Taboo 9 (Metro) review summaries:
fu_q's
Upon uncovering his wife's flagrantly adulterous ways, Jamie Gillis, an esteemed psychiatrist, succumbs to his own sexual desires and proclivities in "Taboo 9". An overall-good, 1991 release from Metro and director Alex DeRenzy, this film loosely ties in with prior installments of the series, both with the non-sex presence of Kay Parker, who reprises her earliest role, and also via dizzying flashbacks to prior material (clips). With the incest themes found in previous episodes largely relegated to the clips, this production focuses heavily upon adultery, with a bit of TS and cross-dressing kink thrown in for good measure, as well. While not up to the same level in terms of both storyline and heat as some of its predecessors, this one is still good and certainly worthy of a watch...particularly for fans of the series. When his stunning, blonde wife, Seka, leaves him for the big city, a desperately lonely rancher from New Mexico, Kevin James, heads into town to find her. Of course, what he discovers that she's been up to there (porn) might just end up being a bit more than he can handle. Such is the case in "Sweet Alice", a very good, 1983 release from VCX and director Adele Robbins. [read the full review]

Running Time: 77 min. Production Date: 1979 Director: Svetlana Cast: Jamie Gillis, Bud Wide, Chris Anderson, Nicki Phillips, Serena, Candy Summer, Desiree Cousteau, Amy Leigh, Nancy Suiter, Hillary Summers, and Lisa DeLeeuw Initial Expectations: This has some great performers from the golden age of porn. Hopefully itll live up to its fun premise. Initial Reaction: Although I really hate that the feature was edited, I still really enjoyed it. Who Should Watch It : Anybody who likes natural women and plot with their porn Who Should Avoid It: Raincoaters and anybody who likes more hardcore sex Audio /Video Quality: The audio is normally clear and nicely balanced, although there is a little bit of dubbing. It sounds much better than I would have expected for the age. The video isnt crystal clear, but normally looks as good or better than most TV shows from the same era. There are a few spots where theres a little fuzz or pixelation, but overall its also very good. [read the full review]

Length 78:20 Year 1981 The VCX dvd of HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES is in fullscreen as are most of their dvd's and the picture quality is not too bad on this dvd. It's certainly a step up from their dvd of THE DEVIL IN MISS JONES. The audio is fine and everyone can be understood easily throughout the movie. This movie really deserved some extras and it includes none at all, not even the ones promised on the front cover. VCX should really get with the game and try to get some commentary tracks for their classic dvd releases as the other companies such as VCA and NuTech are doing. The story to this movie is that coach Salinas (Jamie Gillis) is coming back for a reunion with the some teachers he worked with, and a student he had on his football team 5 years earlier. He has changed a lot in the last 5 years, but first we get to see how he was 5 years earlier and it is quite an entertaining view of the trip on the bus of him and his football team to a football game. Vista Valley P.T.A. (NuTech) review summaries:

Vaguely based on the popular song of the time, "Harper Valley PTA," this old-school movie-with-a-plot is about a new teacher (Jessie St. James) and the students and parents of Vista Valley High School. Forget the plot, because like most porn movies it's just a method of setting scenes and it's pretty worthless. The real attraction of this movie is its stars, which reads like a who's who of porn circa 1980. Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay (credited on screen as Lexmax), Juliett Anderson, Kay Parker (on screen as Kay Taylor) Jamie Gillis and John Leslie are all in their prime. By modern standards the scenes are often missing something--the camera doesn't get every little thing the way it does now, and a lot of scenes seem shorter than one might expect. Almost everyone gets only one sex-scene in the movie, including Kay and Juliett, who would become two of porn's biggest stars, and Jessie St. James, the star of the movie. The DVD itself is no-frills. It divides the movie into six chapters, so expect a lot of fast-forwarding if you want to see something in particular. [read the full review]

