Initial Expectations: Ninn was well known for doing some great movies for VCA. I’m really looking forward to this one.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting warm cuddly porn or a straightforward feature

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The movie is very artistic so things aren’t always as straightforward as one might be used to. The audio is clear, but there normally isn’t much of it from the cast. Instead it’s done with voiceovers or covered up with music. The video is also nicely done, and masterfully mixes color and black and white footage. There’s a hint of grain, but unlike so much of Michael Ninn’s other work I don’t think it was shot on film. It’s very nicely lit and barely has a single shadow that doesn’t seem like it belongs.

Music: The music dominated much of the audio, but works. It varies in style slightly, but often goes with a dark and moody feel that fits the movie perfectly.

False Advertising: The cover states Never Before Seen Footage! along with a running time of 87 min. Since the IAFD listing for Forever Night also lists a running time of 87 min., this appears to be false advertising to me and I’m deducting a half point from the overall score because of it.

Menus: The menus are very basic. The main menu just has a still and the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature

When Jamie Gillis turns his back on God after his wife dies in childbirth, he’s damned to live forever in darkness. He isn’t alone, and amuses himself watching some of his servants, such as Stacy Valentine, fuck.

Scene 1 - Stacy Valentine and two guys

Stacy starts things out masturbating for Jamie in two times. In one time she’s in Victorian dress on a bed while in the other she’s in modern times on a staircase. She moves on to take on two guys wearing black and white masks in the Victorian setting. She sucks one before letting him fuck her shaved slit from behind and then lets the other join in to DP her. Finally, Stacy takes a facial to finish things up with the guys and goes back to diddling herself in the other situations.

This is a very hot scene, although not what I’d normally go for. It’s very artistic and a bit choppy, but there’s such a feel of sexuality that I couldn’t help but get into it. Stacy takes the DP like a champ and never misses a beat. This is a great way to start things out.

Scene 2 - Jeanna Fine and Valentino

Jeanna, with her hair in platinum spikes and wearing a slutty red and black outfit, takes on Valentino, wearing an Oriental style headdress, in the next scene. She kisses him on the mouth before dropping down to mouth his manhood. She lets Valentino fuck her from behind before finally cumming across her face.

This is another pretty hot scene. It’s surprisingly limited by only having a blowjob, one position, and a facial, but the editing is fast enough that it seems like something more than what it is. Jeanna’s vocals are a little annoying, but at the same time makes me wonder whether some of the footage was reused or not. Despite this question, this scene worked nicely for me.

Scene 3 - Liza Harper and Peter Romero

Liza, earing a blonde wig, gives Peter a hummer before laying back so her can lick her lower lips. As soon as they’re both warmed up, Liza hops up to ride Peter reverse cowgirl style and later lets him fuck her ass from behind. Finally, Liza turns around to take Peter’s pop across her tongue.

This is another nicely done scene. It’s fairly simple and artistic, but never loses the sexual feeling. There’s a primal feel to the scene that almost seemed odd. There’s nice chemistry and energy, but nothing seems to go overboard. This is a very nice scene.

Scene 4 - Ashley Renee, Raylene, and Stacy Valentine

The girls quickly move past anything natural and get on with the colorful dildos. The girls focus on Stacy first, and quickly move past one dildo to give her a double dildo penetration. Ashley gets her turn next with a purple double dildo, and after a bit Raylene gets on the other end of it. The girls even let Stacy work a second double dildo between their cornholes before the scene fades out.

This is another pretty hot scene. The camera work makes it a little confusing at a couple points as to who’s getting fucked, but there’s enough chemistry and energy between the girls that it’s hard to not get into this scene. I really wish this scene would have went on a bit longer, if for nothing else than to let it end cleaner than it does here.

Scene 5 - Jill Kelly and Eric Price

Jill strips down for Eric, who’s made up like a demon, in the fifth scene. She licks her way around his lighting ball scepter before allowing him to fuck her with a lit toy. Jill moves on to pleasure him orally before moving back to fuck herself with a dildo mounted on a chair. Jill lays across a love swing so Eric can fuck her in mid-air both doggie and missionary style before getting out so he can fuck her ass from behind. Finally, Jill lets Eric spill his seed in and around her mouth.

This is a very hot scene. Yes, Eric made up as a demon made the scene feel a little odd, but they built up such great chemistry that I couldn’t help but really get into the scene. Jill takes the best facial in the movie here, and makes it all look easy. This is a very hot scene.

Scene 6 - Brooke Lane and Earl Slate

Brooke starts out the next scene squatting down and sucking Earl. Jamie comes up from behind her and encourages her to rub his cock all over her face before Earl rewards her with a tongue for her twat. Jamie takes a little control as they start fucking, giving Earl orders about when he can and can’t fuck Brooke as Earl fucks her missionary and doggie style. Earl lets go with a blast of his population pudding across Brooke’s stomach, but they keep going missionary style as soon as she rubs it around a little. They finally finish things up with a second pop across Brooke’s face.

This scene felt a little weak to me. I didn’t mind Jamie’s taking a little part in the scene at first, but when it didn’t continue through the rest of the scene it gave Jamie’s participation an odd feel. Much of the scene also felt like it was sped up slightly, which at times didn’t work for me. This is an okay scene, but had a few problems.

Scene 7 - Stacy Valentine and John Decker

John emerges from a swimming pool to take on Stacy for the final scene. He lets her suck his cock before he eats her out. John fucks Stacy missionary style, and then bones each of her holes from behind. Finally, he pops across Stacy’s pretty face.

This is a hot scene. Stacy and John get into things nicely, and the artistic feel of the scene doesn’t get in the way of the sexuality. Nothing really comes to an end here plotwise, but it’s a nice scene to end things with on a sexual note.

Forever Night is a very nicely done piece of artistic porn. Jamie Gillis does a very nice job in the lead role, and Stacy Valentine does a great job in the lead sexual role. The movie has a fairly simple idea behind it, but does a very nice job in stretching it as far as it can go. It’s definitely more style than substance, but that fits Michael Ninn’s talents just fine. I know that Michael Ninn’s style isn’t for everybody, but I was really impressed with it here. He manages to do things that normally don’t do anything for me, and instead they end up working. The scenes were often on the shorter side of things, but there’s enough sexuality crammed in each one that I rarely found them lacking. I was surprised a the amount of anal in the movie, but at the same time the nastier sex fit the dark feel of the movie very well. Forever Night has a few minor problems, but they were small enough that they rarely interfered with the movie. This is a hot movie that’s worth checking out.

Finally, there’s a photo gallery which lasts about two minutes with roughly six seconds per very nice snapshot.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of VCA’s DVDs can be found online for between about $8 and $25 with stores offering them everywhere in between. At the low end this is a great buy. The sex is hot and it has great style. The technical aspects are also nicely done, and for the age of the DVD, there’s some effort put into the extras. This is a pretty good DVD.

Note to VCA: I know this was one of your early DVDs. It’s nice to see you were putting a little effort into the extras even back then.
