He brings out the best in his actors and always has a storyline that makes you think. He even co-wrote this feature with Maddy Barton. The filming of this in black & white save for one strategic bit of color that is added at the very end. Hank Hoffman enjoyed some well earned recognition for the cinematography and the movie as a whole scored multiple AVN Nominations and wins a couple months back. The cast for this one was vital led by Avi Love who is a revelation in the title role. If you are not familiar with this young lady you will be by its end and you will want to seek out her other work of which there is a fine selection. Seth Gamble was also instrumental in this movies success and you had fine supporting turns as well from Tom Byron and Reagan Foxx. So the obvious first thing to talk about with this movie, is the choice for the black and white instead of color. This is obviously the most polarizing topic of this movie either you are going to like it, or your going to hate it. Think the same discussion for subtitled or dubbed versions of foreign movies. For me, being a big movie guy, I side on the B&W and subtitled side, so I am ok with this, just going to take a little getting used to. There are moments where it really enhances the scene, but also a few moments where the action is lost in shadows. The next big topic is Avi Love, who had gotten lots of buzz for her acting skills in this one, and perhaps has even been considered a muse by another director, whose last big muse was Remy Lacroix and they made some wonderful magic together. And as an added bonus, we get some anal and even take the step into some DP action, so it's almost considered gonzo lite in my books. Unfolding is a romance story of a husband and wife finding their inner sexual beings through a sexual journey with each other. When it comes to the AVN Awards and the porn parody category, it's pretty much a lock that Axel Braun will win. For the comic book nerds/geeks, he's pretty much taken the whole erotic fan fiction genre and brought it to life for our pleasure. And that aspect is where he really shines, although sometimes the sex scenes fall a little flat for me. It is wrong or unfair to want some explosive and energetic scenes no matter what genre it is, I do think that the Romi and Ramon scene was the standout and highlight for me. But when it comes to parodies, I think you are more interested in the story, set up and Easter eggs that lead up to the sex between some of your favorite characters. Some major kudos to Seth for his great Ryan Reynolds impression, a definite highlight, but I know Axel puts in some work determining who is going to be in his movies. After some time away she was able to return and quickly regain her place as one of the top performers in the industry. I believe this was one of the first big dramatic style showcases for the Vixen brand, with many more to follow, including Being Riley with another legend, Riley Reid, doing a few firsts for her career. As I stated in the review, this was a Kayden Kross project, but was still heavily influenced by the Lansky style, not the usual style dealing with shadows and lights that you see, especially with the Deeper series. Perhaps if I had reviewed this when it first came out, it would have ended up with a score closer to 5 stars, but when you compare it to stuff that we are getting now, it''s still walking away with a solid 4 stars.