Old timers will recognize the reference to "Harper Valley P.T.A.," a story song written by Tom T. Hall and recorded by Jeannie C. Riley in 1968. The song went to number one on both the pop and country charts, and later became the concept of a 1978 movie starring Barbara Eden, as well as a short-lived TV series also starring Eden. This film was shot around 1979 or 1980, and it is hot!! Jessie St. James is the star, but there is a lot of good female talent including Dorothy LeMay, Kay parker, and Sharon Kane. This film is surprisingly mean spirited, and some people will be disturbed by depictions of incest (compare the Kane-Gillis coupling in this film with the duo's scene in Michael Ninn's New Wave Hookers, almost 20 years later). The film is plot driven and the sex scenes are typically much shorter than today, but they are very effective. The film was shot on film, and the DVD transfer is very good. The extras are the usual from Nu-Tech, nothing spectacular. [read the full review]

Starring: Jessie St. James, Dorothy LeMay, Sharon Kane, Kay Parker, Juliet Anderson, Brooke West, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, John Seaman Directed By: Anthony Spinelli Inspired, of course, by Harper Valley PTA, Vista Valley PTA puts Jessie St. James in the Barbara Eden role of a new teacher at a troubled small town high school. The original movie was a comedy based on a popular song. This time, we know from where the inspiration comes, but it's not so easy to label this as comedy, melodrama, or anything else. I suppose the term "porn" will have to suffice. Shot in the early 80's, Vista Valley PTA is considered a classic if only for it's age, but God bless NuTech Digital for releasing it despite it's dated look. [read the full review]

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the production of "The Opening of Misty Beethoven", the 1970's adult film classic from director Radley Metzger and VCA. Starring Constance Money as a young prostitute whom the late Jamie Gillis chances upon while plying her trade in a Parisian theater, this flick traces her journey from an erotically uninspired bore to a talk-of-the-town, world-class sexpot. Indeed, under Gillis' tutelage and with his wealthy friend's (Jacqueline Beudant's) fortune, Money transforms from a hapless, young harlot unwilling to suck a dick to a seasoned pro, capable of pleasuring a group of men, turning homosexuals with her charms, and ultimately seducing the most powerful name in men's publishing and his mistress (Gloria Leonard). What do you get when you mix Metzer, a classic play, two very hot actors, and a relatively big budget? You get the best porno movie ever made. Unfortunately, that's not saying very much since most porn movies are extremely bad and being the best of the worst isn't exactly a very good accomplishment. The largest problem with this movie is that the plot was razor thin and extremely fragmented. The flow of the story was continuously interrupted by needless scenes of blowjobs. (Way too many blowjobs in my opinion. Metzer is way too obsessed with blowjobs. The ratio of blowjobs to vaginal sex was something like 10 to 1.) He also liked to add in ridiculous dialogue to the ends of good scenes. I suppose his intention was to break the tension of sexual arousal with some comedy. (Mainstream movies do this all the time like when they add a comedy bit to an action sequence.) This device did not work for this movie because it ended up coming across as being stupid rather than funny which is funny since the play that this movie is based on is actually funny all the way through. NOTE: This is not your typical review. Others have done an excellent job reviewing the content, scenes, performances, etc. of this porn classic. This "review" concerns itself with how the DVD's contents compare with the complete, uncut original release version of the film or an early (before prior self-censorship) VHS version. The Ratings given refer either to the "original" version of the film (Performers, Plot, Sex, etc.) or to the DVD version (Extras, Value, etc.) and are relatively arbitrary. The important info is that which follows. MISTY (ALMOST) INTACT! To paraphrase one of Jamie Gillis lines in the movie, Theyve left alone Misty Beethoven! Theyve left alone Misty Beethoven! After side-by-side, shot-by-shot comparison of the new DVD version of the Henry Paris (Radley Metzger) classic with an old video that appears to have been made from an original release print of the film, only two short shots and the end title appear to be missing from the new DVD. Bad (VCA) review summaries:
Corey Thomas'
"Bad" is probably the weakest John Leslie movie I have seen. Even weak John Leslie is usually better than 90 of the usual porn, but this movie is a true disappointment and deserves it's title. Still I have to say that weak John Leslie films are ten times better than weak Paul Thomas movies. One of the problems of this DVD is that it is so edited down. IAFD lists the original as 82 minutes and the DVD version runs 67. It is obvious that plot elements are missing and at times the movie makes little sense, unless you read reviews of the original VHS tape. The plot concerns a girl named Pat (Iiesha), who is sent to the Attitude Adjustment Center by her parents (Lauren Hall and Jamie Gillis). It is there that she will be under the control of Dr. Deeeeeep (not sure how many E's there are, but you get the point), played by Joey Silvera. Marc Wallice, Tom Byron, Peter North, and others play patients. Supposedly, Wallice convinces Dr. Deeeeeep to hypnotize Pat and then has his way with her. [read the full review]

