which lets you see specific sex acts from the movie.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts just over nine minutes. Paul Thomas starts things out talking about where his movies come from, his love of foreign films, and a bit about the movie and the people involved with it. Lezley chats about the movie and her hate of cold water before things move to “Martha” commenting on the movie. Kira is next, who chats about her life before porn, happiness, and working with her partners. Roxanne Hall is next, who talks about being offended by nothing before things cut to her photo shoot. After a little more talk about the cast and crew, the featurette fades out. This is an okay behind the scenes featurette. It came off as a bit short and fairly hacked up, with PT's interview almost getting cut after every sentence. I was also disappointed that there were only three cast interviews, which is all the more disappointing when you have people who are always so much fun on set like Steven St. Croix. This isn't a bad featurette for the length, but I would have much rather had more time here than one of the bonus segments.

Bonus Scene 1 – Kira Kener and Eric Masterson

The first bonus scene comes from David Stanley's Frosted. Kira and Eric get at it as soon as they hit their room, with Eric stripping off her pants and his shirt and bending her over to go right to fucking her from behind over the bed. This is a hot scene that could have been much hotter with smoother editing.

Bonus Scene 3 – Kira Kener and Randy Spears

Paul Thomas's Kira at Night arrives for the next bonus scene. Currently, many of Vivid's DVDs can be found online for between about $12 and $25 with several stores offering them for under $20. This one's worth the money. The sex is hot and nicely blends with the plot. The technical aspects are well done for a movie that's shot on film, and there's some okay effort put into the extras. This is a pretty good DVD.