John Leslie's "Playin' Dirty", which was part of his transition into smaller, more entertaining movies tells the story of Lloyd Dixon (Ron Jeremy), who embezzles $7 million out of his boss (Jamie Gillis). Lloyd is in cahoots with a young woman (Renee Morgan), who also does oral favors for the boss. Jeremy and Morgan are also having an affair and they plan to leave together as soon as the money comes through. Gillis also is the leader of a bike gang (Schwinns, not Harley's)whose members include Joey Silvera, Tom Byron, Heather Torrence, Marc Wallice, Sasha, and the delightfully yummy Selena Steele. Gillis finds out that Lloyd is trying to rob him, and in turns kidnaps Lloyd's wife (Rachel Ashley) as a ransom. This, however, doesn't disturb Lloyd one bit, who despises his wife with a passion. But, however, when Renee pays the gang a visit and gives away her necklace (in which Lloyd hid the combination for the bank vault) in return for information, they are sent on a mission full of erotic and funny delights. This is a compilation of unrelated scenes featuring the late John C. Holmes, and his incredible 13-inch schlong. (This compilation is vastly superior to another John Holmes compilation DVD that I review on this site) Some of the scenes are from Holmes' Johnny Wadd series from the 1970s, directed by Bob Chinn. The plot and acting from the scenes included in this compilation makes me wish that the whole Johnny Wadd series would be rescued from the vaults and re-issued on DVD. I imagine that most of these movies simply no longer exist, which is too bad. A couple of years ago, Bob Chinn tried to re-start the Johnny Wadd series with a different actor. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a market for expensive, plot-driven features with high production values. These types of movies are out-competed by the flood of much cheaper gonzo material that completely dispenses with plot, writing, acting, outdoor shots, indoor sets, etc. [read the full review]

Starring: Amber Lynn, Colleen Brennan, Porsche Lynn, Karen Summer, Lorrie Lovett, Shone Taylor, Jamie Gillis, Joey Silvera, Kevin James Johnathan Younger, Billy Dee. Directed By: Kirdy Stevens There are only a handful of adult films which can easily be called classics. Among them is Kirdy Stevens' Taboo. Despite the modern day Max Hardcores, Rob Blacks, and the other multitudes of directors who dispatch "extreme hardcore" to your local smut shop, Stevens' tales of consentual incest are as controversial now as the day he shot them. In fact, the Taboo series continues on, though it has left its incestuous subject matter far behind. Once though, incest porn was a strange little niche market and it wasn't uncommon to find stories of fathers getting it on with their teenage daughters, teenage sons seducing their mothers, or siblings exploring sexuality together. Does this make you uneasy? Queasy even? Well, I think it's supposed to...a little. Sometime after Taboo 5 this series eliminated the incest angle. [read the full review]

classic connoisseur's
Year: 1985 Length: 86 minutes Even though this is part of the NuTech line of Classic dvd collecion series this is certainly no classic. You might think it is by looking at the cast involved (Harry Reems, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, Amber Lynn) and directed by Robert McCallum, but unfortunately the sex and the storyline to this movie are severely lacking. The plot to this story is supposed to be something similar to that of a soap opera, but I didn't find it to be any more similar to a soap opera than any other porn film I've seen. Basically the problem is that there was no plot at all and this is a problem in a porn film that pretends to have a plot. This movie pretended to have a story line and it had just enough to get in the way but not enough to make any sense, so this is one problem. Either they should have just went wall to wall sex with this one or have developed the story line more fully and made a full feature sex film out of this movie. [read the full review]

This Cal-Vista shot-on-film feature from around 1984 has very little to recommend it. The sex is routine. Even the delightful Janey Robbins, one of the unsung heroines of early porn, is largely wasted. The plot has stewardess Juliet Anderson wanting to be the first female pilot on her airline, with sister Tara Aire trying to help her along. There are alot of shots inside airliner shells, and outside of windows during flights, and pirate shots at airports, but we've seen it all before in better films from that era. This film features an extended mud wrestling scene, so if you can remember the mud wrestling fad of the 1980s, you can date this film. On the bright side, the film quality is excellent, and the transfer to DVD is very good as well. Technically the disc is very good. [read the full review]

Due to the video problems if you are a fan of the film or it sounds like a good movie to you, you probably want to wait and hope that a better version of it gets released in the future. As this is a limited edition release it will eventually leave the market and anther company may re-release a better print of it. If you are still considering purchasing it, I suggest that you rent it first so you can see how bad the video problems are before you purchase so you don't end up disappointed. [read the full review]

I-Candy's DVD release of Insatiable was really well done, with obvious time and attention spent on it. A DVD well worth buying. Now I personally always prefered Insatiable II, so when I saw that I-Candy had released it on DVD I jumped at the chance to buy it. What a mistake. This DVD is almost the exact opposite of the Insatiable DVD release. The menus were obviously quickly thrown together, with a quality so poor that the DVD creators should be embarassed to have their names associated with it (e.g. menu selections indicated by an ugly big handrawn single color red X next to the item). There are no extras to speak of, there's no time code on the movie, and for some reason the movie plays horizontally squished to 50 of it's proper width (imagine the reverse of letterbox) on my Pioneer DVD player, on which I've played hundreds of DVDs and NEVER before seen this effect. And worst of all, the movie is missing LARGE segments from the original release for no percievable reason. [read the full review]

Here is a splendid little classic from 1979, produced by Harold Lime and directed by Robert McCallum. As is usual with "Golden Age" classics, the plot, acting, exterior shots and general production values are outstanding. This flick was shot on location in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. They dont make them like this anymore. Jamie Gillis plays a washed up B-movie star who is down on his luck. He has been reduced to escorting starlets to movie premieres, a service for which his agent pays him a few bucks plus expenses. He still makes the rounds of Hollywood parties, however, and at one such event, his host, J.C. Church, observes him seducing Desiree Cousteau. It is a hypnotic scene; Cousteau was a beautiful girl with wonderful, natural breasts. Georgina Spelvin secretly observes them, while being secretly observed herself by J.C. Church telephones Gillis that night with an interesting proposition. J.C. is the brother of Edgar Church, a rich industrialist from whom J.C. stands to inherit money. [read the full review]

Trouble, the 1989 Vidco release, stars Tori Welles, one of porns steamiest performers of all time. This is a decent flick, as directed by Fred J. Lincoln, but it includes most of the standard porn film clichés of that era. That is, marginal storyline, plenty of large breasted women (not a girl in the bunch), lots of from-behind camera angles (grrrr!), and quick cutaways after the money shot (another grrrr!). Tori wakes up one morning with amnesia, not remembering what she did the previous night, and not having the slightest idea of the identity of the dead guy laying next to her in bed. She splits and meets up with her attorney, Randy West. He tells her to go home, that hell take care of her mess. Next thing you know, Tori is in jail on murder charges. Randy the rat is in cahoots with Jacqueline, a busty brunette/redhead. Turns out its her husband lying in the morgue and theyve set up Tori as the fallgal to inherit his big bucks. Violation Of Tori Welles, The review summaries:

"The Violation of Tori Welles" is a good 1990 release from Caballero that’s essentially a compilation and that brings with it something of a bizarre twist. Weaving the various scenes together is an interspersed sequence of an intruder who’s apparently broken into Tori’s home. He rifles through her photos, magazines, and pictures…and he watches her videos, touches her AVN award, and ultimately sniffs and steals a pair of her panties. All of this is inter-cut between the five segments that make up the disc. [read the full review]

A simple call from a shady and manipulative ex-lover, Jamie Gillis, for a pair of hookers to service a high-end client goes horribly wrong for a madam with a heart of gold, Veronica Hart, when one of the two ladies meets her untimely demise in a swimming pool whilst on the job. Quickly, and despite trying to get out of the skin trade, Veronica finds herself buried deeper and deeper in a high stakes game of drugs, sex, and murder that can end in only one of two ways for the unsuspecting young woman...and only one of them is good. Such is the case in "Amanda By Night", a phenomenal, 1981 release from Caballero and director Robert McCallum. [read the full review]

One of the best American hardcore films ever made (by director Gary Graver) has been given a TERRIBLE DVD release by Caballero. A true genre masterpiece which features masterful performances from Veronica Hart, Richard Bolla, and especially Lisa DeLeeuw and Samantha Fox. A superior film in every respect which deserves a lot more than it has gotten on DVD. For that reason, pay more and get an old VHS. [read the full review]

Here is a Harold Lime/Robert McCallum classic from 1982 that is still famous over 20 years later. It won six adult film critic awards, including best picture. Because it was filmed near the end of the "golden age," there aren't quite as many exterior shots as there would have been in movies a few years older. The plot involves a madam named Amanda (Veronica Hart) who, as a favor to her former pimp and lover (Jamie Gillis), sets up an S & M session for a local politician. The girls that she sends for this session (Lisa de Leeuw and Samantha Fox) are later found dead. R. Bolla plays the straight-arrow homicide detective trying to solve the case, without much help from Amanda. To make matters worse, there's a corrupt vice squad cop (Ron Jeremy) who is constantly getting in the way. By today's standards, this is couples' fare, with relatively short sex scenes, and loads of plot. It's so good-hearted, it could almost be on the Family Channel. Veronica Hart gets to over-act and ham it up ridiculously. It's a good movie, but a poor DVD. [read the full review]

Saddled with a nerdy boyfriend, the blonde darling of the 80's porn scene, Ginger Lynn, decides that she's going to save face with her friends by telling them that her guy's a real rock star between the sheets. Of course, it's all bullshit, and it quickly touches off a number of problems in everyone's relationships that ultimately culminate in a massive milieu of adulterous fucking and sucking. Such is the case in "Blame It On Ginger", an overall-good, 1985 release from Vivid and Henri Pachard. [read the full review]

Blame it on Ginger is a rather standard film from Vivid in the late 80s, due to the less than perfect audio and video, I suggest only picking this one up if you are a big fan of one or more of the stars. The film will be liked by fans of a plot based adult films and couples. Those who don't like a plot or like nastier sex will want to steer clear of this film. [read the full review]

"Bobby Sox" is a type of porn film that goes under the category: One of Paul Thomas' worth watching films. I say that since P.T. is one of the most hit-and-miss directors in the business. But when he's good, man is he good. This movie, along with the original "Masseuse" will go down in my head as masterpieces. Sadly, however, this movie has been hacked to pieces by any current VHS or DVD versions of the movie (especially the VHS, but the DVD has some of the choppiest editing I've ever seen). Dripping with raw eroticism and the supernatural, John Leslie's 1991 release, "The Curse of the Catwoman", finds a lusty litter of exhibitionist cat-people (think: werewolves or vampires, but as cats) stalking their prey--and sating their sexual appetites--at an upscale, downtown nightclub. Led by the luscious and lascivious lovely, Raven (their presumed "Supreme"), everything's going great for the group...until they take in Raven's "naive" sister, Selena Steele, that is. So goes this exceptional and uber-erotic production from Leslie and VCA that, if it has nine lives, it uses them all in delivering this dirty treat. [read the full review]

John Leslie's "Curse of the Catwoman" is one of the most sylish porno movies I have ever seen. While honestly I think there are better John Leslie movies when it comes to storyline and, quite frankly, the sex, "Curse" is a perfect movie for anybody looking for a moody, style film. Anybody familiar with John Leslie's work will know this is a sequel (although rather different) to Leslie's 1988 classic "The Catwoman". In this film, a group of cat people hang out at a club, hunting for sexual prey. As the movie begins, Ashley Nicole is getting a stand-up fuck from T.T. Boy while Rocco Siffredi and Raven watch. Raven goes over to join the two, when club owner Jamie Gillis interrupts and tells her to get out. On their way out of the club together, Gillis and Nicole are attacked during a rendezvous by Raven, who gives herself to Jamie and provides Ashley with a "bigger dick". The sets and lighting are fantastic in these scenes and really help to motivate the sex. [read the full review]

Even though Jules Jordan and Mike John deliver a solid punch, Bruce Seven is the director that showed me how nasty somebodys daughter could be. The Dark Brothers' "New Wave Hookers" was an original (before the numerous sequels), hot, hilarious movie upon its release in 1985 and some, but not all of those elements hold up today. The story involves two slackers, Jimmy (Jamie Gillis) and Jamal (Jack Baker), who spend their time drinking beer and watching porn videos. As the movie begins, Jimmy tells Jamal they should become pimps and open an escort service, New Wave Hookers, where the girls would fuck to new wave music. They soon fall asleep, where they are transported into another world: They now run New Wave Hookers Incorporated and have a "dog" (Steve Powers), who telepathically receives phone calls. Their first girl is Candy (Desiree Lane), who skates into their office. Jimmy and the "dog" try her out, while Jimmy watches and masturbates (Jack Baker was actually a legitimate actor, playing Sticks on "Happy Days", and his sexual acts are limited to self-gratification and oral sex). Next Brooke Fields and Kimberly Carson visit a barely recognizable Peter North, who lives in a tent. [read the full review]

New Wave Hookers 5 Directed by Michael Ninn Overall Impression There is a lot to like in this Ninn feature. Ninn does a very nice job continuing this Dark Bros classic series. I really wanted to give this disc a perfect score, because there is enough fantastic material on this disc to warrant it. However there are a few scenes could brought the overall quality down a notch, plus I was not a big fan of the plot development scenes. However this is still some top notch porn and showcases some of Ninn's best work with Jeanna Fine and Vicca. Scene 1 Juli Ashton, Asia Carrera & Felecia This all girl threesome is not bad and is certainly loaded with talent. A lot of this scene involves Asia and Felecia working Ashton over with toys. Aprox 10min Scene 2 Sindee Coxx, Kim Kataine, Ashley Renee, and Roxanne Hall Technically I guess this is a sex scene, but not much of one. The scene is only four and a half minutes long and has all of these girls dressed the same riding metal dildos while standing and dancing around. [read the full review]

Directed by Alex De Renzy, "Pretty Peaches 3" garnered much in the way of critical and popular acclaim when it was first released back in 1989. Now, over a decade later, the video holds up only middlingly well despite it's "classic' status. I am not at all sure if today's "XXX-Generation" (those who maintain a steady diet of Max Hardcore and Sodomania) videos will have the patience for it. Shot on film, the DVD is much sharper and has better colors than its original VHS incarnation. For an old-timer like me, it was great to see actresses like Rachel Ryan, Victoria Paris, Tianna and Keisha back in action, although their best work has yet to hit DVD.The movie follows Keisha "on a quest for spritual enlightenment," but her encounters are more physical than anything else. Despite the fashion period of that time, Keisha looks great in just about every scene she's in. However, for whatever reason, Director De Renzy has chosen to mute her sexual performance and the results are disappointing. [read the full review]
